Approaching autonomous shuttle pilot programs in public transportationHunter, Alicia January 1900 (has links)
Master of Regional and Community Planning / Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Gregory Newmark / Investment, research, and development of autonomous vehicles grows each year. As the years pass, more and more transit agencies are interested in incorporating autonomous vehicles as a public transit service. However, there are still unknowns and uncertainties as to the safety and viability of autonomous vehicles. For transit agencies to incorporate autonomous vehicles in public transit, agencies need to validate the application of autonomous vehicles in real-world scenarios and environments. One option for testing the vehicles is for transit agencies to implement an autonomous shuttle pilot program. A pilot program will give agencies an opportunity to learn if and how autonomous vehicles can enhance or improve transit services. Even though autonomous shuttle pilot programs have been deployed worldwide, there has been little comparative analysis. This report addresses the need for knowledge by providing practical considerations of essential pilot program elements. To assist transit agencies, this report illustrates previously executed autonomous shuttle pilot programs, identifies the core elements of a pilot program, and discusses the relationship between elements. To accomplish these tasks, this report reviews nine European autonomous shuttle pilot programs, literature surrounding the topic, and interviews key personnel associated with the pilot programs. The results of this research help transit agencies make informed decisions about approaching autonomous shuttle pilot programs in public transportation.

Relationship Quality in Social Commerce Decision-MakingDinulescu, Catalin C 08 1900 (has links)
This research study involves three essays and examines CRQ-driven decision making from the points of view of the common firm, social-commerce platform provider, and social-commerce echo-system. It addresses CRQ's progression from traditional business-to-consumer (B2C) initiatives to social platform-specific antecedents and to environment-driven factors lying outside the direct control of the platform provider, yet influencing social commerce business decisions, such as user-generated content from peers (e.g. family, friends) and expert authority (e.g. specialists, experts, professional organizations). The research method used statistical, data mining and computer science techniques. The results suggest that social platform providers should take a proactive approach to CRQ, fully leverage their online platform to improve CRQ while paying special attention to security as a potential barrier, and consider the analysis of elements of the echo-system such as the electronic word of mouth (eWOM) to further drive CRQ and determine the level of alignment between customers and experts, suppliers and products featured, that may lead to value-added managerial insights such as the prioritization, promotion and optimization of such relationships.

The solo classical guitar concerto : a soloist’s preparatory guide to selected worksFourie-Gouws, Josina Nina January 2017 (has links)
The study addresses the preparatory information needs of potential performers of solo classical guitar concerti. Identifying a range of specific decisions that play an important part in the pre-performance planning of an anticipated concerto performance provides performance considerations for each selected concerto. The content of six solo classical guitar concerti spanning almost 180 years by six composers from four countries was analysed for the purpose of this study. Two early guitar concerti by guitarist composers Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829) and Ferdinando Carulli (1770-1841), two modern concerti by non-guitarist composers Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968) and Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999) and two modern concerti by guitarist composers Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) and Leo Brouwer (b.1939) were investigated.
The study examines specific compositional and performance aspects of each concerto to serve as a guideline for professional performers, students and teachers. Each concerto was analysed according to similar themes: the historical significance of the investigated concerti, pre-performance considerations, the level of difficulty of selected concerti, technical observations, performance recommendations and observations regarding balance between the soloist and orchestra. As an addendum the study provides a comprehensive list of published concerti for solo classical guitar. / Mini Dissertation (MMus)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / Music / MMus / Unrestricted

Självskattad fysisk aktivitet bland yrkesverksamma fysioterapeuter i Sverige i relation till WHO:s rekommendationer för fysisk aktivitet. / Self-reported physical activity among working physiotherapists in Sweden, in relation to WHO recommendations on physical activity.Ribic, Ibro, Söderberg, Daniel January 2021 (has links)
Background: Physical activity is one of the foundational treatments that physiotherapists use to treat patients. How physically active are physiotherapists themselves? Objective: To determine the self-reported physical activity of working physiotherapists in Sweden in relation to the World Health Organisations recommendations for physical activity from 2010 and determine if physical activity and attainement rate of the recommendations differs between male and female physiotherapists in Sweden. Method: A cross-sectional quantitative descriptive comparative design study. Self-reported physical activity for 1 week using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire – Short Form compared to the World Health Organisations recommendations for physical activity from 2010. Moderate or vigourous physical activity activity minutes were translated into MET-minutes. Participants were working physiotherapists in Sweden between the ages of 18-64. Results: Seven of ten (74%) respondents were sufficiently active to fulfil the recommendations through moderate or vigorous physical activity in combination with at least two bouts of muscle strengthening exercises for major muscle groups. There were no significant statistical differences between male or female participants in physical activity level or the rate of attainment of the recommendations. Conclusions: Working physiotherapists in Sweden seem to be more physically active than the general population. No statistical differences were observed between men and women in physical activity or attainment rate of the recommendations. More and larger studies are needed to research physical activity levels among physiotherapists and compare self-reported physical activity with objective data collected by using accelerometers to research the discrepancy between these two types of data collections methods within the population.

Nitrogen Mineralization Dynamics of Post Harvest Crop Residue in No-Till SystemsAlghamdi, Rashad Saeed January 2020 (has links)
In North Dakota, adoption of conservation tillage practices has resulted in an accumulation of crop residue remaining on the soil surface. North Dakota producers receive a nitrogen credit for long-term no-till but due to previous crop residue this credit may not be realistic for providing partial nutrient needs to subsequent crops in a cool environment with a short growing season. Our objectives were to evaluate the N mineralization potential of common crop residues to determine whether crop residue accumulation in no-till systems can provide sufficient nitrogen quantities needed for subsequent crops. Three lab incubation studies were conducted to provide N mineralization insights for individual crop residues, crop residues over several simulated growing seasons, and crop residue in diversified cropping systems. Differences in soil texture, surface application versus incorporation of residue, freeze and thaw cycles and combinations of residues were all factors examined. Results indicated that crop residue decomposition and N release from the residue treatments generally immobilized N but were not significantly different from the bare soil for nearly all studies. The only exception observed was for the forage radish cover crop which showed the potential to improve soil N mineralization in select three-year rotations. Findings of these studies show that most wide C:N ratio crop residues will immobilize soil N in a no-till system under ideal conditions (i.e. moisture, temperature, and residue particle size). These findings suggestion that a fertilizer N credits may require reevaluation and take into consideration soil moisture with validated data to support the fertilizer N credit.
