A análise do objeto é analisado indutivamente. / School education must go beyond the basic teachings, and it is necessary for schools and universities to form citizens capable of understanding the social relations of science and technology. For this reason, this work proposes the use of films to work with high school students and technical staff in the light of the theoretical and philosophical approach STS (Science Technology and Society). From a qualitative approach of interpretive nature, we analyze and interpret the object of study: film as a teaching strategy for the promotion of ACT (Scientific and Technological Literacy) . The analysis of the object is analyzed inductively. The study was conducted in two stages: 1 - movie selection, analysis and preparation of the script, which is part of the educational product of this dissertation, prepared by the researcher , and 2 - application of the participating teachers PARFOR ( The National Teacher Training Basic Education ) the environment of the images was the direct source for the data collection and the researcher was the mediator . We used the film as text, image and sound, and sought to present the studies that justify as a strategy for teaching and learning in the classroom and providing reflections on the social relations of science and technology. The main results show that using feature films is an effective teaching strategy for working with the CTS approach.

An Examination of Selected Product Characteristics Associated with the Sales Success of Nontheatrical Film and Video WorksMunde, Gail Marie 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to test assumptions made about characteristics of nontheatrical film and video works that were thought to contribute to the frequency with which the works were purchased. This study proposed and tested three variables for which relationships to the sales success of nontheatrical film and video works were hypothesized, as well as four variables about which no hypotheses were forwarded.
Nineteen film and video distribution organizations contributed unit sales data for the period 1982-1987 on 151 works copyrighted between 1982 and 1984. These data were analyzed for relationships between sales totals and 1) curricular significance of the works' subjects, 2) relevance to general reading interest in the works' subjects, 3) intensity of competition faced by the works, 4) the works' Dewey classifications as compared to the composition of typical K-12 school library book collections, 5) the series or non-series status of the works, 6) the media format(s) in which the works were available for purchase and 7) the sources of the works' production financing.
Analyses of correlation and association were performed and no significant relationships were found between sales and curricular significance of the works' subjects, or their relevance to general reading interest. Some evidence was presented to suggest a significant association between the intensity of competition faced by a work and its eventual sales. None of the hypotheses about these variables was supported. However, the four remaining variables were found to be significant, or to approach significance, as correlates or associates of sales success.
The best predictor of sales for works intended for the K-12 school market was the work's Dewey Decimal classification. Other important findings included associations between high sales and intense product competition, between high sales and non-series status, between high sales and availability for purchase in 16mm film and between high sales and works that had been financed by the distribution organization.

O recorte temporal
relação à escrita histórica a partir destas fontes.
Abstract: This research aimed to comprehend the work of the Catholic church within the
cinematographic field in São Paulo, regarding specifically the activities of Centro Dom
Vital and Escola Superior de Cinema São Luis. The period chosen, between 1958 and 1972,
refers to the creation of Cine-clube do Centro Dom Vital and the closure of Escola Superior
de Cinema. Its purpose was to analize the relations between these catholic institutions-the
first related to the consolidation of a cinematographical culture and, the second, to the
attempt of implementing a practical education-and the catholic conceptions regarding the
film culture of the period, present in texts written by popes, by international catholic
cinema organizations, specially the OCIC (Office Catholique International du Cinéma), or
by the Brazilian Catholics militants working for the cinema apostolate - of the laicity or
clergy. It also linked the activities of these instituitions to the appearance of future film
critics, film theoreticians and film makers wihtout any connection with the christian
ideology. This way, it also understood how the relation between the Catholic militancy and
critics unnatached of such ideology took place, so between Laic and Catholic Institutions,
in order to understand the cinematographic phenomena and its consolidation in São Paulo
and in Brazil. This research used in its methodology a great part of primary sources, a
secundary bibliography and theoretical texts regarding the historical writtings based on
such sources. The results demonstrated that even though these institutions were created
with catholic intentions based on the lines of directions of the period, including the
methology work, in the activities of Cine-clube Centro Dom Vital and Escola São Luis the
cinematographic experience surpassed the ideals of religion. / Mestrado / Mestre em Multimeios

The Effect of Relationship Films on the Attitudes of Homemaking GirlsBrown, Mary Angeline 08 1900 (has links)
Films have been used with varying degrees of success to influence the attitudes of pupils of different ages and interests. Little has been done, however, to measure the attitudes of girls in high school homemaking classes. It is the purpose of this study to use films as an integral part of a group relationships unit and to determine what attitude changes, if any, are directly attributable to film content.
