Barn som "omsorgsgivare" Socialsekreterares "blinda fläck" : En studie om relationen mellan socialsekreterare och familjehemsföräldrarnas egna barn / Children as “care givers”, social workers “blind spot”

Johnsson, Tina, Rosenqvist, Therese January 2015 (has links)
This paper aims to describe the social workers relationship / contact to the foster parents' own children in a foster home. The aim is also to understand a social workers perspective on foster parents' own children in the foster home. We wanted to find out how social workers relationship/contact to the foster parents own children looks like, which has shown to differ between municipality to municipality. The study has shown that the perspective on the own children in the family, differs from municipality to municipality and that the own children’s meaning for the foster home as a social contribution, has a varied meaning amongst social workers. Based on several theories and concepts we have analyzed our result we got from the interviews, we found out that social workers looks at and works differently with foster parents own children. We found out that social workers perspective on foster parent’s own children is, that they are a very important resource and they participate in the fostering of the foster child. It also became clear in our result that a paradox appears in social workers work when although they don’t have any regulated documents on how to work with the foster parent’s own children, they still experience that they are restricted in their work by the organization they work under.

Exploring the Experience of Benefit Finding in Parents of Children with Cancer: A Grounded Theory Study

Zogran, Carol E. 01 January 2008 (has links)
The diagnosis of cancer in a child is one of the most significant stressors a parent can experience, and research in the area of stress-related effects of illness on parents has emerged in many areas. The majority of studies have focused on the potential or actual negative impact on parents during and after treatment of their child's illness. However, studies that initially set out to explore the difficulties associated with coping with childhood cancer found that parents often reported positive aspects about the experience. There is now increasing interest and support for the study of "positive-health" factors that contribute to protective variables influencing the health and well being of parents, such as benefit finding. The present study aimed to illuminate the process of benefit finding in parents of children with cancer and to develop a theoretical model of this process based on the findings. This grounded theory study resulted in a conceptual model that organized and depicted the constructs and structures related to the process of benefit finding. Through constant comparative analysis, the Basic Psychosocial Problem was identified as being overwhelmed with fear. The parents identified intervening conditions that helped move them from feeling overwhelmed to feeling that they could manage the fear. Many parents identified a specific event, an "epiphenomenon" that created a turning point for them. This event, along with the intervening conditions, moved the parent from being overwhelmed to managing/transforming the fear, which was the Basic Psychosocial Process. The strategies that the parents identified as helping to manage the fear are being in the present, being strong, having faith/maintaining hope, and making meaning out of the event, of which benefit finding was the major component. This entire process occurred within the context of being a parent, as this awareness colored the entire experience. Benefit finding emerged as both a strategy and an outcome within this process and encompassed a growth in character, strengthening of relationships, and a gain in perspective. The theoretical model and substantive theory that emerged during the course of this study provide a way to understand this process in parents of children with cancer.

Základní prvky vztahu rodiče a dítěte (srovnávací studie) / Basic elements of relationship between parent nad child (comparative study)

Sladká, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
Resumé Basic Elements of Relationship between Parent and Child (a Comparative Study) The topic of my master thesis is 'Basic Elements of the Relationship between Parent and a Child, a Comparative Study'. The main purpose of my thesis is to compare rights and duties of parents and children in their mutual relationship, both at the present time and in the past, as well as in various foreign countries. I tried to provide a comprehensive overview of this issue, because a lot of parents, more so children, do not know what their own rights and duties are. The main right, and also a duty, of parents is to raise their children, however, it is just the top of all their duties and rights as parents. Nowadays rights of children are stronger than in the past, thanks to international evolution. This international evolution causes national family law to be improved, which reinforces the rights of a child. We should however remember that rights of parents represent duties for children and vice versa, rights of children are duties for parents. The thesis is composed of an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion; the chapters are further divided into subchapters. The introduction describes the structure and main goals of my thesis. Chapter One deals with the history of rights and duties of parents and children. The...

Vacková, Tereza January 2012 (has links)
Maintenance between parents and children Resumé My thesis deals with the mutual maintenance of parents and children in theory and in practice and the thesis consists of ten chapters. The topic of alimony is a very current topic. Our society is constantly changing and its relations in the families as well. The families which are functioning decrease so the needed family members have to seek for their rights. Each of us is a parent or a child, so this topic affects all of us. The first chapter defines the basic concepts of my thesis, such as the concept of maintenance obligations, the differences between different types of maintenance obligations, the definition of subjects of maintenance obligations and the differences between the Czech and the International legal system. The final part of the first chapter discusses the new regulations of maintenance obligations, which will come into effect with new Civil Code. The main chapters focus on alimony obligation of parents to children and on alimony obligation of children to parents. I discuss the basic concepts and I define them. In those chapters the newly created tables from the Ministry of Justice for calculating the alimony with its application in the practice of Czech courts, where also the latest judiciary decisions are mentioned, also are taken into...

Factors that Influence the Participation of Immigrant Latino Parents in the Special Education Process of their Children with Disabilities

Ruiz, Maria Isolina 15 December 2012 (has links)
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act emphasized the importance of parents’ participation in all educational decisions concerning their children with disabilities. However, parents’ ability to actively participate in, and contribute to, their children’s special education process is influenced by a variety of parent and school related factors. For immigrant Latino parents, these factors may include additional issues related to cultural and linguistic diversity not experienced by most parents. This study examined the experiences of immigrant Latino parents when navigating the special education system as well as the impact that such experiences had on parents’ participation in the special education process of their children with disabilities. A researcher-developed survey (Special Education Parent Participation Survey, SPED-PPS) was used to collect the data. Findings indicated that, although about half of the participants were unable to communicate in English with educators, parents still communicated and collaborated often with school personnel. In addition, most immigrant Latino parents trusted professionals working with their children and had a positive perception of school personnel. A minority of parents believed that teachers knew best about their children’s needs, believed that teachers thought that parents interfered too much in their work, and/or felt uncomfortable with having many professionals in the Individual Educational Plan meetings. Immigrant Latino parents’ participation in their children’s special education process appeared to be influenced by the child’s disability as well as parents’ knowledge of the American education system, perception of school personnel, English language communication skills, and ability to confront school personnel about the child’s needs.

Consultas terapêuticas com pais e filhos: resgatando a experiência compartilhada do brincar / Not informed by the author

Moreira, Leliane Maria Aparecida Gliosce 19 June 2015 (has links)
The Serviço Escola from an undergraduate course at a Psychology School is an institution that while offers psychological services to a community promoting mental health, also serves as psychology education through the means of training work as part of course requisite. At the Psychology Serviço Escola modes of psychological support take place towards the community and, among them, there is the support for parents who seek specialized aid when facing conflicting situations with their children, which they cannot understand or can no longer intervene. A psychologist is then called in to assist parents and children to understand what is happening within their relationship through means of interventions which promote the rescue of the child\'s emotional development process, while allowing another comprehension of their being/living in the parents\' role. The parents\' request for psychological assistance for their children has been studied by various psychoanalysis authors, however the emphasis of this present study is towards the theory of paternal-child relationship, as constructed by Winnicott (1982, p. 40). According to Winnicott, the favorable conditions presented by the environment (parents/family) will allow children to grow up at desirable rhythm and time, which means that she can be herself within time and space. If at the beginning the dependency is absolute, progressively the child moves towards independency, as long as the environment (parents, family, caregivers, that is, any of all responsible for taking care) understands its role will remain, even if modified, in each phase of the child\'s development. Thus, for Winnicott it is fundamental that there is a permanent environment provision so that the child\'s growth path can be promoted. He points out that, in some occasions, therapeutic consultancy allows the resuming of the child\'s development path, as long as there is the parents support and care This study aims to verify if the Therapeutic Consulting with parents and children, developed at a Seviço Escola, are an efficient method to investigate and comprehend the psychological mechanisms involved within the interruption of the child\'s development path. It also aims to verify if it is a method that promotes the rescue of communication between the parents and the child from the point of re-inclusion of parents into their role of support within the process of the child\'s growth. Therefore, two therapeutic consultancies between parents and child were followed and analyzed within a Serviço Escola trying to determine if this mode of specialist assistance favored the rescuing of both parent/child\'s development path. This work presents a social relevance as it proposes the adoption of a psychoanalytic clinic procedure in relation to parents and children, when it is still possible to avoid that pathological modes of resolving conflicts take place (SAFRA, 2005, p.37), later acquiring a preventive aspect

A narrative analysis of fathers' experiences in having a child with intellectual disability. / CUHK electronic theses & dissertations collection

January 2005 (has links)
From the stories three common pairs of themes emerged: external locus of control vs. internal locus of control, sense of responsibility vs. love and concern, and humiliation vs. pride. These themes reflected how the fathers interpreted their life, their relationship with the child and their view of self. The findings also showed that the fathers' gradual change from the arrival of the child to age 16 could be demarcated into three stages. The initial stage was filled with feelings of helplessness. The second stage was when their child settled with schooling and they became more stable and positive. The third stage was the stage when the child stepped into adolescence and they began to face their aging process. They began to be aware that they could not take care of their child forever and became anxious and worried about the child's future. From the findings, the social beliefs, values and traditional practices, social context, and personal characteristics were found to be significant factors influencing these fathers' interpretation of their experience in having a child with intellectual disability. / The stories of these fathers have provided rich materials for more in-depth understanding of these fathers who had a child with intellectual disability. Based on the findings, recommendations are made to policy-makers, service planners and practitioners of related disciplines in providing more appropriate services to give support and assistance to fathers and those families with a child with intellectual disability, and also in building up an inclusive society. / These 15 fathers were of diversified backgrounds and each of them had their unique story, but they also shared similar experiences in parenting their special child. Generally they shared common characteristics of adhering to the values of traditional Chinese males, while at the same time they also adopted some of the western ways of taking up the roles of a husband and a father. During the interviews, they were able to disclose their long suppressed feelings and reveal their struggles in overcoming the various difficulties in fathering the child. They had pains and sorrows, but they also experienced joy and pride in being the father of a special child. In the course of parenting they showed gradual acceptance of having the child but they also came to understand that their child would be their life-long burden. / This study is a narrative analysis of fathers' experiences in having a child with intellectual disability in Hong Kong. The study explored the fathers' subjective interpretation of their lived experiences. It included their reactions in having the special child, their experience of parenting the child, and the meaning derived from the experience. The cultural and contextual factors that had influenced their interpretation of their experience were also explored. Fifteen fathers who had a child aged 12 to 16 with mild grade intellectual disability participated in the study. Each of them was invited to attend two in-depth interviews with the duration of about two hours each. / Yeung Yuen chi Kwan Laura. / "July 2005." / Adviser: Mong Chow Lam. / Source: Dissertation Abstracts International, Volume: 67-07, Section: A, page: 2756. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2005. / Includes bibliographical references (p. 436-467). / Electronic reproduction.
