I dagsläget finns ett begränsat utbud av forskning som beskriver hundens sociala, kognitiva och emotionella effekter på människor. Det kan bero på att det finns svårigheter i att mäta dessa effekter av en hund, samt att det kan tänkas vara svårt att dra några generella slutsatser. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hundens påverkan på äldre personers liv utifrån en praktisk, social, kognitiv och emotionell inverkan. Studien utgår ifrån fem kvalitativa intervjuer med äldre personer som är hundägare. Empirin tolkas utifrån kvalitativ innehållsanalys och resulterar i kategorier och de kopplas sedan samman med tidigare forskning och teoretiska utgångspunkter i KASAM, copingteorin samt anknytningsteorin. Hunden ses som ett kontaktskapande hjälpmedel vid promenaderna och hunden uppges aktivera dem fysiskt, vilket leder till positiva hälsovinster. Intervjupersonerna beskriver hunden som ett kognitivt stöd för dem. Stödet ser olika ut men samtliga intervjupersoner uppger att detta stöd och denna närhet ses som någonting väldigt värdefullt för dem. Hunden ses som ett stöd i bearbetandet av sorg, ledsamhet och glädje. Hunden beskrivs som en trygg punkt som ger dem möjligheten att hantera och ventilera tankar och känslor med hunden.

Cette thèse traite de l’organisation sociale des Noirs et de leurs relations avec les Indiens Chachi du littoral équatorien, à travers l’étude de la cuisine. Le processus culinaire, de la production à la consommation des aliments, est abordé sous l’angle sensoriel et affectif. D’une part, ce processus vise à désodoriser et réodoriser les aliments carnés. Symbole d’hygiène et de degré de civilisation, les techniques utilisées à cette fin sont déterminantes dans les relations entre Noirs et Chachi. Le fait de les adopter favorise la mise en place de stratégies individuelles économiques et/ou migratoires. L’inverse conduit à produire de la discrimination sociale et à estomper ou à renforcer la distance sociale entre eux. D’autre part, l’analyse du lien entre cuisine et affects révèle une obsession chez les Noirs de rester chrétien. Autrement dit, il est nécessaire d’entretenir une relation de réciprocité avec les saints, les Vierges et Dieu. Il faut également éviter la « tentation » et les risques de métamorphose en « ennemis ». C’est en contrôlant les affects, notamment au moment de cuisiner, que les Noirs atteignent leur objectif. Ainsi, la cuisine sera analysée à travers trois aspects : le système alimentaire des Noirs en faisant ressortir l’importance des odeurs ; l’adoption ou non de la désodorisation par la marinade et ses conséquences dans les relations entre Noirs et Chachi ; la maîtrise des émotions en cuisinant au quotidien et lors de certains rassemblements catholiques. Finalement, ce travail montre une interpénétration sociale et culturelle, sélective et dynamique des populations noire et indienne. / This dissertation examines the social organization of the Blacks of coastal Ecuador and their relations with neighboring Chachi Indians through the study of cooking. The cooking process, from the production to the consumption of food, is approached from the angle of the senses and emotions. On one hand, the process involves removing odor and then adding odor to meat. These "deodorizing" and "reodorizing" techniques, symbols of hygiene and the degree to which one is "civilized", are crucial to relations between Blacks and Chachi. Adopting these techniques is part of individual economic and/or migratory strategies. Ignoring these techniques leads to social discrimination and to the reinforcement of social boundaries between the groups. On the other hand, analyzing the link between cooking and feelings reveals an obsession among the Blacks to remain Christian. In other words, they must maintain reciprocal relations with the Saints, the Virgin Mary, and God. They must also avoid "temptation" and the risk of changing into "enemies". It is by controlling their emotions, especially while cooking, that the Blacks reach their objective. Thus, cooking will be analyzed under three aspects: the food system of the Blacks which brings out the importance of odors; the adoption or not of deodorizing marinades and the consequences for Black-Chachi relations; and the mastery of emotions while cooking every day and for certain Catholic feast days. Finally, this work reveals the social and cultural, selective and dynamic interpenetration of the Black and Indian populations.

La création de nouveaux matériaux, aux propriétés souhaitées, peut être obtenue par la combinaison de deux, trois ou plusieurs composants. L'évolution des matériaux, l'amélioration de leurs performances et l´extension de leurs fonctionnalités provoquent ainsi une augmentation de la variété des matériaux disponibles: c´est désormais l´usage qui détermine les propriétés du matériau et non l´inverse. L'ajout de nanoparticules dans un polymère peut entraîner, quantitativement via la nanostructuration du polymère et qualitativement via leurs surfaces réactives, de nouvelles caractéristiques, qui ne se limitent pas à la simple addition des propriétés de chaque composant. Les interactions entre la surface des nanoparticules et les molécules du polymère peuvent être notamment à la base de la formation d´interphases, présentant des propriétés différentes de celles du polymère massif. Afin de comprendre l´influence des nanoparticules dans les propriétés mécaniques, optiques et diélectriques du composite et plus particulièrement dans la création d´interphases, ce travail s´est intéressé à des systèmes composés de particules d´Al2O3 et de SiO2 dans une résine d´époxyde. De tels matériaux, a priori simples, affichent des résultats surprenants présentés dans cette thèse. / Creation of new materials with tailor-made properties can be achieved by the combination of two, three or more components. Their development, improvement in performance and the extension of their functionalities have enlarged the diversity of these materials: The desired purpose will define the properties of the used materials and not vice-versa. The inclusion of nanoparticles in a polymer can lead quantitatively via the occurring local structure and qualitatively via the reactive surfaces of the particles to new physical properties, which are not just a simple superposition of the properties of the single components. The interactions between the nanoparticles´ surfaces and the polymer molecules are the reason for the formation of interphases, which differ in their specificities from the polymer bulk. To understand the effect of nanoparticles on the mechanical, optical and dielectric properties of composites, and moreover the formations of interphases, an, at first believed, rather simple nanocomposite produced by including Al2O3- or SiO2- nanoparticles in an industrially common epoxy resin is studied. Such materials, a priori simples show surprising results, which will be discussed in this PhD Thesis.
