Cubas Gonzales, Tania Lizeth, Rondon Alcedo, Rousbel Ricardo, Tarquino Torres, Fernando Mauricio 30 September 2020 (has links)
In traffic engineering, the assessment of capacity in basic segment of freeway is a critical factor for planning, design and operational analysis of the freeway facilities. Thereby, the Highway Capacity Manual - HCM is the main guide used in many countries of the world including Perú that contain the methodology to estimate freeway capacity in traffic studies. Nevertheless, the information of vehicular traffic used for the construction of the models proposed by the HCM, reflect the characteristics of North American features. Therefore, its application in other traffic conditions, must be backed by studies of the local conditions and calibrations of the models proposed, hereby, adjusting to each city. The objetive of this research, is calibrate and compare of the HCM 2010 and HCM 2016 models, starting off the traffic engineering study in Panamericana Sur freeway located in Lima, Perú. The report will recommended the application of a calibrated model that best represents the local Peruvian conditions. The results of this study suggest that the model of calibrated capacity HCM2016, is the best representation, with a reliability of 97%, the local behavior of the basic freeway segments in function of the speed and the flow intensity. After applying the calibrated model into basic freeway segments concessioned by Rutas de Lima SAC, it was reflected that the use of the HCM2000, employed by this Company, show flow intensities within a level of service - LOS D, while, the calibrated HCM2016 shows us that those values are found, in reality, within a level of service - LOS E.

Road Network Analysis based on Route Set Generation

Nåfält, Gustav, Tunholm, Mattias January 2020 (has links)
This thesis proposes an analysing tool that makes use of route set generation to perform road network analysis that can be used in both transport planning and traffic management analysis. The input to the tool is a routable road network and a geographical zoning system and the route set generation is performed on all Origin-Destination (OD) -pairs of the zoning system. The tool was implemented using a simplification of Stockholms road network and a zoning system defined by the Swedish Transport Administration. The result shows that a route set generation-based tool can provide support in both transport planning and traffic management, and that the procedure provides results within a reasonable amount of time. The tool provides both a general analysis of the road network, and a link capacity reduction analysis. In the latter, the proportion of affected destinations and mean travel time deterioration for each OD-zone work as metrics of how the zones are affected by the capacity reduction. Transport planners can use the tool to present the betweenness centrality, the proportion of affected destinations and the mean travel time deterioration, all of which are metrics that can be used to evaluate the potential need for new infrastructure. Traffic managers can use the proportion of affected destinations and the mean travel time deterioration as metrics that can be used to identify zones that are affected by a road capacity reduction. The betweenness centrality of the best alternative route can be used to support traffic diversion for a specific zone.

Calibración y comparación de los Manuales de Capacidad de Carreteras HCM 2000, HCM 2010 y HCM 2016; y selección de un modelo de capacidad calibrado para la aplicación en tramos básicos de la autopista Panamericana Sur de Lima Metropolitana / Calibration and comparison of the HCM 2000, HCM 2010 and HCM 2016 Highway Capacity Manuals; and selection of a calibrated capacity model for the application in basic segments of the Panamericana Sur freeway in Metropolitan Lima

Cubas Gonzales , Tania Lizeth, Rondon Alcedo, Rousbel Ricardo 09 December 2020 (has links)
In the traffic engineering, relating to the planning, design, and operation of transport infrastructure, the majority of countries have as main reference the International Standard Highway Capacity Manual-HCM within their policies of operation of transport projects. However, this manual reflects United States traffic characteristics. Because of this, it is not directly applicable for the different traffic realities of the countries. So, your application must be supported by studies of local conditions and of calibrations of the proposed models of traffic, in such a way that fits each región. Due to this knowledge gap, was made a study of the operation of the Panamericana Sur freeway located in Lima City. From this study, made it possible to develop adjustment curves to obtain capacity models calibrated to the analysis of limeñas freeway operation. The results of the research, indicates that the model calibrated HCM2016, is the best that represents the local behavior of the basic segments freeway as a function of speed and intensity, with a reliability of 97.41%. In applying the model calibrated on basic freeway segments of the Panamericana Sur concessioned by Rutas de Lima SAC, reflected that the use of the HCM2000, employed by this company, show intensities within a service level D, while, the calibrated HCM2016 indicates that these values would be actually within a service level E. / Tesis

Propuesta de implementación de carril exclusivo de buses en la Avenida Alfredo Benavides desde la Avenida Velasco Astete hasta Morro Solar para el ordenamiento del espacio urbano / Proposal for the implementation of an exclusive bus lane on Alfredo Benavides Avenue from Velasco Astete Avenue to Morro Solar for urban space ordering

Rojas Canchaya, William Daniel, Rosas Jesús, Job Maik 15 March 2021 (has links)
The present research aims to provide greater highway capacity and urban space order of Alfredo Benavides Avenue in the section between Velasco Astete Avenue and Morro Solar Jiron (Benavides Bridge’s) in the District of Santiago de Surco - Lima. To do this, it proposes to eliminate the berms presented by the road in both directions which are used by private vehicles as a parking area. Therefore, it is proposed to add an exclusive bus lane which benefits vehicular fluidity by transforming the current scenario of 2 mixed-use lanes to a 3-lane scenario (1 segregated and 2 for private vehicle use). For the development of the research, the HCM Manual 2010 and the book "Elements of the Vehicle Traffic Theory" were used to calculate the capacity of the road and the capacity of the bus stops respectively; in turn, AIMSUN v7.0 software was used for simulation and calibration of the model. These were useful to determine the main comparisons of the 2-lane (current) and 3-lane (proposed) scenarios. In addition, the validity of the proposal was analyzed to determine the time in which the solution is effective. As a consequence, one of the main results obtained was an improvement in road capacity by 60% compared to the initial state. / Tesis

Análise das vias do eixo viário sudeste de Uberlândia (MG) e sua capacidade viária / Analysis of the southeast axis road in Uberlândia (MG) and its road capacity

Menezes, Vanilze Silva Pimenta 07 March 2017 (has links)
Road infrastructure plays an important role in urban transport system efficiency. The transportation plan is a challenge for public managers. In Uberlândia (MG), the city authorities are searching for alternatives in the urban mobility. The objective of this study is to analyze the urban road infrastructure network of an axis road in the southeast region of Uberlândia, considering the traffic flow, implemented roadworks and the vehicle circulation conditions, comparing the current and future road capacity. The discussion includes different road components and the consequences for the axis road routes. Vehicle volume counts were carried out at 8 different research points with the volume counts showed more intense traffic during 2 (two) periods - from 6:15 to 8:15am and from 17:30 to 19:30pm. The most intense traffic volume occurred in the intersection of Jaime de Barros Avenue and Pascoal Bruno Street, in direction of the Santa Luzia Terminal. The major research points received only palliative measures that caused a delay in the implementation of projects included in the main Transportation Plan and problems related to horizontal and vertical traffic signs. Some of the roadworks were not completed although they were included in different public administrations. One of the main obstacles was the difficulty related to properties compensation in the area. The analyzed axis road is a mixture of finished and unfinished roadworks. Of traffic accidents in 2014 with victims, 77.78% involved rescue of motorcyclists, with greater incidence in the São Jorge and Santa Luzia neighborhoods. The vehicular flow counted on the main roads are lower than established by Vasconcellos (2005), for the results that drivers use off-axis routes as other viable options for the displacements in the region, changing the urban dynamic in the analysed axis road. / Dissertação (Mestrado)
