Problematika náboru pacientů do klinických hodnocení / Patients'Recruitment Issues in Clinical Trials

Hrubá, Dagmar January 2017 (has links)
This thesis examines patient recruitment in clinical trials. It is a current and pressing issue, which is not sufficiently embedded in the thinking of doctors and patients, their patterns of communication, and more broadly in the traditional doctor-patient relationship, which continues to be burdened by post-socialist paternalism. The formal framework and ethics have been developed relatively recently, and their application causes confusion to all participants regarding how to proceed in specific situations. In addition, the choice of topic, and especially the form of dealing with the topic, was motivated by the relative lack of academic resources and publications in the field. The theoretical section of the thesis defines clinical research and its phases, and introduces basic terminology and documents closely linked to clinical research. In addition, it focuses on research ethics, thoroughly examining the issue of informed consent - a fundamental document necessary for recruiting a patient in a clinical trial. Finally, one chapter of the thesis focuses on the issue of medical literacy, the level of which is integral to the participants' understanding of the importance of clinical research, and directly affects participants' decision-making. The empirical section is divided into two parts. The...

Diploma thesis deals with the recruitment process and focuses specifically on the method of advertisements on the internet. I decided to analyze and categorize the job offers for middle managers, which were publicated on selected job website for certain period and then contact companies that advertised with questionnaire. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether the companies were able to obtain sufficient number of suitable applicants and to what extent was it influenced by the fact whether the advertisers acted in the way they could attract suitable candidates for the job in middle management positions.

A Recruit's Dilemma: Collective Decision-Making and Information Content in the Ant Temnothorax rugatulus

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: An insect society needs to share information about important resources in order to collectively exploit them. This task poses a dilemma if the colony must consider multiple resource types, such as food and nest sites. How does it allocate workers appropriately to each resource, and how does it adapt its recruitment communication to the specific needs of each resource type? In this dissertation, I investigate these questions in the ant Temnothorax rugatulus. In Chapter 1, I summarize relevant past work on food and nest recruitment. Then I describe T. rugatulus and its recruitment behavior, tandem running, and I explain its suitability for these questions. In Chapter 2, I investigate whether food and nest recruiters behave differently. I report two novel behaviors used by recruiters during their interaction with nestmates. Food recruiters perform these behaviors more often than nest recruiters, suggesting that they convey information about target type. In Chapter 3, I investigate whether colonies respond to a tradeoff between foraging and emigration by allocating their workforce adaptively. I describe how colonies responded when I posed a tradeoff by manipulating colony need for food and shelter and presenting both resources simultaneously. Recruitment and visitation to each target partially matched the predictions of the tradeoff hypothesis. In Chapter 4, I address the tuned error hypothesis, which states that the error rate in recruitment is adaptively tuned to the patch area of the target. Food tandem leaders lost followers at a higher rate than nest tandem leaders. This supports the tuned error hypothesis, because food targets generally have larger patch areas than nest targets with small entrances. This work shows that animal groups face tradeoffs as individual animals do. It also suggests that colonies spatially allocate their workforce according to resource type. Investigating recruitment for multiple resource types gives a better understanding of exploitation of each resource type, how colonies make collective decisions under conflicting goals, as well as how colonies manage the exploitation of multiple types of resources differently. This has implications for managing the health of economically important social insects such as honeybees or invasive fire ants. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Biology 2019

Personality and demographic correlates of effective retail sales managers

Levy, Justin 23 February 2013 (has links)
The use of personality traits in the determination of an individual’s future job performance is considered to be a valid measure that offers organisations the ability to carry out career planning, pre-employment selection and promotional testing amongst other uses. The incorrect placement of an individual has negative implications on the business that manifest themselves in different forms but the most prevalent is that of the loss of productivity and increased costs. This study was carried out in the hope of producing an additional measure in the identification of the most suitable candidates for a sales management position. The study was conducted utilising a qualitative research design. A total of (n) = 218 respondents took part in this study and completed the research instrument. The statistical tests that were conducted are that of correlation and linear regression testing between the identified independent and dependent variables. The results produced from the study corroborate the use of personality traits as a predictor of an individual’s future job performance is flawed. It was determined that the dimensions of the big five personality traits were not correlated to, nor could not offer any predictive ability with the required level of significance that of the dependent variables. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

The gap between the auditing firms expectation and graduate economics view of acquired competence from Bachelor of Economics : An examination of the potential gap between acquired competence in economics education compared against what is expected of the audit firms

Olsson, Michaela, Ödman, Melissa January 2020 (has links)
Background: As in previous years is The Big Four considered one of the 100 most attractive employers in Sweden, which indicates that it is still of great interest to work with auditing. Working with auditing means a teamwork, and an auditor can be seen as a link between the company they audit and the company's stakeholders. The Swedish title for certified public accountant is protected and requires both a theoretical and a practical education, in the form of bachelor’s degree in economics and additional theoretical education according with RI studies curricula and practical at an auditing firm. Previous research has highlighted the problem of differing perceptions of expectations from audit firms and the skills of newly graduated economists. Question: What gap exists between the auditing firms expectation and graduate economics view of acquired competence, compared to the competence gained from an bachelor of economics? Purpose: The study aims to explore how well prepared newly graduated economists are based on the auditing firms expectations of their competence. As well as whether there is a possible lack of the expected competence placed against the education of the academy, by examining whether the skills that newly graduated economists obtained from their education correspond to what members of the accounting college believe they should have obtained at the degree. Method: In this study, a qualitative method was used, and the empirical material was collected through semi-structured interviews. The interviewees interviewed three different groups: recruiters, assistant auditors and faculty members of the Accounting College of a university. Results and conclusions: The results of the study shows that there is an expectation, that the newly graduated economists should possess basic accounting knowledge and that there is a gap between the received competences obtained at the examination from the bachelor studies and which are subsequently obtained at the accounting firms. A change needs to be made, either by the educational plan or by the content of the education.
