A Precious View

Fang, Yihuan 20 January 2021 (has links)
Architecture can be significant in defining a particular place. While architecture typically offers basic shelter, its value and contributions to culture lie beyond these basic needs. The thesis proposes that by specific framing of a scenery, a view of the city can be a contribution which inspires a Precious View. / 10 / A Precious View in this case is not only about the image that we see but also the scent we smell, the sound we hear, or the wind we feel. Not only what we see matters, but all senses contribute to that what we call experience. This thesis explores ways to offer a Precious View by framing the skyline of Midtown New York.

Kontrola situace za vozidlem / Checking of the Situation Behind the Vehicle

Ryšavá, Kristína January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of control the situation behind the vehicle, in the theoretical part discusses the indirect view from the vehicle, reaction time and possibilities of its measurement and the possibilities of measuring eye movements using eye trackers, The second part of the thesis deals with the description of the measurement method used to obtain the needed data and the analysis of the situation behind the vehicle using rear view mirrors by analyzing the duration of the fixations in the rear view mirrors and the total duration of the view in the rear view mirrors.

An Inquiry Into the Moral Significance of Doxastic and Epistemic States: Examining the Circumstantial Element of Moral Obligation

Keenan, Gregory William 01 January 2011 (has links)
This thesis explores the moral significance of agent beliefs and epistemic states. In particular it will explore the following question: is an agent's moral obligation a function of her actual circumstances, what she believes those circumstances to be, or what her evidence indicates those circumstances are? Three corresponding views are explored and it is argued that each of these views is subject to one of two substantial worries, which are developed in this thesis (i.e. the manipulation worry and the unreasonableness worry).

A Transputer Based 3D-Graphics System

Alvermann, Klaus 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1992 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / The Institute for Flight Mechanics operates the flying simulators ATTAS (a wing aircraft) and ATTHeS (a helicopter), their respective ground based simulators and uses realtime and offline simulations for system identification and other purposes. Based on a parallel transputer architecture, a 3D-graphics tool for visualization and view simulation to be used with the simulations has been developed. The tool uses data received by telemetry, realtime data from a simulation, or recorded data to show the movement and orientation of an aircraft in realtime 3D-graphics. The aircraft or scene may be observed from any point of view. Placing the camera in the cockpit of the aircraft and showing the environment results in a view simulation. The use of a parallel transputer architecture allows a modular and scalable structure, i.e. the system may be adapted to the needs of the application. By adding software modules and transputers we may include 24 bit colour, shadowing, a higher resolution, a better shading algorithm or other things which are required by an application. On the other hand we may remove transputers to get a small and cheap system if the requirements are low. A small system may consist of only 8 transputers, whereas a big system may include 50 or 60 transputers.

Heat Transfer Simulation of Reactor Cavity Cooling System Experimental Facility using RELAP5-3D and Generation of View Factors using MCNP

Wu, Huali 16 December 2013 (has links)
As one of the most attractive reactor types, The High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) is designed to be passively safe with the incorporation of Reactor Cavity Cooling System (RCCS). In this paper, a RELAP5-3D simulation model is set up based on the 1/16 scale experimental facility established by Texas A&M University. Also, RELAP5-3D input decks are modified to replicate the experiment procedures and the experimental results are compared with the simulation results. The results show there is a perfect match between experimental and simulation results. Radiation heat transfer dominates in the heat transfer process of high temperature gas-cooled reactor due to its high operation temperature. According to experimental research done with the RCCS facility in Texas A&M University, radiation heat transfer takes up 80% of the total heat transferred to standing pipes. In radiation heat transfer, the important parameters are view factors between surfaces. However, because of the geometrical complexity in the experimental facility, it is hard to use the numerical method or analytical view factor formula to calculate view factors. In this project, MCNP based on the Monte Carlo method is used to generate view factors for RELAP5-3D input. MCNP is powerful in setting up complicated geometry, source definition and tally application. In the end, RCCS geometry is set up using MCNP and view factors are calculated.
