Stora organisationer anses ofta vara trångsynta vad gäller sin syn på ny teknik och sitt nya sätt att arbeta. De måste ofta genomgå många processer innan beslut kan tas och förändringar kan ske. Om så skulle vara fallet uppstår ett problem i form av att organisationerna inte följer med utvecklingen och därigenom blir kontraproduktiva. Skulle dessa teorier stämma för exempelvis svenska kommuners IT-avdelningar upplyses ett problem som i längden kan drabba oss själva, det vill säga Sveriges medborgare. För att kunna belysa problemet har denna studie använt sig av Windowsverktyget PowerShell för att få ett mätverktyg som kan påvisa om IT-avdelningar är restriktiva mot förändringar inom tekniska områden. Med hjälp av en enkätundersökning kunde vi frambringa kvantitativ data som i sin tur kunde visa att det tidigare nämnda problemet påträffas. Slutsatsen är att kommunerna själva tycker att de har en positiv syn på ny teknik och nya arbetssätt men att deras handlingar bevisar annat.

This thesis deals with the design and implementation of an extensible provider for Windows PowerShell. This provider allows registering the adapters which provide access to various data stores. The thesis gives an introduction into PowerShell and outlines how to realize new extensions. It then elaborates the architecture of the provider in detail. Next part is devoted to the design and implementation of the adapter for compressed files. For this purpose, the SevenZip library is used which had to be adapted for the use from C# language. Therefore, the thesis also includes description of the wrapper allowing the library utilization from the managed code.

Denna rapport tar upp teorin bakom sannolikhet, backuper och hårddiskar. Baserat på detta implementeras en backup-plan med hjälp av NASar, för att ersätta den redan existerande lösningen. Behovet utav en säkrare, mer tillförlitlig backup, samt expansionsmöjligheter då företaget har en stark tillväxt, lades fram tillsammans med en budget för att ta fram en lösning anpassad utefter det faktiska behovet. Denna plan baseras på teorin i kombination med tredje-parts resultat och har som utgångspunkt den budgeten som erhållits utav företaget, för att slutligen uppnå en hållbar, expanderbar och automatiserad backup. Fortsättningsvis behandlar rapporten implementering i existerande infrastruktur, automation och enkel hantering utav backup och varför en 3-2-1 lösning bör användas. Rapporten ser att efter den nya lösningen har implementerats är det mycket mindre risk för att data går förlorat samt att en övergripande ökning i hastighet och automation kan ses. Slutligen, med hjälp av standardiserat verktyg lägger denna rapport en godkänd grund för andra att använda i deras implementationer eller att gräva djupare inom tillförlitlighets världen. / This report handles the theory behind probability, backups and hard drives. Based on this, a backup-scheme is implemented with the help of NASes, to replace the current solution. The need for a more secure, more reliable and a solution that is expandable due to the quick growth of the company, was put forward together with a budget to provide a solution suited after the effective need. This scheme is based upon theory in combination with third-party results and for this specific case has the budget, provided by the company, as a starting point to accomplish a sustainable, expandable and automated backup. Furthermore, this report implements this solution into the existing infrastructure where automation and simple handling of backups and why a 3-2-1 solution will be used. The report finds that after the new solution is implemented there is significantly less risk of data failure as well as an overall increase in speed and automation. Finally, with the help of standardized tools this report lay a decent groundwork for others to use in their implementation or to dig deeper into the world of reliability.

As companies continue to rely more and more on information technology (IT) infrastructure, automation of most processes become increasingly viable as a way of improving efficiency and cutting costs. One such application area is staff and user management. This becomes more and more important as a company grows and hires more and more people, as manually doing these management tasks becomes increasingly time-consuming and repetitive. Moreover, these management tasks become very costly for the company in terms of cumulative man-hours and decrease the workplace enjoyment of the staff that handles this processing. Many companies rely on Active Directory (AD) as a way of managing their staff and users. With the help of PowerShell, onboarding and offboarding of users can be entirely automated - as will be described in this thesis. This thesis describes the design and analysis of the entire onboarding process for a company. This description covers the connection between the human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) systems, as well as the script that takes data from the HR system and uses it to create users in AD and assign basic access rights to the user. In addition, the scripts also handle offboarding, which involves disabling users, removing their access rights, and eventually deleting them from the AD. As the host company already had strict requirements for the onboarding process, there was little room for researching alternative models and designs for the system; therefore, this thesis focuses on the design and execution of the script rather than the design and analysis of the onboarding process. The results are analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively in terms of accuracy and time saved in comparison with the manual execution of the same tasks. The conclusion is that using automation saves on average 585.155 seconds per new user. If a single person were to do 10 onboardings per day, this amounts to 40 hours per month, saving one entire work week each month. This automation can save money and resources by freeing this employee to focus on other projects and tasks. / Automatisering i de flesta verksamheter blir alltmer genomförbart som en strategi för att öka effektiviteten och minska kostnaderna eftersom företag fortsätter att förlita sig mer och mer på informationsteknologi (IT) infrastruktur. Administration av användare och anställda är ett sådant applikationsområde. Detta är viktigt när ett företag expanderar och anställer fler anställda eftersom att utföra dessa förvaltningsuppgifter manuellt kräver oerhört mycket tid och upprepning. Därtill ökar det ledningsansvaret, företagets totala arbetskostnader samt sänker personalenstillfredsställelse med sina jobb. Active Directory (AD) är ett populärt verktyg som används av många företag för att hantera sina anställda och användare. PowerShell kan användas för att helt automatisera användares onboarding och offboarding, vilket denna avhandling kommer att förklara. Den fullständiga introduktionsproceduren för ett företag beskrivs i denna avhandling, tillsammans med dess design och analys. Förhållandet mellan mänskliga resurser (HR) och informationsteknologi (IT) täcks i den här beskrivningen, liksom skriptet som exploaterar information från HR-systemet för att skapa användare i AD och ge användaren minimala åtkomstbehörigheter. Skripten hanterar också offboarding, vilket innebär att blockera användare, ta bort deras åtkomstprivilegier och slutligen ta bort dem från AD:t. I denna avhandling fokuserar vi på designen och utförandet av skriptet snarare än designen och analysen av onboardingprocessen av den orsaken att värdorganisationen redan hade specifika kriterier för onboardingprocessen, vilket lämnar begränsad flexibilitet för andra modeller och konstruktioner. Jämfört med manuellt slutförande av identiska aktiviteter utvärderas resultaten både statistiskt och kvalitativt i termer av noggrannhet och tidsbesparing. Studiens resultat visar att varje ny användare som använder automation sparar i genomsnitt 585.155 sekunder. En arbetsvecka skulle sparas varje månad om en enskild person genomförde 10 onboarding per dag, eller 40 timmar per månad. Genom att låta medarbetaren koncentrera sig på andra uppgifter och projekt kan denna automatisering hjälpa till att spara pengar och resurser.

The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of using application virtualization in the Windows environment. The theoretical part describes the operating principle of application virtualization. Furthermore, there are specified the individual characteristics and the reasons for the move to application virtualization. The author provides the basic overview and comparison of the specific ways of virtualization. The appropriate solution of the practical part was based on the Saaty method. In the practical part, the author describes in detail how to implement and use the chosen technology. Based on practical experience, he assesses functioning of the solution. The final part of the thesis includes both general and specific recommendations for the use of application virtualization.

This diploma thesis deals with registration of hardware in the banking environment which is typical of its limitations. The goal of the thesis is to design a system for automated hardware management that complies with all aspects of this environment. The first step to achieve the goal is a selection of development methodology and its adaptation to the nature if the project. The chosen methodology helps to understand and to define the system requirements in terms of future users. According to the requirements there is performed analysis of the market. The result of this analysis confirms the need for designing of a custom solution. For its development is mainly used scripting language PowerShell 2.0, supplemented by SQLite database system. Fully functional system which should decrease the time overhead and improve the quality of the services provided to our internal customers, is the main contribution of the thesis. Finally, after deployment of the system to the operation, is assessed suitability of the chosen methodology and evaluated success of the whole thesis.

The paper provides a comparative analysis of existing monitoring systems, identifying their advantages and disadvantages. After this a new version of the system of monitoring of the server infrastructure at various levels was designed and developed, and the implementation of which was also presented in a thesis. / В работе проведён сравнительный анализ существующих систем мониторинга, выявлены их достоинства и недостатки. Был спроектирован и разработан новый вариант системы мониторинга серверной инфраструктуры на различных уровнях, результаты введения в эксплуатацию которого также изложены в магистерской диссертации.

PowerShell obfuscation is often used to avoid getting detected by Anti Virus programs. There are several different techniques to change a PowerShell script and still perform the same tasks. Detecting these obfuscated files is a good addition in order to detect malicious files. Identifying the specific technique used can also be beneficial for an analyst tasked with investigating the detected files. In order to detect these different techniques we are using Natural Language Processing with the idea that each technique will be sort of like a unique language that can be detected. We tried several different models and iterations of data processing and ended up using a Random Forest Classifier and achieved a detection accuracy of 98%. / PowerShell obfuskering används ofta för att undvika att bli upptäckt av Antivirusprogram. Det finns flera olika tekniker för att förändra ett PowerShell script me ändå behålla dess funktionalitet. Att detektera dessa obfuskerade filer är ett bra tillägg för att identifiera skadliga filer. Identifiering av den specifika tekniken som används kan vara en hjälp för analytiker som har som uppgift att utreda den identifierade filen. För att detektera dessa tekniker använder vi Natural Language Processing med idén att varje teknik på något sätt kommer se ut som ett eget språk som då kan detekteras. Vi provade flera olika modeller och kom fram till att Random Forest Classifier presterade bäst med en träffsäkerhet på 98%.

The thesis is dealing with creating and implementation of helpdesk system with diagnostics (feedback) for The Best Network Solution, the IT outsourcing company, serving for maintenance theirs computer networks, equipment and end customers support.

This project discusses optimization of e-mail and SMTP traffic in proprietary product of Microsoft Exchange 2013 in regard of marine industry. The goal is at first to analyze the requirements of this service on slow and unreliable network connections, SMTP traffic and then the product itself. Afterwards it defines specification  for the final product and prepares the test environment. Design and implementation of transport agent using Exchange Management Shell is described for synchronization of two installations of Microsoft Exchange 2013; and focuses on emerged problems during the development, discusses different approaches and possible solutions. Testing shows various shortcomings of found solution. Finally, analysis of final solution shows possible future improvements and a need of security upgrade before applying to production environment.
