Chicha music as an advertising resource to arouse emotions in the consumer

Duran-Palomino, Ana Kelly, Arbaiza, Francisco, Gallardo-Echenique, Eliana 01 January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to analyze the emotions aroused by tropical Andean music—popularly known as chicha—present in the advertising of a well-known beverage brand in university students. The power music exerts in advertising is already commonly known as well as how it can intensify the effect of the message and trigger an emotional reaction in the consumer. This Peruvian musical genre is usually closely related to Peruvian identity and attributes of its population such as racial and cultural intermixing, creativity and self-improvement. In recent years, this sound resource has been established in the commercial communication of Peruvian brands aimed at the modern neo-Limenian; many of them descendants of migrants, proud of their origin and culture. This study is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Through 16 interviews, the study shows how the presence of this musical genre can arouse positive emotions in the sample. In addition, the choice of music has to be coherent with the narrative structure of the advertising message to ensure optimal emotions.

An exploration into the perceptions of parents on their adolescent child’s sense of safety and future aspirations in a community characterised by violence

Butler, Letitia January 2020 (has links)
Magister Psychologiae - MPsych / Community violence has been found to have profound negative effects on the lives of those exposed to it daily. The victims often tend to be adolescents, who, while striving for a better future, are often quite vulnerable to its effects. The present study focuses on the perception’s parents hold of their adolescent’s sense of safety and future aspirations in a community with high levels of violence. The data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews with participants residing in a community prone to violence. The researcher purposively sampled eight participants and conducted interviews in both English and Afrikaans.

Exploring the Nature of Language Anxiety: Experiences of NonNative EnglishSpeaking College Students in the United States

Ito, Noriko 07 August 2008 (has links)
The thought of learning another language makes some people cringe, while others display neutral to positive reactions. To understand the complex experiences of students learning a new language, this study investigated the affective psychological development encompassing language anxiety (LA) among nonnative Englishspeaking college students in the United States (US). The purpose of this study was to identify LA, while keeping in mind that some of the LA experiences may be moderate to none, and to explore the nature of this phenomenon. Ten university students from nine different countries were interviewed concerning their experiences learning and functioning in English in the US. While only a few studies have reviewed the nature of LA encompassing the possible existence of facilitating LA, this study investigated both the positive and negative effects of anxiety on second language learning. The answer to the research question, "How do college students in the US whose native languages are not English experience LA" was pursued by using qualitative analyses. The results indicated a new construct of LA, identity frustration, and its relationships to the other LA constructs already specified in the literature. The study also suggested the timing when students cease to translate between the two languages to be the point where they experience a lower level of LA. In addition, four other themes emerged. They are culturerelated LA; the recursive nature of LA; relationships among selfexpectation, selfconfidence, and LA; and facilitating LA, termed euphoric language tension.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Juliano de Almeida Oliveira.pdf: 1059613 bytes, checksum: a88e1f295120d10a98fb69c5b12893aa (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-04-27 / This work wishes to investigate the writings of Levinas, from the perspective of the intentionality of consciousness in order to check the plausibility of considering it or not linked to the phenomenological approach, initiated by Husserl. In the three chapters which make up, we seek to provide: a) the thought of Husserl, array of contemporary phenomenology, in his theoretical and historical context, emphasizing the fundamental concept of intentionality animating consciousness, b) the first contact Emmanuel Levinas and the phenomenology and its interpretation of Husserl in this doctoral thesis which he defended in 1930, which highlighted his ontological reading of the Husserlian project, and in particular the understanding of intentionality - the essence of subjectivity - as transcendence c) the development and maturation of Levinasian philosophy, always in dialogue with the phenomenology, in which the ethical vision of otherness, based on the face of another, shall exercise primary role and serves as a criterion for evaluating the concept of intentionality, particularly his theory, which priority is to give way to a pre-theoretical dimension of consciousness - consciousness unintentional. We reach the conclusion that, if not in appearance sought by Husserl, the first momentum of intentionality - out of himself as his own constituent status - remains a strong point of the thought of Levinas and to suggest a Levinasian posterity of Husserl, to beyond all apparent total collapse / O presente trabalho deseja investigar os escritos de Levinas, a partir do prisma da intencionalidade da consciência, a fim de se verificar a plausibilidade de considerá-lo vinculado ou não ao pensamento fenomenológico, iniciado por Husserl.

Silva, Selma Luiza. January 2010 (has links)
Abstract: The sintering process of the 'UO IND. 2.'7%'Gd IND.2'O IND. 3' system has been investigated for a long time due to its economical importance to the nuclear industry and complex behavior during densification. Most researchers tried to describe and explain it using a phenomenological approach. Even though some light has been shed on the matter, the system sintering behavior is still very difficult to predict. The final density and microstructure of the sintered body is strongly dependent on properties of raw powders, temperature profile,, atmosphere composition, presence of sintering additives, among other process variables. A different approach to the problem overcame this difficulty by introducing the concept of the Master Sintering Curve - MSC. The MSC of the 'UO IND. 2.'7%'Gd IND.2'O IND. 3' nuclear fuel was constructed using constant heating rate dilatometry data. This development was carried out to predict and control the evolution of the density during the sintering path. The samples were produced from a dry misture of "UO IND. 2' and 2' e 'Gd IN> 2'O IND. 3' powders, pressed into compacts and sintered in a dilatometer up to 2023 K with different heating rates from 5 to 45 'Kmin. POT. -1', under a 'H IND. 2' atmosphere. Based on the MSC concept, the prediction of pellet densification was performed and it was observed a good agreement between the experimental and the predicted values. It was demonstrated that the MSC approach can be used to desing a suitable sintering temperature profile in order to obtain a desidered final density, even for reacting systems such as the 'UO IND. 2.'7%'Gd IND.2'O IND. 3', where the second phase should mostley get into solution. The apparent activation energy of sintering process could also be estimated by this method. / Mestre

The experiences contributing to young adults' consideration of emigration

Thompson, David Peter 09 September 2010 (has links)
It is a topic of discussion that finds its way into almost every setting in the South African context. Is leaving South Africa not the best option available to us? From old to young it seems many South Africans, are contemplating leaving the shores of South Africa in search of opportunity elsewhere. The purported reasons behind this exodus, or even just the thought going into the possibilities, are repetitive in the literature. Crime, affirmative action, standards of living, concerns regarding political and economic security for the future are all referred to. What is undeniable is the great loss of skills that is occurring as most of these people leaving are graduates. I wished to try and understand the experiences of some young adults who are currently contemplating, or in the process of emigrating. The focal question in this research is: “what experiences are fuelling the ‘brain drain phenomenon amongst our young adults?” The intention of this study is not in any way to find extrapolative answers, but instead to understand and describe the personal experiences of a select few. Therefore a Phenomenological approach was used in order to describe these participants’ experiences as closely as possible. The respondents were asked to write a ‘full’ response to the open ended question. This technique of data capture falls within the semi-structured interview framework, but allowed for the participants to provide a description of their experiences with the least possible opportunity for influence. It was of great importance that their descriptions be their own in order for the researcher to gain a proper understanding of their experiences. These descriptions were then analysed through thematic analysis. The themes that were identified seem to describe the ‘experienced meaning’ that the participants have formed rather than the physical experiences of such ‘reasons’ as discussed in the literature. Themes such as victimization, regret, insecurity, crime, fear, the need for freedom and job security were identified. For South Africa to turn this brain drain around it will be necessary for policy makers to take into consideration and act upon the physical experiences but also the experienced meaning that people form. Co pro ženy znamená stáří a stárnutí? / What does aging and old age mean for women?

Roedlová, Adéla January 2014 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the subjective view of middle aged and older Czech women on problematic of old age and aging. In connection of old age and aging they focus more on the aging of the whole society or relation between the generations, but not on a subjective perception and experience of this life stage and process. The aim of this work is to find out what women consider as the key elements of old age and aging and also to create a comprehensive view of aging from the women perspective. It is also essential to the thesis to determine the differences and similarities in the perception of aging in terms of age and life stage. In this thesis is used a method of qualitative research, which is grounded in the phenomenological approach and data collection is carried out using the ZMET research method. This projective technique of data collection, whose theory and practice is described in the work, is based on the idea that people do not think verbally but in images.
