Čeští migranti v Polsku z pohledu transnacionalismu / Czech migrants in Poland from the perception of transnationalism

Roztočilová, Zuzana January 2021 (has links)
The work deals with the current Czech emigration to Poland. It examines how its representatives perceive their integration into Polish society and at the same time maintain transnational social ties in the Czech Republic. The author is based on the theory of transnational migration. Within this the- ory, migrants maintain ties with both the new country and the country of origin. This creates a transnational social network that connects the space of two states. At the same time as this process, however, an integration process is underway. Migrants thus integrate into the host society without breaking ties with their homeland. The imaginary space in which migrants find themselves is called the transnational social field in which migrants' identities are formed. These migrants are referred to as transmigrants. In the theoretical part of the work, the author introduces the theoretical basis of re- search on transnational migration and transnational identity. He also deals with general migration to Poland and Czech minorities in Poland. In the second part, he explains the research methodology, focusing mainly on the (auto) biographical approach, data collection techniques and their analysis. The author conducted a total of 11 in-depth interviews, which she analyzed by coding. It summa- rizes the results...

Kachna, nebo králík? "Věda o vědě" v Polsku a Československu 1962-1989 / Science of Science in Poland and Czechoslovakia 1962-1989

Kůželová, Michaela January 2015 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the Czechoslovak and Polish community of "scientists of science" (mainly historians, philosophers, and methodologists of science) from 1962 to 1989. It focuses not only on the inner evolution of this community (scientists, their works, scientific institutions etc.), but it also examines how was this community formed by the tradition of scientific thought on the one hand, and by the contemporary political and ideological context (Soviet influences, Marxism-Leninism, monopoly of the communist party) on the other. It focuses also on the ability of the scientific community to accept or reflect influences from the Western Europe or United States - which means from the so-called "capitalist countries". Two spheres are analysed to clarify dispositions of Polish and Czechoslovak "scientists of science" to foreign transfers: first, scientists' possibilities to travel to Western countries (research stays, participations at congresses etc.), and second, accessibility to foreign (mainly Western) scientific literature. Functioning of Western concepts in the community of Polish and Czechoslovak "scientists of science" is illustrated by an example of the reception of Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions from 1962. This dissertation shows that the role of scientific...

Ukrajinská národní identita na území západní Ukrajiny během polské nadvlády v meziválečném období (1918-1939) / Ukrainian national identity on the territory of Western Ukraine under Polish rule in the interwar period (1918-1939)

Riabushkina, Sofiia January 2017 (has links)
The national politics of interwar Poland aimed at the full assimilation of the national minorities, including Ukrainians who lived in the occupied region of Eastern Galicia. This thesis studies the political basis, tools and outcomes of polonization policy during the period between 1918 and 1939 on the territory of Eastern Galicia and its main city Lviv. Deep analysis of Polish and Ukrainian political doctrines, Polish legislation, books, articles and periodical of the interwar period, as well as of modern historiography (both Polish and Ukrainian) resulted in developing of a comprehensive understanding of why the policy of polonization, aimed on population of Eastern Galicia failed to change historical Ukrainian identity. The data gathered in the analysis proves that the Polish government used tremendously rigid, if not brutal, tools of assimilation, and it resulted in rejection of the Polish national identity by Ukrainians. Moreover, confidence in the fact that Ukrainians are nothing more than underdeveloped Poles-to-be rise led to the rise of Ukrainian radical nationalism on the eve of the Second World War. Keywords Ukraine, Poland, National Identity, Assimilation, Polonization, Interwar Period

Repatriační politiky Polska na příkladu Karty Poláka / Repatriation Policy of Poland on the Example of Pole's Card

Mařík, Jan January 2019 (has links)
The present thesis applies the method of historical institutionalism to analyze the repatriation policies of Poland and the way they have worked in practice. It describes the development of repatriation from the territory of the former Soviet Union, starting from the First World War to present. It examines the institutional changes that contributed to the current Repatriation Act and puts these changes into a deeper context. The following section introduces the "Karta Polaka" (lit. The Pole's Card), which according to the lawmakers, aims at materializing its holder's moral commitment to Polonia. To ensure the proper working of the "Karta Polaka"in practice, it was also necessary to amend the Citizenship Act - the relevant components of which will be also discussed in the thesis. By describing the development of the institution of the "Karta Polaka", my goal is to prove that the primary aim of helping the Polish diaspora in the East is no longer entirely true. In addition, thanks to the simple conditions for obtaining the "Karta Polaka", as well as a series of amendments to the law, it rather serves the purpose of repatriation, as the holders of the card can apply for Polish citizenship after a year. Although both laws are aimed at a different group of people, the "Karta Polaka" is gradually taking over the...

Židovské instituce v Dolním Slezsku v 50. a 60. letech 20. století / The Jewish Institutions in Lower Silesia in the 1950's and 1960's

Kroupová, Anna January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with Jewish institutions in Lower Silesia during the period of 50's and 60's of the 20th century. The area of focus is the Socio-Cultural Association of Jews (Towarzystwo Spoleczno-Kulturalne Zydów), which was historically the only Jewish association in Poland that was allowed to exist. The main aim of this thesis is to track down and analyse relationship of the representatives of the group with the communist party and its ideology in detail, since the party was not particularly inclined towards Jewish culture due to Israel's affinity with the West. Furthermore, after the introduction and analysis of the main sources and literature, the thesis briefly introduces a topic related to the restoration of life within the Jewish community after the World War II. After that, it concentrates on the formation and development of institutions and it follows the way members were educated in the spirit of socialism as well as how the Jewish culture was formed. The fundamental sources necessary for the study of this problematic are primarily files that came into existence as a result of certain activities of institutions, such as meetings of their bodies, documents informing about social life (invitations to events), repatriation records of the USSR saved in Archive of The Jewish...

Kořeny polského katolicismu / The roots of Polish Catholicism

Kubátová, Zuzana January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with Catholicism in Poland and its permeation through the Polish national identity. The introductory chapter characterizes the concept of identity Polak-Katolik and its individual aspects that co-create this concept, as a rate of religiosity; the interconnection of Catholicism with polish statehood; Christianity as a part of national identity and historical events during which the Polak-Katolik connection was strengthened. Although the Polak- Katolik model was created in the 19th century, the roots of this connection can be observed from the beginnings of the Polish history to the present. The thesis then focuses in more detail on selected historical milestones in Polish history, which shows, how the elements of Catholicism permeated into the identity of Poles. The thesis assumes that the permeation of polish-catholic occurred mainly in critical periods. Therefore, for the purposes of the work, mainly events were selected when the existence of the Polish nation was threatened and faith together with the Roman Catholic Church played significant role in its preservation, such as during the siege of the monastery in Czenstochowa, the period of polish partition and the period of communism. The final chapter deals with the current situation of Catholicism in Poland, the...
