When we investigate a church, which became Centennial in our country, the Assembly of God, we sought to understand what, from its formation, consolidation and institutionalization, she manages to preserve its origins in the present day. From a case study in the Assembly of God in the neighborhood of São Miguel Paulista, we analyze the relationship of the Church with its history and check what are the traits that remain and those that changes. The Study of a local church, allowed us to understand, from the existing social relations in the periphery, that the changes seem to happen more slowly and, therefore, the amount of breaks and generally smaller than those occurring in urban centres and in higher economic classes. On the other hand, there are breaks, questions and even dissatisfaction from those who are capable, which make the churches suffer modifications and the searched church is no exception to this rule. Although there is a strong tradition in the Church of the periphery area, this also begins to look for their young and realize that to keep them, it needs to serve them. But it is in the form of care, however, that we find a dichotomy, where the perception of the need for change, is also present, the very effort to stay. Given this, we saw a church which, it seems to us, seek to integrate the young within it, but it still failed to do so with the society, and a youth that despite point to the importance of social integration, seems more concerned to leave the Church and society also separated / A presente pesquisa é resultado de indagações feitas a partir de como a Igreja olha para os/as seus/suas jovens, e como esse olhar ajuda-os (as) e envolverem-se e relacionarem-se na sociedade em que vivem. Ao pesquisarmos uma Igreja, que se tornou centenária em nosso país, a Assembléia de Deus, procuramos entender o que, a partir de sua formação, consolidação e institucionalização, ela consegue preservar de suas origens nos dias atuais. A partir de um estudo de caso, na Assembléia de Deus no bairro de São Miguel Paulista, pudemos analisar a relação da Igreja com sua história e, verificar ali quais são os traços que permanecem e aqueles se alteram. Estudar uma Igreja local, nos possibilitou entender a partir das relações sociais existentes na periferia, que ali as mudanças parecem acontecer mais lentamente e, portanto a quantidade de rupturas é, em geral, menor do aquelas ocorridos nos centros urbanos e em classes econômicas mais elevadas. Por outro lado, existem rupturas, questionamentos e até insatisfações, por parte dos adeptos, que fazem as Igrejas sofrerem modificações e, a Igreja pesquisada não foge a essa regra. Embora exista um forte marca de tradição na Igreja da periferia, essa, também começa a olhar para seus jovens e perceber que para mantê-los, precisa atendê-los. Mas é na forma de atendimento, porém, que encontramos uma dicotomia, onde na percepção da necessidade de mudança, está presente, o próprio esforço para permanecer. Diante disso, vimos uma Igreja que, parece-nos, procurar integrar o (a) jovem a si mesma, mas ainda não conseguiu fazê-lo com a sociedade e, uma juventude que apesar de apontar para a importância dessa integração social, parece estar mais preocupada em deixar Igreja e sociedade também separadas

No que tange aos objetivos da pesquisa, buscou-se compreender a trajetória religiosa destes jovens a partir de sua inserção no mundo universitário, sua experiência no movimento estudantil religioso e sua prática religiosa em instituição eclesial. A metodologia qualitativa de investigação social foi utilizada por meio da realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas e da observação participante. A análise dos dados coletados possibilitou uma compreensão sobre os elementos de continuidade, ruptura e transformação nas trajetórias religiosas encontradas. Evidenciam-se nesta análise as ressignificações da crença e da prática religiosa após o ingresso na universidade, bem como os movimentos oriundos de tais ressignificações - em destaque o trânsito religioso. Foram identificadas também perspectivas e possibilidades de diálogo e/ou dissenso entre os estudantes em relação à tradição evangélica, a ABUB e a universidade. / The aim of this thesis is to present the results of a research carried out with evangelical young university students, participants of Aliança Bíblica Universitária do Brasil (ABUB). Regarding to the objectives, the research aimed to understand the religious trajectory of these young students from their insertion at the university, their experience in a religious student movement and their religious practice in ecclesial institution. Qualitative methodology was used through semi-structured interviews and participant observation. The analysis based on the collected data brought a comprehension about the elements of continuity, rupture and transformation in the religious trajectory found. In this analysis prominence has been given to the beliefs and religious practice’s resignifications – religious transit is highlighted. There were identified also perspectives and possibilities of dialogue and dissention among the students regarding evangelical tradition, ABUB and university.
