Energetická optimalizace administrativní budovy / Energy optimization of the administrative building

The diploma thesis deals with the energy audit of administrative building. In the theoretical part I described the heat pumps. In a calculated part I proposed austerity measures and created of them saving variant. I chose the most suitable variant and assess it from an economic and ecological point of view. In the third part, I use the calculation program to optimize the building.

This diploma thesis is dealing with energy audit of industrial building with administration part, situated in Blansko, South Moravia region. The theoretical part is focused to windows from the energy balance point of view, because one of the energy saving measures is the change of current insufficient window filling. The main objective of this diploma thesis is to find the most energy saving variant which is going to be evaluated from the both, ecological and economical, aspect. The third part is dedicated to usage of computer technology as software for 3D model creating of assessed building or energy consumption simulation for particular systems as heating in relation to characters of different kinds of windows.

Thermal performance of dwellings in Cyprus and approaches for energy conservation

Energy has always been the dominant driving force for the socio-economic development of mankind. Nowadays, the global energy system is highly depended on fossil fuels. A great share of the final energy consumption, over 40%, in the EU-27 is consumed by the existing building stock whereas dwellings account for 66.62% of this. Thus, the need to increase the energy performance of dwellings is an important instrument in the efforts to lessen Europe’s energy dependency. In order to define measures to increase the energy performance of dwellings a deeper understanding of their characteristics should be gained. Unfortunately, in Cyprus there is a gap in knowledge on this aspect. In this thesis the characteristics of the dwellings in Cyprus are defined through a sample of 500 dwellings. The results revealed that more than 80% of dwellings in Cyprus do not have thermal insulation installed on their envelope. From this it is clear that the definition of the optimum thermal insulation material to be applied in dwellings is very important. Thus, the commercially available thermal insulation materials and topologies used in Cyprus were reviewed and defined through a market survey and the typical dwelling was modelled. The effect of the application of thermal insulation to its energy behaviour was simulated using TRNSYS. This resulted in the definition of the optimum thermal insulation materials and topologies to be applied in both new and existing dwellings. Accordingly, the application of advanced commercially available materials such as Phase Change Materials (PCM) to the envelope of the typical dwelling was investigated. The energy savings achieved by the addition of a PCM layer on the envelope of the typical dwelling was found to be 28.6%. The optimum PCM case was also combined with the optimum thermal insulation combination and an energy saving of 68% was predicted. The incorporation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) to the typical dwelling was also simulated and studied. Specifically, two types of standalone RES systems were initially evaluated; a solely photovoltaic (PV) system and a hybrid PV-Wind system. The results showed that the solely PV system is a much better option due to the very high solar potential of Cyprus in comparison to the poor wind profile of the island. Subsequently, a grid-connected PV system was also evaluated and the results showed that when a RES system is grid-connected the cost of the system is reduced to half of that of the standalone cases. This research has revealed that the optimum topology combinations to be applied in both new and existing dwellings in Cyprus is thermal insulation plaster or thermal insulation bricks (only for new dwellings) on the external walls combined with expanded polystyrene on the roof. These results will provide valuable information that will assist both engineers and architects in the efficient design of dwellings in Cyprus. The investigation of the application of macroencapsulated PCM showed that these materials are not yet an economically viable solution for application in Cyprus The findings also show that a solely PV system is the optimum RES system to be applied in Cyprus especially when it is grid-connected. The findings of this project are useful for individuals, house builders and designers as well as policy makers for the design of energy saving subsidy schemes.

Performance Evaluation Of Existing Medium Rise Reinforced Concrete Buildings According To 2006 Turkish Seismic Rehabilitation Code

Linear elastic and nonlinear analysis procedures of 2006 Turkish Seismic Rehabilitation Code are applied to medium rise reinforced concrete buildings. In this study, four storey residential buildings are designed according to the 1998 and 1975 Turkish Seismic Design Codes, and the analysis procedures are verified on these case studies. In addition to these buildings, the analysis procedures are tested on an existing school building before and after retrofitting. The assessment procedures employed in the 2006 Turkish Seismic Rehabilitation Code are based on linear elastic analysis (equivalent lateral load method, mode superposition method) / non-linear analysis (pushover analysis with equivalent lateral load method and mode superposition method) and non-linear time history analysis. In this study, linear elastic analysis with equivalent lateral loads and non-linear static analysis (pushover analysis) with equivalent lateral loads are investigated comparatively. SAP2000 software is used for pushover analysis / however the plastic rotation values obtained from SAP2000 are not used directly but defined according to the code procedures. Post-elastic rotations at yielding sections are transferred to Excel and the corresponding strains are calculated from these rotations by Excel Macro. These strains are compared with strain limits described in the 2006 Turkish Seismic Rehabilitation Code to obtain the member performances. In the linear elastic procedure, structural analysis is performed also by SAP2000 to obtain the demand values, whereas the capacity values are calculated by another Excel Macro. With these demand and capacity values, corresponding demand to capacity ratios are calculated and compared with demand to capacity ratio limits described in 2006 Turkish Seismic Rehabilitation Code to obtain the member performances. Global performances of the buildings are estimated from the member performances and from the inter-storey drifts for both two methods. The results are compared to each other, and critically evaluated.

This research aims to verify the hypothesis that the use of thermal inertia in buildings submitted to the specific climate of Sao Carlos allows to optimize the thermal performance of buildings and to reduce waste of energy to restore indoor thermal comfort. From data obtained by monitoring of seven different buildings, the thermal performance of each one was analyzed when they are submitted to typical simmer and winter conditions. To these seasons, adopting a reference day , it was estimated the heating and cooling requirement to restore the indoor comfort conditions. Besides the analyses for winter and summer seasons, it was estimated the indoor cooling and heating requirement along all moths of the year. Through this analyze, it was possible to verify the real influences of thermal inertia on the indoor comfort conditions. The results indicates that only the use of thermal inertia is insufficient to provide indoor thermal comfort conditions for buildings submitted to the specific climates of Sao Carlos. It is suggested to mach the use of thermal inertia with others passive strategies, in such a way to optimize the thermal performance of buildings. / Neste trabalho, investigou-se o uso da inércia térmica em edificações localizadas na cidade de São Carlos, SP, cujo clima pode se caracterizado como semi-úmido. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar a hipótese de que a utilização da inércia térmica, em edificações submetidas ao clima específico da cidade, permite otimizar o desempenho térmico de edificações e reduzir a necessidade de sistemas artificiais de climatização para restabelece o conforto nos ambientes. Como base nos dados obtidos no monitoramento de ambientes de sete diferentes edificações, analisou-se o desempenho térmico de cada ambiente frente a condições típicas de inverno e verão. Para estes dois períodos, adotando-se um "dia de referência", fez-se o cálculo do desconforto por frio ou calor acumulado ao longo deste dia e se estimou a necessidade de aquecimento e refrigeração, para restabelecer o conforto térmico nos ambientes. Além das análises para inverno e verão, também se estimou a necessidade de aquecimento e refrigeração dos ambientes ao longo de todos os meses do ano. Esta análise permitiu verificar as reais influências da inércia térmica sobre as condições de conforto em edificações, as quais estão submetidas ao clima da cidade de São Carlos. As diversas formas de análise demonstram que apenas a utilização da inércia térmica não é suficiente para oferecer condições de conforto térmico nos ambientes, quando submetidos ao clima específico da cidade. Sugere-se que a utilização da inércia térmica seja combinada com outras estratégias de condicionamento passivo, de tal forma a otimizar o desempenho térmico das edificações.

These correlations are widely used and the results demonstrate that the verified values significantly differ from the ones currently recommended by the Brazilian norms concerning the thermal performance of buildings and the basic parameters of projects for central air-conditioners. The results highlighted the need to review these coefficients and take into consideration the interrelationship between the standards of local ventilation and construction regulations when calculating the thermal conditioning of buildings in order to minimize environmental impact and improve energy performance of buildings, which will reduce costs. / Este trabalho investigou e analisou as características e as condições de escoamento dos ventos que ocorrem no estado da Paraíba, a fim de determinar valores locais para os coeficientes de convecção do ar externo (hc’s), com base nos números adimensionais de Prandlt, Reynolds e Nusselt, e correlações empíricas com as sugeridas por Hilpert, que são largamente utilizadas, cujos resultados demonstraram que os valores verificados diferem significativamente dos valores atualmente recomendados palas Normas Brasileiras referentes ao desempenho térmico de edificações, e aos parâmetros básicos de projeto de centrais de ar-condicionado, conduzindo à necessidade de se reverem tais coeficientes e considerarem as inter-relações entre o padrão de ventilação local e o de ocupação do solo, quando do cálculo de acondicionamento térmico de edifícios, para se minimizar os impactos ambientais, otimizar o desempenho energético de edificações, aumentando a economia de energia reduzindo custos.

As some of the programs that preceded it , the MCMV has been marked by repetition of architectural and construction solutions that do not consider environmental or climatic factors . In the case of Housing Benjamin José Cardoso ( CHBJC ) in Viçosa-MG , we adopted a design -story house with two bedrooms , very similar to models that have been implemented in other regions of the country . In the face of climatic and environmental conditions of Viçosa-MG , located in bioclimatic zone 3 , are made necessary studies on the suitability of the model used , since the standard unit , performed in CHBJC , is now being replicated in other sets city . In view of this gap and regulatory provisions for environmental performance of residential buildings , this study aimed to examine the thermal and acoustic performance of building - type built in CHBJC and highlight aspects that influence the results of these analyzes . The methodological procedures comprised the determination of thermal properties ( NBR 15220:2003 ) and acoustic ( NBRS 10151:2000 , 10152:1987 and 12179:1992 ), exploratory interviews and on-site measurements of dry bulb temperature, relative humidity , temperature surface and sound pressure. For data analysis, we used the requirements and criteria set by the NBR 15575:2013. It was found that the units do not meet the minimum level of thermal performance analysis by simplified method, the method of in situ measurements, the units showed thermal performance above the minimum in summer, but in most cases , do not meet the level minimum performance in winter. Also found that the requirements set out in and critéiros NBR 15220 were not observed in the preparation of architectural design. As for the acoustic performance in 83 % of cases evaluated the requirement analysis , acoustic insulation of external seals , has been met. Although the analyzed units have not met all the requirements set by the standards, measures such as , for example, change the configuration of the windows and doors and the thermal mass of the walls, can improve the performance of the units of the set and other sets to be constructed in the region. / Uma das principais medidas do Governo para combater o déficit habitacional foi a criação do Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida (PMCMV), que visa incentivar a produção de novas unidades habitacionais e a aquisição por diferentes faixas de renda. Assim como alguns dos programas que o antecederam, o PMCMV tem sido marcado pela repetição de soluções construtivas e arquitetônicas, que não consideram fatores climáticos ou ambientais. No caso do Conjunto Habitacional Benjamin José Cardoso (CHBJC), em Viçosa-MG, foi adotado um projeto de casa térrea com dois quartos, muito semelhante a modelos que vêm sendo executados em outras regiões do país. Em face das condições climáticas e ambientais de Viçosa-MG, localizada na zona bioclimática 3, fazem-se necessários estudos acerca da adequabilidade do modelo utilizado, uma vez que a unidade padrão, executada no CHBJC, já vem sendo replicada em outros conjuntos da cidade. Em vista dessa lacuna e dos dispositivos normativos para desempenho ambiental de edificações habitacionais, o presente trabalho objetivou analisar o desempenho térmico e acústico da edificação-tipo construída no CHBJC e destacar os aspectos que mais influenciam nos resultados dessas análises. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados compreenderam a determinação das propriedades térmicas (NBR 15220:2003) e acústicas (NBRs 10151:2000, 10152:1987 e 12179:1992), entrevistas exploratórias e medições in loco de temperatura de bulbo seco, umidade relativa, temperatura de superfície e pressão sonora. Para a análise dos dados, utilizaram-se os requisitos e critérios definidos pela NBR 15575:2013. Constatou-se que as unidades não atendem ao nível mínimo de desempenho térmico na análise pelo método simplificado; pelo método de medições in loco, as unidades apresentaram desempenho térmico acima do nível mínimo no verão, mas, na maioria dos casos, não atendem ao nível mínimo de desempenho no inverno. Também se constatou que os requisitos e critéiros constantes na NBR 15220 não foram observados na elaboração do projeto arquitetônico. Quanto ao desempenho acústico, em 83% das situações avaliadas o requisito analisado, isolação acústica de vedações externas, foi atendido. Ainda que as unidades analisadas não tenham atendido a todos os requisitos definidos pelas normas, medidas como, por exemplo, alterar a configuração das janelas e portas e da massa térmica das paredes, pode melhorar o desempenho das unidades do conjunto e de outros conjuntos a serem construídos na região.

EUs direktiv för energiprestanda innebär att alla nya byggnader från och med 2021 ska vara nära-nollenergibyggnader. De stundande kraven innebär att beställare måste skärpa sina energikrav vid upphandling av flerbostadshus. Vidare spelar lågenergibyggnader som koncept en viktig roll för att nå hållbar utveckling och det är av högsta vikt att kommande byggprojekt blir effektiva både i byggprocess och vidare i driftskedet.  Nybyggnation av lågenergibyggnader har visat sig problematisk i många aspekter, där den uppmätta energianvändningen i många fall visat sig väsentligt högre än vad som projekterats. I och med den ny byggpraxis med bättre isolation, lufttäthet och ventilation med återvinning blir tappvarmvatten och hushållsel de största energiposterna i en byggnads energibalans.  Syftet med arbetet är att konkretisera problemen som finns för nyproducerade flerbostadshus med energikrav för lågenergibyggnader. Utifrån det har fokus lagts på två byggnader som AB Bostäder låtit bygga – båda projekterade för att uppnå lågenergikrav.  Likt befarat visar Examensarbetet att det är svårt att härleda problemet till specifika poster. Byggprocessen i sig kan vara en bidragande faktor, där tidsbrist, bristfällig kommunikation och okunskap kring ny byggpraxis är förekommande i en bransch som har svårt att hinna med den efterfrågade volymen av nybyggnation. Vad gäller specifika felkällor till försämrad energiprestanda stödjer vår rapport tidigare publicerade rapporter i ämnet där bristfällig indata vid energiberäkningar, byggprocessens inverkan, oaktsamhet av VVC-förluster och betydelsen av brukare har belysts. / The energy performance of buildings directive means that all new buildings must be nearly zero energy buildings by 31 December 2020. The current requirements mean that constructor companies must tighten their energy requirements when procuring multi-family houses. Lowenergy buildings as concepts play an important role in achieving sustainable development, and it is of the utmost importance that future construction projects become effective both in the construction process and on further operation.  New construction of low-energy buildings has proved to be quite problematic in many aspects, where the measured energy performance in many cases proved to be significantly higher than projected. With the new building practice with better insulation, air tightness and ventilation with recycling – hot water supply and household appliances become the largest energy posts in a building's energy balance.  The purpose of this master thesis is to concretize the problems that exist for newly produced multi-family houses with energy requirements for low-energy buildings. Based on this, focus has been on two building that AB Bostäder Borås recently has built – both built to achieve low energy requirements.  As expected, this master thesis shows the difficulty to deduce the problem to specific aspects. The construction process itself may be the source of error, where time shortages, inadequate communication and lack of knowledge concerning low energy buildings are present in an industry with difficulties catching up with the demanded volume of new construction. Regarding specific sources of vulnerability to energy performance, our report supports previously published reports where the lack of input data for energy calculations, the impact of the construction process, negligence of losses due to recirculation of hot water and the importance of user behaviour have been highlighted.

The diploma thesis entitled The influence of building insulation on the costs associated with its operation deals with the design of several variants of building insulation, and subsequent evaluation based on a comparison of operating costs of individual building variants. The theoretical part deals with the history of thermal insulation of buildings, there are types of thermal insulation materials and variants of energy-efficient houses. Then the normative requirements, energy intensity of buildings and methods of thermal insulation of individual building structures are solved. Subsequently, the methods of economic evaluation of the investment and the method of compiling the general budget are addressed. The practical part contains a description of the construction and the proposed variants of insulation, including the calculation of costs, evaluation of the payback period of the investment and evaluation of the proposed variants.

The diploma thesis is elaborate in order to evaluate the economic returns of each proposed building insulation options for seniors in Šternberk. For the calculation use to secluded brick apartment building in the street Žitná. The theoretical section describes the types of buildings according to heating demand and a list of different variants of thermal insulation materials. The second part contains suggestions for building insulation in several variants. It worked certificate of energy performance of buildings, costs of proposed options and the costs of operating the apartment building before and after the insulation. Based on the comparison of results is elaborate economic returns for each of the proposed options.
