En toda relación humana existe un potencial de conflicto, este se incrementa en relaciones donde hay mayor cercanía e intimidad como en la pareja. La inversión en la pareja y las estrategias para resolver conflictos son importantes para el desarrollo adecuado de la relación. En este estudio se comparan las estrategias de manejo de conflictos y el nivel de inversión en la pareja en personas casadas que asisten a un grupo religioso de ayuda marital y un grupo que no asiste al programa. La muestra estuvo conformada por 100 personas casadas entre 21 y 60 años que participan de un grupo religioso de ayuda marital y 100 personas que no participan de este grupo. Se aplicaron dos instrumentos: Inventario de Manejo de Conflictos (Arnaldo, 2001) y la Escala de Modelo de Inversión de Pareja (Rusbult, 1998). Los resultados muestran que hay diferencias en la estrategia de Evitación en cuanto al sexo, teniendo mayores puntajes los varones; así como también hay diferencias en cuanto a la asistencia al programa, teniendo mayores puntajes en Afecto y Reflexión los que asisten y mayores puntajes de Inversión los que no asisten. There is potential conflict in every human relationship, which increases with higher levels of proximity and intimacy as in love relationships. Relationship investment and conflict management strategies are important for the development of the couple. The present study compares conflict management strategies and the level of relationship investment of married couples who assisted a marital support religious group and couples that didn't assist to the religious program. The sample was composed by 100 married people with ages that ranged 21-60 and that assisted a marital support religious group, and another 100 married people who didn't. Two instruments were used: the Conflict Management Inventory (Arnaldo, 2001) and the Rusbult's Investment Model Scale (Rusbult, 1998). Results showed differences in the use of the Avoiding strategy, regarding sex. It seems that men tend to use it more than women. There are also differences related to the asistance to the program: couples that assisted got higher scores in Affect and Reflection while those that didn't assist scored higher in Investment. / Tesis

La presente investigación tuvo como propósito, estudiar la relación entre la Inteligencia emocional y la Satisfacción marital en personas casadas de Lima metropolitana. La muestra se obtuvo de los padres de familia de un colegio privado en Miraflores, cuyas procedencias son de diversos distritos de Lima. Participaron 262 personas: 159 mujeres (60.7%) y 103 hombres (39.3%) de 21 a 64 años (M= 42.04; De= 8.06). Se utilizó la Escala de Satisfacción Marital (ESM) (Pick & Andrade, 1988) y el Inventario del Coeficiente Emocional de BarOn (ICE-BarOn) (Ugarriza, 2001). Preliminarmente se evaluó la validez según la estructura interna mediante el análisis factorial confirmatorio; la confiabilidad fue examinada mediante la consistencia interna según el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach; para el análisis principal, se evaluó la normalidad de las variables y se utilizó correlaciones Pearson. El grado de asociación de las dimensiones de Satisfacción Marital y la Inteligencia Emocional fue entre bajo y moderado con dirección positiva. De esta manera, se entiende que personas con altos niveles de inteligencia emocional son capaces de aportar al grado de satisfacción marital. Finalmente, no se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el género, edad, tipo de matrimonio, número de hijos y años de matrimonio. Se discuten los resultados teóricos y prácticos, las limitaciones y recomendaciones de estudios. / The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Marital Satisfaction in married people. The sample was obtained from parents of private school in Miraflores, whose origins are from various districts of Lima. 262 people participated: 159 women (60.7%) and 103 (39.3%) men from 21 to 64 years old (M= 42.04; De= 8.06). We used the Marital Satisfaction Scale (ESM) (Pick & Andrade, 1988a) and the BarOn Emotional Coefficient Inventory (ICE-BarOn) (Ugarriza, 2001). Preliminarily the validity according to the internal structure was evaluated through confirmatory factor analysis; Reliability was examined by internal consistency according to Cronbach's alpha coefficient; for the main analysis, the normality of the variables was evaluated and Pearson correlations were used. The degree of association of the dimensions of Marital Satisfaction and Emotional Intelligence was between low and moderate with positive direction. In this way, it is understood that people with high levels of emotional intelligence are able to contribute to the degree of marital satisfaction. Finally, no statistically significant differences were found in gender, age, type of marriage, number of children and years of marriage. The theoretical and practical results, the limitations and recommendations of studies are discussed. / Tesis

La identidad étnica – racial, así como el desarrollo de los vínculos tempranos, son factores influyentes en las dinámicas de las relaciones interpersonales, específicamente en las relaciones de pareja. Al respecto, no existen suficientes investigaciones sobre la satisfacción marital desde un enfoque intercultural. La presente investigación es un estudio cualitativo que tiene como objetivo explorar la experiencia de la satisfacción marital en un grupo de mujeres casadas afroperuanas de Lima Metropolitana. Se utilizó el enfoque hermenéutico y el método biográfico, con siete mujeres casadas afroperuanas entre 28 a 38 años de edad, de nivel socioeconómico medio y con rango de años de matrimonio entre los 4 a 10 años; las cuales fueron escogidas a partir de un muestreo por cadenas o redes. Para ello, se utilizó una guía de entrevista de historia de vida semiestructurada y focalizada. Se encontró que las experiencias desde su identidad étnica – racial impactan en la forma de comprender los componentes que forman parte de la satisfacción marital en las mujeres afroperuanas (dinámicas de comunicación, compromiso y satisfacción sexual – afectiva). / Ethnic - racial identity as well as the development of early relationships are influential factors in the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, specifically in partner relationships. In this respect, marital satisfaction has been studied in a reduced way since in an intercultural approach. This research is a qualitative study that aims to explore the experience of marital satisfaction in a group of married Afro-Peruvian women from Metropolitan Lima. The hermeneutical approach and the biographical method were used with seven Afro - Peruvian women between 28 and 38 years of age, of medium socioeconomic level and with a marriage range of 4 to 10 years; which were chosen from a sampling by chains or networks. For them, a semi-structured and focused life history interview guide was used. It was found that the experiences from their ethnic - racial identity impact on the way of understanding the components that are part of marital satisfaction in Afro - Peruvian women (communication dynamics, compromise, sexual – affective satisfaction). / Tesis
