A ironia nos contos de Julio Ramón Ribeyro / The irony in the tales of Julio Ramón Ribeyro

Fernanda de Almeida Silva 27 August 2018 (has links)
The objective of the dissertation \"A ironia nos contos de Julio Ramón Ribeyro\" is to analyse irony as a strategy in the short stories of peruvian writer Julio Ramón Ribeyro. Based on a selection of five short stories, the thesis investigates what roles irony acquires in each one and how it is developed within the narrative. The selection will explore in what ways the use of this writing device helps to define and structure the author\'s style. For this task, it was indispensable to have a close reading of the most important theories about irony, including works by George Lukács, Vladimir Jankélévitch, Mikhail Bakhtin, Wayne C. Booth, Linda Hutcheon and Beh Brait, as well as theories about the genre of short story itself, based on authors such as Anton Tchekhov, Julio Cortázar and Ricardo Piglia. Also important to understand the use of irony as a resource in Ribeyro\'s fiction was the literary criticism of the writer\'s body of work carried by authors like Peter Elmore, Eva Mª Valero Juan, Giovanna Minardi and Jorge Coaguila.

Julio Ramón Ribeyro: a tentação da palavra / Julio Ramon Ribeyro: the temptation of the word

Ana Cristina Jutgla 11 April 2012 (has links)
The study \"Julio Ramon Ribeyro: the temptation of the word\" aims to examine five short stories of this Peruvian author (1929-1994), whose work stands out among the narrators of the 50s generation of that Andean country, extending to the mid 90s. Our hypothesis considers the ambiguous nature of his short stories, its classic way of work, but it brings tensions of the modern plot and dialogues with the conservative modernization process in Peru. In this sense, his literature includes, among other issues, the author\'s concern with respect to the contradictions of the city of Lima, and its characters which are viewers of this process, carrying the frustration and failure of their expectations as marks.

Mauthes, Barbara 12 January 2018 (has links)
In this work we aim to study the poetry of two Peruvian nikkei writers: José Watanabe and Doris Moromisato. We hope to see how it reflects a process of identity building. Before going into the texts, we will provide a historical and sociological overview of the Japanese and Nikkei presence in Latin America, especially in Peru, through an examination of cultural artefacts paying tribute to the Peruvian Nikkei community formed at the beginning of the 20th century with the arrival of Japanese peasant workers. As members of this community (both are children of immigrants), Watanabe and Moromisato had to define themselves as Peruvians of Japanese origin, and did so largely by writing. We intend to demonstrate how each utilizes their family heritage to their advantage, integrating it into their Peruvian identity. We will study each author separately in order to clarify the essential characteristics of their poetic universes and their position in relation to their origins. We will see that Watanabe’s cultural heritage partially conditioned his work as a poet, and that his vision of the Japanese haiku, as passed down by his father, reveals unique insight into his artistic work. Conversely, Moromisato's undereducated Okinawan parents were unable to bring her into contact with Japanese literary culture, and it wasn’t until she was an adult that she encountered it in its exported form. Moromisato, who was born into a home closed off from influences outside those originating in /who was born into a home that thrived on memories of rural Okinawa, sees his multiple identities differently than Watanabe, who grew up in an environment that was open to peruvian culture.

January 2015 (has links)
abstract: ABSTRACT This interdisciplinary study examines the linguistic strategies that determine perception of female representation in Peruvian feminist narrative during the late XIX century. It uses as reference narratives that are considered representatives of the literary tendencies of Latin América feminine trajectory. The feminine subject was studied in two novels of Mercedes Cabello de Carbonera: Los amores de Hortensia (1886) and Blanca Sol (1889). The novels were selected with the aim of capturing the evolution and the development of the female characters as self-realizing subjects. The theoretical framework is led by the speech act philosophy of John Austin, John Searle, and Victoria Escandell Vidal. The feminist literary theory is guided by the feminist principle of Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray and Julia Kristeva that relates to the development of female subjectivity; by Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar, and Virginia Woolf that reveals the dynamics of women’s creativity. Through a close analysis of the speech acts, the research demonstrates that the female characters used their tactics to complain and request on their attempts to uproot the hegemonic normative social structures. The speech acts are presented as key instrument for a better understanding of the complex mechanisms of language, through which the feminist ideology of the nineteenth century is transmitted and reproduced. Within feminist theory the purpose is to show how the performative nature of language can be applied to the concept of power as subversive resistance. While the evolution of the female protagonists through the different spaces they move were traced, the investigation’s central idea that envisions the feminine subject as a process, was also examined. After comparing and contrasting the portrayal of the protagonists, a thematic analysis was performed to capture the intricacies of meaning within the discourse. The analysis suggests that female representation in literature can be reexamined through historical, political, and socio-economic contexts, as well as through verbal expression. Mainly, the comventional norms that limited women to some social places and that oblige them to maintain proper conducts did not silence them entirely, as we can observe in the petitions and complaints that became transcendent acts of defiance. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Spanish 2015

La función de la traducción quechua-español en el proceso del grupo editorial peruano Pakarina Ediciones / The function of Quechua-Spanish translation in the writing process of Peruvian editorial Pakarina Ediciones

Macuri Arquiñigo, Diana Nicole 11 January 2021 (has links)
There is a considerable debate about the translation of indigenous languages due to colonization history that has apparently prompted linguistical subordination. This possible subordination occurs in many social areas around the world, but in Peru, it could be mainly evident in Peruvian literature which deals with the active intervention of Quechua writers. This research will explore Peruvian Quechua writers’ objectives and strategies for analyzing the function of translation in Quechua literature. Particularly, this research will focus on agents of Pakarina Ediciones which is a Peruvian editorial that implies a relevant case due to the considerable bilingual Quechua literature and innovator monolingual Quechua literature. Through some semi-structured interviews, this study will analyze the activity and perspective of writers-translators and the editor of Pakarina Ediciones about translation function on Peruvian Quechua literature. / Trabajo de investigación
