Fac tExtraction For Ruby On Rails Platform

In the field of software engineering, software architecture plays an important role particularly in areas of critical and large-scale software system development and over the years it has evolved as an important sub-discipline within the field of software engineering. However, software architecture is still an emerging discipline mainly attributed by the lack of standardized way for architectural representation and also due to lack of analysis methods that can determine if the intended architecture translates into correct implementation during the software development [HNS00]. Architecture compliance checking [KP07] is a technique used to resolve latter part of the problem and Fraunhofer SAVE (Software Architecture Visualization and Evaluation) is a compliance-checking tool that uses fact extraction. This master’s thesis provides fact extraction support to Fraunhofer SAVE for a system developed using Ruby on Rail framework by developing a fact extractor. The fact extractor was developed as an eclipse plug-in in Java that was integrated with SAVE platform, it consists of a parser that parses Ruby source code and then generates an abstract syntax tree. The architectural facts are extracted by analyzing these abstract syntax trees using a visitor pattern from which architecture of the system are generated. It is represented using the internal model of the SAVE platform. The fact extractor was validated using two reference systems of differing sizes developed using Ruby on Rails framework. A reference system with smaller size, which contains all the relevant Ruby language constructs, was used to evaluate correctness and completeness of the fact extractor. The evaluation result showed the correctness value of 1.0 or 100% and completeness value of 1.0 or 100%. Afterwards, a larger application with more complex architecture was used to validate the performance and robustness of the fact extractor. It has successfully extracted, analyzed and build the SAVE model of this large system by taking 0.05 seconds per component without crashing. Based these computations, it was concluded that the performance of the fact extractor was acceptable as it performed better than C# fact extractor.

Plug-in for stereoscopic studio production using 3Ds Max

In this day and age when 3D cinema is ever increasing in popularity and 3D television sets on the verge of becoming a reality in our homes, the media production companies are interested in looking at how they can start producing stereoscopic format media for this exciting medium. This thesis proposes a solution to parts of the stereoscopic production pipeline by examining and proposing the extent of the requirements of a plug-in to aid in the setting up and rendering of stereo pairs and ultimately proposing such a plug-in and modifying it to suit the proposed requirements. With a high emphasis on ensuring that the plug-in is capable of producing enjoyable stereoscopic content, the plug-in is tested by rendering a demanding scene previously used in factual production work. The findings of these tests ultimately lead to the evaluation of the plug-ins usefulness as a tool for not only the production studio involved but for anyone interested in generating material for this exciting medium.

We have developed the control point devices communicate with server devices. And also we have developed demonstrator application to show how devices will work.

As the interest for electrified vehicles increases due to a conversion from a fleet of vehicles powered by fossil fuels to more environment friendly and climate neutral options it is important to investigate the different alternatives closely. This thesis analyzes one of the options on a micro level. Data have been collected from a Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid, including travelled distance, battery state of charge and outdoor temperature. The objective is to develop a model describing how these different factors affect the charging profile. Two models have been developed: one focusing on the total charging time and one for the total electrical charge transferred from the charging station. The analysis show for instance that at higher outside temperatures the charging time decreases but the total charge transferred increases. The final multidimensional models are created by separately looking at one variable at a time to see how it affects the total outcome.

Eco-routing and scheduling of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) benefit from both connectivity between vehicles and city infrastructures and automation of vehicles. In this respect, CAVs can improve safety and reduce traffic congestion and environmental impacts of daily commutes through making collaborative decisions. This dissertation studies how to reduce the energy consumption of vehicles and traffic congestion by making high-level routing decisions of CAVs. The first half of this dissertation considers the problem of eco-routing (finding the energy-optimal route) for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) to minimize the overall energy consumption cost. Several algorithms are proposed that can simultaneously calculate an energy-optimal route (eco-route) for a PHEV and an optimal power-train control strategy over this route. The results show significant energy savings for PHEVs with a near real-time execution time for the algorithms. The second half of this dissertation tackles the problem of routing for fleets of CAVs in the presence of mixed traffic (coexistence of regular vehicles and CAVs). In this setting, all CAVs belong to the same fleet and can be routed using a centralized controller. The routing objective is to minimize a given overall fleet traveling cost (travel time or energy consumption). It is assumed that regular vehicles (non-CAVs) choose their routing decisions selfishly to minimize their traveling time. A framework is proposed that deals with the routing interaction between CAVs and regular uncontrolled vehicles under different penetration rates (fractions) of CAVs. The results suggest collaborative routing decisions of CAVs improve not only the cost of CAVs but also that of the non-CAVs. This framework is further extended to consider congestion-aware route-planning policies for Autonomous Mobility-on-Demand (AMoD) systems, whereby a fleet of autonomous vehicles provides on-demand mobility under mixed traffic conditions. A network flow model is devised to optimize the AMoD routing and rebalancing strategies in a congestion-aware fashion by accounting for the endogenous impact of AMoD flows on travel time. The results suggest that for high levels of demand, pure AMoD travel can be detrimental due to the additional traffic stemming from its rebalancing flows, while the combination of AMoD with walking or micromobility options can significantly improve the overall system performance.

<div> <p>Guided by the continuous manufacturing paradigm shift in the pharmaceutical industry, the proposed thesis focuses on the implementation of an integrated continuous crystallization platform, the oscillatory baffled crystallizer (OBC), with real time process monitoring. First, by defining an appropriate operating regime with residence time distribution (RTD) measurements, a system can be defined that allows for plug flow operation while also maintaining solid suspension in a two-phase system. The aim of modern crystallization processes, narrow crystal size distributions (CSDs), is a direct result of narrow RTDs. Using a USB microscope camera and principal component analysis (PCA) in pulse tracer experiments, a novel non-contact RTD measurement method was developed using methylene blue. After defining an operating region, this work focuses on a specific process intensification technique, namely spherical crystallization.</p> <p>Used mainly to tailor the size of a final dosage form, spherical crystallization removes the need for downstream size-control based unit operations (grinding, milling, and granulation), while maintaining drug efficacy by tailoring the size of the primary crystals in the agglomerate. The approach for generating spherical agglomerates is evaluated for both small and large molecules, as there are major distinctions in process kinetics and mechanisms. To monitor the spherical agglomeration process, a variety of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools were used and the data was implemented for scale-up applications.</p> <p>Lastly, a compartmental model was designed based on the experimental RTD data with the intention of predicting OBC mixing and scale-up dynamics. Together, with validation from both the DN6 and DN15 systems, a scale independent equation was developed to predict system dispersion at different mixing conditions. Although it accurately predicts the behavior of these two OBC systems, additional OBC systems of different scale, but similar geometry should be tested for validation purposes.</p> </div> <br>

The intended goal within the scope of this master´s thesis is to get acquainted with the product of EMONA INSTRUMENTS Company. There are two main concepts: the software version TutorTIMS – Advanced and the hardware version TIMS-301. Both concepts were bought into the laboratory, where the following subjects are being lectured: “Access and transport networks” and “Telecommunication network services”. Three laboratory exercises were prepared for both software version and hardware version. Both versions are modular and all designed exercises support independent and creative approach of students. All exercises also consist of standard parts, which are the description of the exercise and exemplary protocol solution. The first exercise is called “amplitude modulation” and is designed as an introductory exercise. Next are a couple of exercises which are designed to be performed on one workplace at the same time. The first of them is focused on practical verification of facts from amplitude shift keying, the second one focuses on link codes. This couple of exercises is the best choice, considering the hardware version of TIMS-301 and at the present time available modules in the lab. Software version is not limited in such way, but it was required to allow performing all of prepared exercises on both versions. Lastly there is a comparison between the software and hardware version and several options for hardware TIMS optimization.

VST (Virtual Studio Technology) is one of the most used for real-time audio processing. VST effects are inserted to host applications in the form of plug-ins. This thesis discusses a design of a VST host remote control using a Java applet displayed in a web browser. A graphical user interface of the applet consists of graphical controllers created in this thesis. The number of controlled parameters is passed on to the applet by server using an XML configuration file. Three types of controllers are available: a slider, a knob and a button. If a parameter value change occurs, the applet sends a message with the parameter values to the server. Subsequently, the server reacts to this change by setting the parameters of the loaded VST module. The proposed design was completely realized and practically tested.
