Challenges faced by nurse educators in teaching research to undergraduate students

Bhembe, Thabsile Margaret 25 October 2015 (has links)
The aim of nursing practice is to provide evidence-based care that ensures quality outcomes for patients, families, healthcare providers and the health care system. This may only occur with increased exposure to nursing research. Nursing education institutions should therefore ensure that students are prepared to provide evidence-based care by participating in and conducting research. The purpose of the study is to explore and describe the challenges faced by nurse educators in teaching research methodology and supervising undergraduate nursing students at a university in order to make recommendations to support nurse educators in teaching research and supervising research projects. Qualitative, explorative, contextual and descriptive research was conducted to explore and describe the challenges experienced by nurse educators. Data were collected through a focus group discussion. Nine nurse educators participated in the research study. Participants acknowledged that they faced challenges in teaching research methodology and supervising research projects. The challenges described pertained to human resources; research experience, competencies and guidelines; physical resources; and a lack of support from their institution’s management. Based on the challenges, recommendations were made to address the lack of specific competencies, research guidelines, student/educator ratios, physical resources and technology issues / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)

Lehre im Format der Forschung / Teaching in the format Of research

Ludwig, Joachim January 2014 (has links)
Teaching in the format of research is founded in two ways. First it is an approriate way to achieve the aim of every academic study: professional competence. Professional competence needs research skills because the province of professionals is a form of applied research when they are using theories to interpret problematic cases of praxis (as a doctor, a lawyer, a pedagogue etc.). In a second way teaching in the format of research supports learning, because the structure of research and the structure of learning are quite similar. Therefore teaching in the format of research is reaching the logic of learning students. The third chapter describes three formats or types of teaching in the format of research.

Schulte, Jonas, Keil, Reinhard, Oberhoff, Andreas 20 October 2011 (has links)

Köhler, Thomas, Neumann, Jörg 27 October 2011 (has links)

Produção de vídeos por alunos no processo de ensino-aprendizagem no ensino de física / Video production by students in the teaching-learning process in physics teaching

Santos, Clayton Ferreira dos 09 December 2016 (has links)
In this research we propose a reflection on video productions by high school students through experimental activities, in which we seek to evaluate the significant learning process from the perspective of David Ausubel and, in this way, we emphasize educommunication practices and teaching by investigation as actions inherent to our proposal. This work was carried out with a group of students of a public school, in which the researcher and the teacher of this student group is the same person, thus, this research is inscribed in a teacher perspective that investigates about its own practice. We used the qualitative research methodology, collecting data from questionnaires employed at three different moments and semi-structured interviews at the end of the process, so that these data were collected at specific moments during the thirteen months. In the light of the meaningful learning proposed by David Ausubel, we seek to investigate the student\'s role in constructing his own knowledge from video productions by students of experimental activities and, therefore, we find in the light of Educommunication and Teaching by Research theoretical references that could help us to understand the relationships between digital media, in this research specifically audio and video capture devices such as camera phones, and experimentation enrolled in a research teaching proposal. From the analyzes of the questionnaires answered by the students and from the interviews, we realized, even during about a year after the video productions, that the knowledge built by the students during the production of videos of experimental activities were retained in the long term memory. Thus, we conclude that the digital media immersed in the students\' daily life, play a role that favors the process of meaningful learning.

Mentz, Luciano January 2017 (has links)
This work aimed to prepare a didactic sequence for high school teachers who teach wave physics, more precisely the teaching of electromagnetic waves from the research carried out by the students, making them active agents in the process of teaching and learning and giving them freedom in the choice of material to be searched. This didactic sequence was applied in five classes of a private school in the city of Porto Alegre, RS, totaling 150 students, and is aligned with the theory of Pedro Demo, which served as a theoretical reference. Ten meetings were held, divided into expository dialogues, to work on the initial concepts of wave physics, a class in the Physics Laboratory, and classes in the classroom to carry out research using the cell phone and carry out group discussions. Research on the history of science and the applications of electromagnetic waves also happened outside the classroom from the use of social networks. The students summarized their research and produced videos on the discovery of electromagnetic waves, explaining how technology has evolved and what its applications are in everyday life. The author considers that the teaching of physics in high school is not attractive to students for three reasons: lack of mathematical knowledge, lack of motivation and lack of understanding of the importance of content, since the student does not see applicability of the study with his or her day to day. Researching and creating videos helps you tackle two of these three issues. All videos are available on youtube and various artistic forms have been explored by the students - texts with drawings and narration, compilation of images and videos subtitled, students that become actors. Students enjoyed studying the history of science and being free to choose what to research.
