Asserhed, Lina, Högberg, Johanna January 2011 (has links)
Physical activity as prescription [PAP] has been used in Sweden since the  beginning of this millennium as a method to increase physical activity. Advising  physical activities has scientifically been proved to be efficient. School nurses can  influence the development of the pupils ́ health by health talks. This thesis is one part of  the evaluation of an ongoing joint project where School Health is included to develop  PAP among children and youth. The aim was to illuminate school nurses’ attitude as  well as, experiences in Physical activity as prescription [PAP] as a tool within school  health’s preventive work. A questionnaire study was carried out in order to find out the  answers to these questions. The study showed that all the school nurses were positive to  participate in the joint project, even though only half of the school nurses had  experienced participation in this project and had prescribed PAP. The focus of the  School Health on preventive work was confirmed  and school nurses showed great  interest in training in counselling skills. Lack of participation, knowledge and time were  identified as barriers to prescribe PAP. The survey has given insight into the school  nurses’ work with PAP and has shown the importance of a well thought-out preparatory  work when introducing new working methods, such as PAP.
