Malmsjöåsen+ / Malmsjöåsen+

Hultén, Oscar January 2021 (has links)
The project explores three aspects of sustainability - social, ecological and economical - through an urban expansion of central Södertälje city. Turning the periphery of Geneta, Lina and Ronna into an essential part of Södertälje allows these troubled areas some breathing room, while surrounding them with a new type of urban structure based on large to low-scale sustainability.

Architecture and the public in interwar Britain

Shasore, Neal Ethan January 2016 (has links)
This thesis explores how the practice and profession of architecture was increasingly understood and discussed in terms of the public in the first half of the twentieth century through six case studies. In the age of universal suffrage, architects began to recognise that, in order for the profession to flourish, the built environment would have to respond to the demands of public opinion and publicity, and that design would need to appeal to the 'man in the street' if the profession was to establish its position in the new culture of democracy. 'Architecture and the Public in Interwar Britain' thus challenges the view that the mainstream of interwar British architecture was parochial and backward looking, and seeks to reintegrate the stories of many well-known but academically neglected projects and controversies into twentieth century architectural history, which remains dominated by attempts to nuance the privileged narrative of the growth and 'triumph' of Modernism and the International Style. Instead, I argue that architecture is better conceived as a broad discourse involving a number of agents of diverse positions and attitudes struggling with common critical and professional challenges. The first section of the thesis considers architecture in the Imperial Metropolis. After offering a re-reading of 66 Portland Place, the headquarters of the RIBA, through the lens of professional anxieties in the interwar years, it considers two controversial rebuilding projects: Regent Street and Waterloo Bridge. The thesis then considers architecture and publicity in the suburbs, offering close readings of factories along the new arterial roads out of London, in particular the Guinness Brewery and Gillette Factory amongst others. The final section of the thesis unpicks the idea of the civic centre in interwar Britain through the contrasting examples of Southampton Civic Centre and lastly Norwich City Hall.

Planning culture of tourism in Fortaleza-CE, Natal-RN, Recife-PE and Salvador-BA metropolitan regions / Culturas de ordenamento territorial do turismo das regiÃes metropolitanas de Fortaleza-CE, Natal-RN, Recife-PEpe e SalvadorBAa

Larissa da Silva Ferreira Alves 02 October 2013 (has links)
nÃo hà / This study aims to analyze the different planning cultures of tourism metropolitan areas of Fortaleza-CE, Natal-RN, Recife-PE, and Salvador-BA. We started from the hypothesis that, while tourism in these Metropolitan Regions (MRs) have been developed from the same process of structuring the activity in the northeastern territory of Brazil, mainly by structuring programs, as PRODETUR I, believed that there were influential local factors that defined, over time, different orderings of tourism in these MRs. Therefore, the theoretical-conceptual analysis of geographical space was based on the definition of Estaba (1999) on the concept of spatial planning. The methodological procedures were an adaptation of the Knieling; Othengrafen (2009a, 2009b) proposal, which states that, for the understanding of different planning cultures, it is necessary to characterize the "local culture", in the case related to the tourism sector. The working hypothesis was confirmed, as it was found that tourism was inserted in MRs from different ideological conceptions about that, according to actors, political and economic realities and local interests, planned and institutionalized the activity in their respective territories from different perspectives.

Local Development And Conservation Priorities

Kamberoglu, Bahar Burcu 01 March 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The thesis evaluates the case of Ortahisar where natural rock-caved storage sector has been the major dominant traditional economic activity since 1950s. However this economic sector has begun to recess because of conservation priorities after the declaration of G&ouml / reme Historical National Park including Ortahisar settlement in World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1986. In addition, the tourism sector has begun to develop gradually in the Region as large amounts of tourists began to invade because of the world heritage advertisement of UNESCO and has begun to threaten the town&rsquo / s local economy, natural rock-caved storage sector. The aim of this thesis is to balance the stone-caved storage sector and tourism sector facilities and integrate the sustainable sides of them with conservation and sustainability objectives in a socio-spatial planning model and to ensure these two sectors&rsquo / positive contributions to each other and local economy. Finally, the thesis will emphasize the contribution of heritage planning to the sustainability of the local economy, ensuring of each sectors contribution to each other and local economy and heritage conservation process.

This dissertation was developed under the Professional Master in Management and Evaluation of Education (PPGP) of the Center for Public Policies and Education Evaluation of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (CAEd / UFJF). The management case presented here addresses the construction of the Pedagogical Political Project of the state schools that belong to the Alvarães / AM - CRE - Alvarães Regional Education Coordination, as a legal requirement and instrument of organization of pedagogical work in schools. The research problem was defined in the following question: How can the Regional Education Coordination of Alvarães contribute to the process of elaborating the PPPs of the schools under its jurisdiction? The general objective of the study is to analyze the context - regional and school - of schools management of the regional coordination of Alvarães with respect to the PPP elaboration movement, reflecting on how CRE / Alvarães can contribute to the construction of the PPP By state schools under their responsibility. Initially, the context of management of the Coordination and the schools under its jurisdiction is described, based on the normative and organizational instruments that they use. Next, we identify the difficulties to elaborate the PPP and analyze how the elaboration movement can contribute to the organization of the management practices of the coordination schools. It adopts the theoretical reference that allows to make the discussion about Democratic Management, PPP and school autonomy and the participatory planning culture at the Alvarães Coordination level. The study follows the qualitative approach, and constitutes a case study. For the production of the data, a questionnaire was applied to the coordinators and interviews with school managers. The analysis of the questionnaires pointed to the existence of several coordinators who have been in the position for a short time, and coordinations created just recently. There is a shortage of staff for the pedagogical follow-up of the schools in the coordinators. From the interviews, the results indicate that managers think it necessary for schools to have their PPP. However, it is necessary to reflect on the participation of the school community and democratic school management in the elaboration of the PPP. In addition, it is necessary to analyze what instruments of participation the school offers to the community, since the APMC has been the only collegial instrument of the school. Parents' participation in school and the whole community should be more effective in strengthening the school / community bond and the participation of teachers in school needs to be improved. Finally, a PAE is proposed that is configured in an instrument of support of the coordination for the elaboration of the PPP with the schools.
