Addiction to alcohol is recently becoming e serious social phenomenon. It is obvious that the help depends on the effort of different specialists. The goal of this work is not to consider alcohol addicts as weak – willed people but try to find problems they confront with and the ways to solve them. In the theoretical part of the work the concept of addiction the symptoms and the stages of developments are explained. Also the origin of alcoholism, intoxication, peculiarities of alcohol addicts are examined. A separate chapter of the work is about addiction treatment. Factors having influence on addicts recovering are analyzed too. In the research part methodies have been provided and analysis done. The goal of research is to find out what and who disturbs and helps in the process of recovering. Questionnaire and descriptive statistic methods, t – test ant changeability level have been used. The research has been organized in order too compare the group in hospital with the group using mutual assistance. In this work it has been tried to attain purpose and solve problematic questions. The role of a social worker has been analyzed and conclusions have been drawn. Vyro priklausomybė nuo alkoholio stipriai paliečia jo žmoną. Nors Lietuvoje Al-Anon grupės veikia jau beveik dvidešimt metų, tačiau jas lankančių priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų psichologinė savijauta nėra tyrinėta. Tyrimo problema nusakoma klausimu: ar priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų psichologinė savijauta susijusi su jų Al-Anon savitarpio pagalbos grupių lankymo faktu ir trukme, bei vyro esamu santykiu su alkoholiu? Pagrindinis tikslas yra ištirti priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų psichologinę savijautą ir nustatyti jos sąsajas su Al-Anon savitarpio pagalbos grupių lankymo faktu ir trukme, bei vyro esamu santykiu su alkoholiu. Psichologinė savijauta matuota suvokiamos gerovės (Perceived Wellness Survey), darnos, lankstumo, komunikacijos šeimoje, pasitenkinimo šeima (FACES IV) ir netiesioginės priklausomybės (Spann-Fischer Codependency Scale) konstruktais. Socialiniai - psichologiniai priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų duomenys taip pat suteikė svarbių įžvalgų. Tyrime dalyvavo 136 priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonos ir 30 moterų, kurių vyrai neturi problemų dėl alkoholio vartojimo. Nustatyta, kad priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų suvokiama gerovė statististiškai reikšmingai yra žemesnė nei moterų, kurių vyrai neturi problemų dėl alkoholio vartojimo. Netiesioginė priklausomybė statistiškai reikšmingai neigiamai susijusi su kitais priklausomų nuo alkoholio vyrų žmonų psichologinės savijautos konstruktais. Though Al-Anon self-help groups in Lithuania are active already almost twenty years, alcohol addicts‘ wives who attend these groups has not been investigated. Problem of this research is defined by question: does psychological condition of alcohol addicts‘ wives is associated with the fact of Al-Anon groups attendance, duration of this attendance and current her alcohol addicted husband‘ condition in regard to alcohol use. The main aim of this research is to investigate psychological condition of these women and to assess its relation with the fact of Al-Anon groups attendance, duration of that attendance and current her alcohol addicted husband‘ condition in regard to alcohol use. Psychological condition was measured with Perceived Wellness Survey, Family Adaptation and Cohesion Evaluation Scales (FACES IV), and Spann-Fischer Codependency Scale. Other social – psychological data about wives of alvohol addicts was gathered and revealed significant remarks. 136 wives of alcohol addicts and 30 women, whose husbands have no problems with alcohol usage, participated in this research. It was found that perceived wellness, perceived wellness of wives of alcohol addicts is statistically signnificant lower than women, whose husbands have no problems with alcohol usage.
