Análise de conforto e elastocinemática das suspensões de duplo estágio de um veículo de competição off-road em ambiente multicorpos / Elastokinematic and ride analisys of a off-road competition vehicle double rate suspension using a multibody model

Este trabalho apresenta o estudo da dinâmica vertical de um veículo off-road de competição e do comportamento elastocinemático de suas suspensões primárias de duplo estágio com o auxílio da ferramenta computacional de simulação de sistemas multicorpos MSC-ADAMS. O modelo multicorpos do veículo inclui os modelos da suspensão dianteira, suspensão traseira, sistema de direção, pneus e massa suspensa. As análises elastocinemáticas das suspensões definiram geometrias que permitem longos cursos de trabalho das suspensões sem variações indesejadas de parâmetros de projeto. Com a análise modal do modelo de veículo completo foram definidos os valores de rigidez das molas das suspensões de duplo estágio que resultaram em valores de freqüência natural no primeiro estágio semelhantes aos indicados para carros de passeio e no segundo estágio, próximos dos encontrados em veículos de competição. A análise de conforto do veículo durante simulação de passagem por trecho de pista demonstrou que os elementos de força definidos na análise modal resultam em níveis de conforto raramente encontrados em veículos de competição. / This dissertation presents the study of a off-road competition vehicle ride and the double rate suspensions elastokinematic behavior using the multibody software MSC-ADAMS. The vehicle multibody model includes the rear and front suspensions, the steering system, the tires and the sprung mass. The suspensions elastokinematic analysis defined geometric configurations that allowed long jounce and rebound travel of wheel, without undesirable project parameters variations. In the modal analysis of the vehicle multibody model, the springs rates that results in natural frequencies values similar to passenger cars for the first suspension stage and, for the second stage, similar to competition vehicles, were defined. The ride analysis during the simulation of the vehicle running on a rough track showed that the force elements defined on the modal analysis resulted in a good ride quality, rarely found in competition vehicles.

Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem zařízení pro měření parametrů podvozku závodního vozidla (sbíhavost/rozbíhavost, příklon/odklon, světlá výška vozu, rozložení hmotnosti), které následně slouží pro jeho seřízení. Úvodní teoretická část uvádí přehled nejdůležitějších parametrů podvozku, které mají podstatný vliv na chování a ovladatelnost vozu a které jsou tak nejčastěji předmětem zájmu. Následující kapitola shrnuje metody a zařízení, které se dnes pro měření parametrů podvozku využívají a uvádí jejich výhody a nevýhody. Předposlední kapitola teoretické části je věnována obecným doporučením pro měření parametrů podvozku vozidla a jeho seřizování. Poslední kapitola teoretické části uvádí požadavky na zařízení, jehož návrh je předmětem této práce. Úvod praktické části práce je věnován popisu konstrukce dvou navržených variant pro měření parametrů podvozku vozidla. Následující kapitola pak popisuje přípravu a průběh měření s využitím navržených souborů zařízení. Další kapitola je věnována výběru snímačů a zařízení pro měření. Závěr této kapitoly pak shrnuje přibližné celkové náklady na výrobu obou navržených variant. Poslední kapitolou je napěťová a deformační analýza navržené podpěry automobilu, která podepírá automobil namísto jeho kol. Závěr diplomové práce shrnuje dosažené cíle a zároveň uvádí návrhy a doporučení dalšího vývoje navržených zařízení.

This thesis is concerned with the design of Formula SAE rear axle suspension and spring suspension. First part of the thesis deals with the preliminary desing and is followed by the kinematic analysis and optimalization of the rear axle geometric ordering. Next part is related to the verification of the spring suspension characteristics. Both these parts were worked up with the aid of the software ADAMS. Last part of the thesis includes the engineering desing of rear axle components and stress and deformation analysis.

This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a self-driving model race car that is intended to participate at NXP Cup race. First of all, the attention is given to the selection of a suitable platform, which will be used for the implementation of a motion control algorithm that enables autonomous navigation of the autonomous model race car along a specified track. Then, the details of motion control algorithm design and its implementation aspects are explained.  Also, the design of an obstacle detection system is presented. Finally, the work is concluded with presentation of various experiments with the implemented self-driving control algorithm and its evaluation.

Venturi Undertray : KTH Bachelor Thesis Report

This bachelor thesis aims to describe the work performed for the design of the undertray for the Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan Formula Student(KTHFS) race car. The goal was to achieve an aerodynamically optimized undertray design that follows the regulations of the competition and the targets set by KTHFS concerning the weight, the size, the materials needed for its manufacture and costs. After some research on previous work, the concept, on which we decided that the undertray would rely on, is Venturi tunnels inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie, chosen for its ability to provide a large amount of downforce with a negligible amount of drag using ”ground effect”. Numerous CAD design models were created in Solid Edge and a finalized design was then ported over to Siemens NX to be analyzed using Star-CCM+ and its Design Manager feature. The CFD analyses and optimization was performed in Star-CCM+ with regards to pressure gradient, streamline velocity and downforce. These were done with variable parameters in areas such as expansion height, inlet area and ride height. Contained within this report is a more detailed description of how the CFD analysis was performed as well as suggestions for manufacturing said undertray. Given the time constraints and the societal impacts of COVID-19, manufacturing had to be removed from the scope of the project, however, a step-by-step manufacture guide is provided within. Analysis of uur final design showed 428 N of downforce, a weight of 2.55 kg and a production cost of approximately 2320 SEK. It therefore passes the requirements for weight, cost and ride-height rule regulations set by Formula Student and internal KTHFS targets. / Detta kandidatexamesarbete syftar till att beskriva arbetet som utförts för konstruktionsdesignen av Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan Formula Student (KTHFS) racerbils underrede. Målet var att uppnå en aerodynamisk optimerad underredes design som följer de regler och krav fastställda av KTHFS gällande vikt, storlek, material som behövs till tillverkningen och kostnader. Efter en litteraturstudie på tidigare arbete, blev Venturi tunnlar, inspirerade av Aston Martin Valkyrie, konceptet som vi beslutade att uderreden skulle bygga på och valda på grund av deras förmåga att förbättra bilens prestanda genom sitt nedkraftsbildande och försumbar mängd drag med hjälp av ”ground effect”. Många CAD-designmodeller skapades i Solid Edge och en slutgiltig design överfördes sedan till Siemens NX för att analyseras med Star CCM+ och dess Design Managerfunktion. CFD-analyserna och optimeringen utfördes i Star CCM+ med avseende på tryckgradient, strömlinjehastighet och nedkrafter. Dessa gjordes med variabla parametrar i områden som utvidgningshöjd, inloppsarea och frigångshöjd. I denna rapport finns en mer detaljerad beskrivning av hur CFD-analysen utfördes samt förslag för tillverkning. Med tanke på tidsbegränsningarna och samhällseffekterna av COVID-19 fick vi ta bort tillverknink från projektets omfattning, men en steg-för-steg tillverkningsguide tillhandahålls i rapporten. Analyser av vår slutgiltiga design visade på 428N downforce, en vikt på 2,55 kg och en produktionskostnad på cirka 2320 SEK. Den överenstämmer därför kraven för vikt, kostnad och frigångshöjd som fastställdes av Formula Student.
