A Research on Information System Reengineering Strategies for Passive Component Electronic Industry

Hou, Te-Shin 23 July 2002 (has links)
In order to adapt with the rapidly changing industrial environment and improve the efficiency of management, enterprise needs to re-engineer their information system. The whole process of business reengineering is induced by motivation of reengineering. After that, enterprise needs to select a reengineering strategy and transform into the executive plan to start the rest part. The information system reengineering process follows the same pathway as process of business reengineering. The wrong strategy might lead the wrong execution, which cause failure of the whole reengineering. In this research, author tried to build a model to explain how reengineering motivation interacts with the choice of reengineering strategy, and verifies the model by real case chosen from Passive Component Electronic Industry. The outcome might be helpful for the enterprises whose information system reengineering is going to take place.

A Case Study on The Synergy Effect of Yageo's Acquisition of Philips Passive Component Division

Yang, Yin 25 July 2009 (has links)
As is known to all, Yageo plays a decisive role in passive component industry in the world. In 1991, Yageo¡¦s capital was only estimated NT$ 400 million. A series of acquisitions of not more than 10 years, Yageo¡¦s capital has reached NT$ 14 billion. It grows more than 30 times. Thereinto, the most famous and controversial issue was Yageo¡¦s ??650 million (Around NT$ 18.8 billion) acquisition of the passive component division of Philips in 2000. At that time, Walsin Technology quoted 8 billion. Why were the value evaluations of acquiring the passive component division of Philips on the 2 leading companies of passive components diametrically opposed? This study aims at exploring the effectiveness of this acquisition case at high price. In the early stages of Taiwan's passive component industry, Taiwan fell behind Japan, Europe and America in technology. In order to catch up with advanced foreign technology expeditiously, expand the market share, and become a global leading company from local Taiwan, acquisition and strategy alliance are very common method strategically. Nevertheless, through many literatures, we find that actually successful examples of acquisition are not many. Specially, Yageo¡¦s acquisition of the passive component division of Philips is that big beats small. Furthermore, transnational acquisition involves with different business philosophy, management system and corporate culture. Success of acquisition becomes more difficult. In terms of corporate managers, the most important responsibilities are to lead the company's growth, enhance shareholder value, bring prosperity to the community and provide more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. This case was studied from pre-acquisition in 1997 to post-acquisition in 2004 on each indicator for analysis and comparison to explore the gains and losses of whole acquisition. When enterprises are in the process of development, acquisition is absolutely one of the strategy options. However, how does acquisition strategy create the maximum value? The wisdom and decision of enterprisers will be strictly tested by market and investor. We hope it can provide usefulness for enterprisers in Taiwan to execute transnational acquisition by exploring this acquisition case.

M&A Exchange Ratio Discussion¡ÐThe Passive Component Industry

Hsu, Ya-Hui 01 June 2006 (has links)
Since the accelerating development of globalization and market opening, the competitive advantages in this economic environment are innovation, information and market access. Passive component industry usually takes price cost-down strategy to keep the advantage to adapt this formidable pressure from the vicious competition in the market, and the fastest way to implement this strategy is merger & acquisition, then a tendency is formed at this kind of economic situation. This paper focused on 2 M&A models which composed of 4 passive component companies, Yageo, Compostar, Walsin and Pan Overseas. It based on the model analysis for the related issues regarding the common stock exchange ratio in their M&A process. Our study and observation models adopted from the L-G model brought up from Kermit D. Larson and Nicholas J.Gonedes. Furthermore, we take systematic risk indicator(£]) to adjust the marginal condition derived from the highest and lowest exchange ratio of L-G model, then we analyzed by comparing with the actual ratio. With regards to the budget EPS, it was applied to estimate by the reduced form model from Terry A. Marsh and Robert C. Merton. Comparing the estimate result with the actual public M&A information, we found the more information we can use for regression estimation, the much precise estimate results will be. For example, it is close to the results by comparing to the reference estimate digits from Yageo & Walsin models. The decision of actual exchange ratio depends on the bilateral negotiation abilities, and we used L-G model to estimate the reasonable range of exchange ratio. Because of many factors which can not be quantified during the merger negotiation process, the importance of the exchange ratio estimate range from is paper is providing the bottom line for the negotiation, and these key information should be helpful for both parties during the M&A discussion. Recently, M&A process in passive component industry occur frequently, it was said that 2006 is the M&A year for this industry. I wish the empirical result in this paper can provide the reference indication to help the development of passive component industry in the future.

Hong-Quei, Chiang 28 July 2000 (has links)
The research was focus on exploring the growth strategy of small and medium business in Taiwan. We are interested in finding the orbit and the logic of Taiwan¡¦ small and medium business, which are growing rapidly and becoming global business recently. However, how to explicit the competitive advantage of business growth is a complicated and tacit task. The methodology of the research applied the grounded theory to do the qualitative analysis. After sampling from Taiwan passive component industry base on the strategic group, we will proceed the in-depth interview with the top management team of the businesses. The first-hand data and information from interview will be analysis, comparative, and coding repeatedly and iteratively. Gradually, the category and abstract concept will be emergent from the outcome of coding. The theory will be constructed from the relation of the concepts until the saturation it reached. The research founded that to catch the "strategic timing fit" was the orbit and the logic of Taiwan¡¦ passive component industry. There were three timing in the rapidly changing and creative environment: a) timing of technological paradigm transition; b) timing of production transition; c) timing of entrance and existence of competitors. The leaders of the firms in the case showed that they built the strategic capabilities and resources within the organization to meet the "strategic timing fit", which was the key factor of rapid growth in the past decade.

Study and modeling of inter-component coupling for filtrer design : Application to automotive EMI filters / Etude et modélisation des couplages inter-composants pour la conception des filtres : Application aux filtres du domaine automobile

Stojanovic, Marine 14 September 2018 (has links)
EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) is increasingly important in electronic and electrical systems and more particularly in the automotive domain. Actually, there are more and more power electronics equipments in a vehicle and, therefore, EMC issues are more recurrent. In order to limit EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interferences), well designed filters are needed. Each filter is designed corresponding to a system and the required attenuation. However, different parameters can have influence on the filter performances, such as the layout, the mechanical structure or the inter-components coupling of the filter. Therefore, the thesis work is based on the study of the filter performance considering inter-components coupling. Some methods exist on that topic bu are generally based on 3D electromagnetic simulation, which is time-consuming and requires a lot of information on components (geometrical properties, material properties etc.). Therefore, our work is based on a methodology only based on analytical calculation and measurements. That simplified methodology is very accurate because it can predict a filter performance, whatever the filter topology, whatever the structure. That method was validated under several application cases on power electronics systems for automotive domain. Finally, the whole methodology has been accrued in a tool for filter design that can predict a filter attenuation by considering the components proximity.

Comparing & Analyzing the Manpower of Cross-strait¡XAs the case of Passive Component

Wei, Jung-tsung 20 August 2007 (has links)
¡§Employees¡¨ are the most important factor to concern the business. However, love to go ease and hate to work hard is human¡¦s nature. If less to take care the workpeople for a long time, wasting resources, neglecting handling official papers, making excuses¡Ksuch events should be happened. It¡¦s an important issue to build up the good organize and harmonious atmosphere, make the employees willing and enthusiastic at work. On workpeople and affairs management, there are two important things ¡§trusty¡¨ and ¡§effectiveness¡¨. For examples, when you have a target practice, all of the shootings are on the bull¡¦s eye. It means good at ¡§trusty¡¨ and ¡§effectiveness¡¨¡F If all of the shootings are on one spot out of the bull¡¦s eye, it means good at ¡§trusty¡¨ but not at ¡§effectiveness¡¨. All of the bosses would hope their employees are good at ¡§trusty¡¨ and ¡§effectiveness¡¨ on their work field. Due to the competitiveness of Taiwan¡¦s industries, it is hard to avoid moving to overseas. Because of the enticements of cost down and prosper market, Mainland China is most of the industries¡¦ common investment choices. There are different politics and economic policies between two sides of straits. And the wide gap of social culture and values exist in Taiwan and Mainland China. As a result of politics and economic policies open and develop, especially industrial circles focus on pursuing achievements, it brings workpeople new thoughts. It also makes some problems at adapting to thoughts and behaviors of the workpeople. Therefore, the complexity and importance of human resources management are manifested. The passive components industries are widespread in Taiwan. To comply with the assembling factories generations alternating and products renewing, the attached business opportunities should be brought up. But Taiwan is just good at low technique production resistance and capacitance. The international main industrials use as low price to occupy the market. The materials and innovation skills are controlled by Japan, Europe and China. They become to the production center in the world year after year. The passive components industries in Taiwan must bring up the effective human resources management tactics to build up superiorly competitiveness to break through the difficult position. Otherwise the passive components industries in Taiwan will face the threat to be knocked out. This research is based on the passive components And try to find out the different and similar views on human resources management between two sides of strait. To contrast and analyze the advantage and disadvantage draft the different policies to suit different environment, to improve the satisfaction of employees. Furthermore, the passive component industrial in Taiwan should be raise on business effects and competitiveness.

Passive Component Wire Bonding Evaluation in a Hybrid IC Package

Chen, Ying-Chou 12 February 2007 (has links)
As the IC assembly technology fast developing in the modern electrical industries. Demand of high performance electric product is glowing up day by day. New generation of the hybrid IC assembly package has become the major role recently. In order to prevent the package defects occurring in end customer sites, in this paper we try to improve the IC assembly method by using a totally different process to fix the passive component on a BGA substrate. We found that the passive component can be proceeded the current gold wire bonding process. In case of the Hybrid BGA with the current passive component attaching process, we can find the thermal effect during the surface mount process. Since the solder can be melt every time during each heating process. Therefore, we plan to improve it without solder attachment. The new improvement is to fix the passive component by a non-conductive thermal cure glue. The glue can be done in one time cure, thus the further process would not influence the quality of passive component. However in the evaluation experiment, the component coated by Gold is the best choice, but we intend to just put it in a comparison model because of the cost consideration. Both works on passive component coated by Gold and Solder were proved. The customer support for the further study on the real products is suggested.

Diagnosis and Counseling to Small & Medium Businesses of High-Tech

Kuo, Kai-Chen 21 June 2001 (has links)
This study aims to make a diagnosis and counseling to the operation of small and medium businesses of high-tech by way of case study. Two manufacturers of electronic passive components were chosen in this study. Acting as the assistant and consultant of the top management, the writer took about 21 months to proceed with the study by practically participating in the operation of the object companies. This study includes the following contents¡G(1) Basic Analysis, (2)Financial Analysis, (3)Operating Goal and (4)Operating Counseling. For the Basic Analysis, the two companies have been making better profit through the diagnosis and counseling. For the Financial Analysis, ¡§A¡¨ Company has the most complete financial operating report, with which the management can be fully aware of and then successfully control the financial status of the company. Examples are provided in this study. For the Operating Goal, the policy of the gross margin ratio is the most significant part of the strategy in ¡§A¡¨ and ¡§B¡¨ companies. The analyzing method of Boston Consultant Group is proved effective for making the strategy of gross margin ratio and OK yield. At last, for the Operating Counseling, practical examples are offered in many aspects, such as manufacturing and technology, 5S arrangements, management conference, human resources, joint investment and quality assurance. During the period of study, some very important ideas have been attained in the interpersonal relationship, i.e. ¡§management is service¡¨ and ¡§establishing good communication mechanism is vital for management¡¨. Besides, 26 forms have been collected for maintaining the management system, including financial management, manufacturing, quality and sales control, and operating management. The operating diagnosis and counseling are more essential for small and medium businesses than for those big companies since they are different in capital investment, man power and profit risk. It is a favorable result that the two companies have been making noticeable achievements during this period of time. The methods described in this study have also been applied to another two companies with remarkable outcome. As in chemical reaction, the operating counseling could be a catalyzer when it is well applied, while it could be a restrainer when being misused. The methods described in this report will help to make an efficient counseling, which will accelerate business development.
