Metoder för lastprioritering i fjärrvärmecentraler / Load priority in district heating substations

Eriksson, Andreas January 2010 (has links)
A problem in the field of district heating is the oil burners needed to provide power when a peak load occurs. One possible way of reducing the needed amount of oil is to reduce the power demand for space heating in the district-heating substations when the need for district heating water exceeds a certain limit. This can be done by use of a locally working controller function. In this Thesis the options concerning load priority are evaluated. To evaluate the potential for using controller functions concerning peak load priority an experiment was brought out in a chosen district-heating substation. The impact on the indoor thermal comfort during a heat reduction was also taken into account. With simulations and mathematical models the building and the indoor air cool down was evaluated. Also a survey was given to the residents to validate how the indoor thermal climate was affected during the experiment. Possible savings by using these kinds of functions were also accounted for. The result demonstrates that a simple controller function provides a possible way of reducing the power demand, but is not sufficiently reliable. This is mainly due to the used regulating parameter. With modifications or by adding additional regulating parameters such as water flow into the controller, the functionality can be improved. The result from the survey shows that during the experimental period the residents experienced a minor impact on the thermal comfort. Parameters, such as ventilation and heat losses also have a major impact on the building´s thermal inertia, especially at the lowest occurring outdoor temperatures. The simulations confirm the theory regarding the building heat capacity to prevent a negative impact on indoor thermal comfort. In addition, the indoor air temperature can initially decrease faster than the building framework, especially under the influence of ventilation. This must be taken into account when applying functions for load priority. Calculations indicate that the economical benefits by adapting functions for load priority are primarily for the heat-producer, due to reduced oil dependence and also other system aspects. The current ownership structure in Uppsala provides for a possible obstacle when it comes to expanded use of load priority functions. More incentives for the consumer are needed to provide for an increased usage of load priority functions in their district-heating substations.

Visualization of Dynamic Information

Tyboni, Cecilia January 2012 (has links)
Sandvik IT Services (SITS) ambition is to provide a smooth and suitable IT environment for the whole Sandvik organization. The idea is that SITS should provide end-to-end solutions globally in an efficient manner. To ensure that they can provide this, they have to be efficient in their work. To handle problems regarding incident and support, they have a large TV screen that shows important information about different processes. The demand for the information has increased; therefore the information displayed on the screen has also increased. Today, the amount of information on the screen is too big and it makes the information difficult to read and absorb. This work will help make SITS application management more effective in the future. Through Workshops for both managers and developers, it is necessary to find out the difference of what SITS requires to diversify priority information. And also be able to view the information in a user-friendly way, a layout of the information is suggested. The result of this work is to produce a design proposal.

Energy Management System for Smart Homes

Huang, Hsin-Chih 20 July 2012 (has links)
Issues related to global warming and weather changes have forced people start to pay attention to energy saving. We expect that Smart Home Energy Management (SHEM) would be an important development over the next decade. In some environments cost is important, in other environments living quality is important and in other environments a tradeoff between cost and living quality is important. SHEM means being able to manage electrical loads so as to meet different purposes in homes. In this thesis, we develop a SHEM to curtail some electrical loads at peak time to meet predefined circuit level demand limits while minimizing the effect on users¡¦ living quality. The core of our SHEM is an electrical control loop which is developed based on heuristic modifications through lots of case studies and trials. To this end, we study several utilization characteristics of household loads including air conditioning, water heaters clothes dryers, and electric vehicles and model their behaviors through computer simulations. Finally, we implement the whole ideal of our SHEM in LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench). Several simulations are conducted to verify the robustness and efficiency of our SHEM. keyword : Quick Charge,Load Priority,Convience Preference,Severity Indices,Duration Indices.

Location Management of Correlated Mobile Users in the UMTS

Lin, Chung-Wei 26 July 2004 (has links)
In this paper, we propose the correlated concurrent search approach to simultaneously and efficiently locate the mobile stations in the communications networks. Previous work either focuses on locating a single mobile user or assumes that the locations of mobile users are statistically independent. We first propose a mobility model in which the movements of mobile stations are statistically correlated. Next, we propose a new approach to discover the correlations among the mobile stations without calculating their joint location probability distribution function. Our simulation results show that as long as the correlation coefficient is larger than to a specific value, the location correlation could be used to reduce the average paging delay and increase the maximum stable throughput.

A Study on Students¡¦ Wrong Chinese Characters in Elementary Schools Educational Priority Area of Kaohsiung City

Yuan, Chao-kai 01 December 2005 (has links)
A Study on Students¡¦ Wrong Chinese Characters in Elementary Schools Educational Priority Area of Kaohsiung City Pao-Kuei Wu Chao-Kai Yuan Abstract This research mainly discusses the topic of miswritten or wrong Chinese characters in elementary schools within educational priority area (EPA), and collected sample based upon the gradual competence indicators set by the Educational Administration ministry for national language(Chinese) courses of the National Nine-Year Curriculum for elementary and junior high schools. Specifically, 3rd and 6th graders¡¦ Chinese writing tests were examined, and the wrong characters were categorized into three parts according to character structure, character strokes, and stroke-order. In the material analysis, the data are being processed according to descriptive statistics, product-moment correlation , and the t-test statistical methodology. The results are the following: 1. EPA¡¦s quantity of vocabulary knowledge and wrong character type has a negative correlation. 2. For EPA¡¦s quantity of vocabulary knowledge and orthographic classification, the Character-structure component, and three is a negative correlation between qubntity of vocabulary knowledge and non-structures components. 3. For EPA¡¦s orthographic classification and wrong character category , there is a negative correlation between the root of the character and characters that lacked strokes.there is a positive correlation between the the non-structures component and characters that had additional strokes.Similar character parts and characters that either had additional or less strokes have a negative correlation. 4. According to the competence indicators of the Nine-Year Curriculum, recogniction of the classification of the root of the character at the first stage is not apparent. Recognition at the second stage of the classification of the character root is more apparent, while there is a limited recognition of change in character structures. 5. Within the EPAs as the accumulation of vocabulary knowledge increases with age, it is possible to perceive gradually the characteristics of orthographic structures, but recognition development is still slow. The following is suggested based upon the research result: 1. The students¡¦ habit of using a dictionary should be nurtured, and the method of looking up a character by its character root should be encouraged. 2. In teaching new vocabulary, the character radical classification and structure principle should be used to help recognize the character. 3. It is suitable to use the ¡§ distribution practice¡¨. 4. ¡§Part teaching¡¨and the editing of character-source teaching material should be motivated. 5. Calligraphy education and using the blackboard to teach should be advocated and utilized.

Analytic Models for a Cellular CDMA System with Variable Code Reservation Periods and Cell Coverage

Hou, Jaw-Huei 10 May 2006 (has links)
In this dissertation, we present mathematical analyses for a cellular CDMA communication system by investigating two important performance factors, the spreading code reservation periods and the cell coverage in soft handoff. First, an innovative code assignment scheme is presented by fully utilizing the characteristics of voice and data traffic. In other words, a voice terminal has higher priority to reserve a spreading code to transmit packets in multiple talk spurts, while a data terminal can only transmit packets by either employing the unassigned codes or borrowing the codes from the voice terminals during their silent periods. The code assignment scheme is then extended to analyze a priority-based CDMA system where the code reservation periods can be varied. Two performance measures, the average dropping probability for delay-sensitive traffic and the average packet delay for delay-insensitive traffic, are derived from the analytic models based on the equilibrium point analysis (EPA). Finally, for the cellular CDMA system, we study the influences of enlarging or shrinking the soft handoff coverage on the new-call blocking and the handoff-call dropping probabilities. From the mathematical analyses, we reveal that enlarging the outer cell while fixing the inner cell may significantly increase both blocking and dropping probabilities. On the other hand, if we enlarge the inner cell and fix the outer cell, the two probabilities can be reduced slightly. The impact of activating a call admission control on the proposed cellular CDMA system is also discussed.

A Negotiable RSVP with Multiple Preemption for supporting Dynamic Bandwidth Reservation

Lin, Yen 29 July 2003 (has links)
In this Thesis, we propose a Negotiable RSVP with Multiple Preemption for supporting dynamic bandwidth reservation. With the properties of negotiation and preemption, we can re-allocate bandwidth to effectively increase the probability of successful reservations of flows with higher priority. Different from RSVP, negotiable RSVP uses a priority mechanism with many parameters, such as upper-bound bandwidth and upper-bound priority. Negotiable RSVP transmits these parameters by sending Resv Messages such that every RSVP flow possesses individual priority levels. When the available bandwidth is not enough, the arriving new flows can negotiate with the existing reserved flows that have lower priorities. We then estimate the sum of the available bandwidth and the preemptive bandwidth from the reserved flows. If the sum satisfies the lower-bound bandwidth of the arriving new flow, the reservation is successful. At the best case, if the sum can meet its high-bound bandwidth, the system can reserve the high-bound bandwidth for the flow. However, if the sum is lower than its low-bound bandwidth, it will be rejected. To demonstrate the efficiency and feasibility of negotiable RSVP, we build two simulation models, RSVP and Negotiable RSVP, respectively, and compare their simulation results. We have shown that negotiable RSVP can perform better than RSVP in many ways. For example, the probability of successful reservation and the number of reserved flows are significantly increased. We also implement the negotiable RSVP on FreeBSD platform, and measure the percentages of improvements through various experiments.
