Reforma de residências para deficiente físico em cadeira de rodas / Adapting homes for physically handicapped in a wheelchair

Gonçalves, José Luiz 05 April 1986 (has links)
The subject study refers to alternatives to be used in homes of physically handicapped people in wheeling chairs, proposed as micro-factors of social insertion, and at the same time as a macro-factor to allow him to circulated in town for an effective participation in the community\'s life. The built environmental structure that opposes partial or totally the people\'s reduced mobility are the architectural barriers witch are fully studied here to subsidize the modifications proposed. They seek to optimize the inhabited space/life quality binomial through rationalization and adequacy of space, to the demands of the handicapped user and wheeling chairs, his locomotor expedient, as well as access possibility to the home ambient and the utilization of its equipment. The sketched out analysis over the reaching of the physically handicapped when in wheeling chairs, as well as the dimensional demands for the circulation of that vehicle, is shown in the second part of this Thesis, in three chapters. It is not an inedited work thematically viewed. However, while bibliographic inventory and dimensional statistics of space and pertinent installations, it serves as a starting point for standards and pattern definitions suitable to the Brazilian reality and scale, that begins now to demand solutions for the problem of the handicapped people in wheeling chairs.

Elamidi, Sokaina, Amir Taher, Dalia January 2018 (has links)
There are several aspects which need to be considered while planning a building to achieve sustainable environment for people's well-being. One of the significant aspects is social sustainability which is largely about promoting everyone regardless of the circumstances. In a socially sustainable city, there should be access to meeting places to improve social life. The Park Paradiset and the Broparken in Vallastaden were designed to improve socializing between people. The parks in this work are examined based on social aspects; interaction and identity. In addition, a park should be designed based on different aspects to suit different people. This work considers aspects such as recreation/ leisure, cultural identity, accessibility and safety. Beyond these aspects, the stormwater management in the parks is also studied. These studies were conducted with systematic literature studies, site visits, survey and qualitative interviews. A site visit was in Vallastaden, where the authors explored the district and handed out survey to the resident. The interview for the Park Paradise was conducted with Ulrika Gunnman from White Arkitekter and the interview for the Broparken was conducted with Lina Moström from 02landskap. The result shows that the architects worked differently to achieve the social aspects. It can be concluded that Park Paradiset fulfills the aspects better than the Broparken based on survey results, site visits and the interviews. The results further show that the stormwater management for the parks consists of open systems. Open systems have even been current in the Park Paradiset. The open ditches in the park leads the water in the transverse dikes to a longitudinal dike. It can be concluded that the architects utilized stormwater management better in Broparken compared to the Park Paradiset, when the architects transformed the ordinary ditch into something attractive and gave the park a character.

Acessibilidade nos bens culturais imóveis: possibilidade e limites nos museus e centros culturais / Accessibility in historic heritage buildings: possibilities and limits in museums and culture centers

Assis, Elisa Prado de 19 April 2012 (has links)
Historic buildings are of interest to the wide population, including persons with disabilities or reduced mobility. The dialogue between preservation and accessibility needs to advance to provide good access and circulation solutions, thus allowing anyone to participate, no matter what their sensory, cognitive or motor characteristics may be. Legislation for preservation and accessibility in Brazil hardly mentions an interaction between these fields, creating huge conceptual and practical issues in resolving the matter. The goal of this work is to demonstrate that guidelines for preservation and restoration of these buildings allow for a path towards accessibility, and that accessibility can be implemented respecting the limitations necessary to preserve such an asset. Three steps have been established to analyze the proposed goal. First, the critical analysis of the existing parameters, such as laws, norms and instructions, which support the connection between preservation and accessibility. Then, a technical evaluation regarding accessibility and preservation of three study objects (used as museums or cultural centers) - Casa das Rosas, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and Pinacoteca do Estado -, showcasing their features and limitations. Finally, a look at the perception of disabled users, in order to examine the efficacy of the solutions used.

Gis-based Stochastic Modeling Of Physical Accessibility By Using Floating Car Data And Monte Carlo Simulations

Ertugay, Kivanc 01 September 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The term physical accessibility has widely been used by geographers, economists and urban planners and basically reflects the relative ease of access to/from several urban/rural services by considering various travelling costs. Numerous accessibility measures, ranging from simple to sophisticated, can be found in the GIS based accessibility modeling literature. However, whether simple or sophisticated, one of the fundamental shortcomings of the current GIS-based accessibility measures is that they are generally calculated from a fixed catchment area boundary based on constant traveling costs such as Euclidian (bird-flight) distance costs or transportation network-based average speed costs (e.g. 50 km/h for main streets and 30 km/h for local streets, etc.). Although such deterministic approaches are widely used in GIS-based accessibility modeling literature, they are not realistic, especially due to highly variable speeds in road segments and uncertainty in the accuracy and reliability of the accessibility measures. Therefore, this dissertation provides a new stochastic methodology for GIS-based accessibility modeling process by using GPS-based floating car data and Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) that could handle variations in traveling costs and consider all possible catchment area boundaries, instead of one average or maximum fixed catchment area boundary. The main contribution of the research is that / the proposed physical accessibility modeling could handle uncertainties in transportation costs, create significant improvement on accuracy and reliability of accessibility measures in terms of catchment area boundaries and support decision makers who are supposed to deal with accessibility, location/allocation and service/catchment area related issues. The proposed stochastic methodology is implemented to a case study on medical emergency service accessibility, in Eskisehir, Turkey and the results of the deterministic and stochastic accessibility models are compared. The main focus of the case study is not to evaluate a specific accessibility condition in a detailed manner but to provide a methodological discussion and comparison between the deterministic and stochastic accessibility modeling process. With the implementation to a case study, it is shown that / the results of the proposed methodology are more realistic than the conventional deterministic approaches.

To achieve this goal, it was necessary to analyse the laws, national rules, National Development Plan (PDI) of Ifes and publications that allow inclusion and accessibility of the school, as well as create its own avaliative instrument of this type of accessibility. It was used in this research case study with qualitative approach, observing the context and methods used to develop this proposal. We can evidence that the school inclusion in agricultural education, regard to student with low vision, is a big challenge due to the peculiarities of the technical course in farming and the existing physical structure, which remains unchanged since the Campus creation, in 1941. Since the application of physical accessibility Protocol was possible the physical assess of Santa Teresa?s Campus, which does not correspond to the required standards, and establish a dialogue between the real and the ideal, identifying the legislation application, rules and publications in the visual disability area as well as the institutional reality / Este trabalho buscou avaliar a acessibilidade f?sica: urbana, arquitet?nica e de produtos, no Instituto Federal de Ci?ncia e Tecnologia do Esp?rito Santo (Ifes) - C?mpus Santa Teresa, no tocante ao aluno com defici?ncia visual.
