An analysis of the perceptions on corruption – residents of Brooklyn in cape townGonya, Prince Zukile January 2020 (has links)
Masters in Public Administration - MPA / The subject matter of corruption is a topical one in South Africa, where many institutions in the socio-political economy, both private and public, are subject to corruption allegations which emerge from time to time in the media. A number of studies have been undertaken on this topic globally, mainly in Latin America, but there remains a dearth of published academic work on the phenomenon in South Africa. Inevitably what transpires in the socio-political economy has a bearing on the lives of the general public. Of interest in this study is public perceptions of corrupt practices in the country and how these affect ordinary people. The objective of this study is to explore how people perceive corruption in the City of Cape Town, using the residents of Brooklyn as a case study.

Optimalizace pro stereoskopické zobrazení / Optimalization for Stereoscopic VisualizationZelníček, Leoš January 2009 (has links)
This work envolves basic options of human visual sense, describes matter of depth perception. We analyze binocular vision of humans, its limits, which must be considered, and followed when trying to project stereoscopic pictures. Then, we mention the most common methods of stereoscopic projection, reader is made acquainted with their options, advantages, and difficulties. The biggest part of this work is dedicated to the optimalizations themselves. They are focused on the most effective rendering of 3D scenes using stereoscopic technology. The effort is to make the best stereoscopic engine as possible and to inspect and improve displayed scene, so that the stereoeffect would be the best. Trivisio ARvision-3D HMD was used for testing purposes.

In the digital age, social media like Instagram has become a central part of how we share and consume visual content. This essay examines how edited and filtered images on Instagram affect users' perception of real-life appearance standards and their own body image. Through a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods and with theoretical frameworks such as medialization theory, critical image science, symbolic interactionism and self-presentation theory, this study examines how these edited images contribute to creating and reinforcing norms and ideals. The results show that edited photos on Instagram often present an unrealistic version of reality. As suggestions for future research, it is recommended that a greater focus be placed on examining the long-term effects on users of social media platforms of exposure to edited images, as well as the effectiveness of media literacy programs in helping young users critically examine and manage this kind of influence. The ambition of this essay was to be able to contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex conditions.

Formal confusion: virtuality and utopian space : an exegesis presented with exhibition as fulfillment of the requirements for thesis, Master of Fine Arts at Massey University, Wellington, New ZealandTrevelyan, Peter Ross January 2008 (has links)
This exegesis details an investigation into the history and evolution of certain technologies, (binary coding, Platonic cosmology, and the linear perspective system) and the extent to which these technologies have distorted or appropriated our perceptions of reality. Special attention is paid to logical inconsistencies in apparently logical systems. The investigation focuses on the purportedly utopian applications of these technologies and the discrepancies that inevitably occurred whenever these ordered systems confronted the chaotic ‘real’ world. Information gleaned from this research then informs an analysis of methods for incorporating these concepts into the author’s installation practice. An explication of recent drawing practice and its reconciliation with installation work will account for and inform a recounting of practical experimentation dealing with form and materials.
