Přístup sociálních pracovníků ke klientům romské menšiny / Stance of social workers to clients of the Roma minority

KORECKÁ, Tereza January 2012 (has links)
The thesis deals with social work with gypsy clients. The first chapter of the theoretical part 1.1 Social work aimed at the gypsy minority describes the specifics of social work with gypsy clients, which is based on preconditions that social workers should fulfill when working with this target group and their facilities for such work. It aims at the professional approach of the social workers to the clients who are members of the gipsy ethnicity and describes the value system of a social worker. The research proved that the workers approach the clients professionally based on an ethical code. Factors which influence the perception of the clients from the gipsy minority by the social workers became clear from the research. The approach is most commonly influenced by the more difficult communication with the clients and low motivation of the gipsy clients to change their burdensome situation through their own endeavors. The workers do not distinguish their clients according to their membership in a minority but according to the specific problem they wish to help them solve. The biggest problem of the gipsy ethnicity became education. The majority of the workers believe that if the education of the gipsy clients can be improved it will reduce the impact of other social problems.

Fiskální dopady z dodatečných investic do vzdělání Romů v České republice / Fiscal Gains from Extra Investment into Roma Education in the Czech Republic

Kubíková, Marie January 2015 (has links)
The thesis aims at quantifying the potential fiscal gains of an extra investment into Roma education. From the budgetary point of view, it would pay off to invest extra money into Roma children, if it increased future net contributions to the budget. The extra investment into one child could take values up to the average discounted value of future net benefits per person. The net benefits represent the increased net contributions due to a higher level of education. The contribution of the thesis is the estimation of different net contributions of Roma with various educational levels to the national budget in order to encourage the investment into Roma children. Secondly, we estimated the yearly loss of the national budget due to lower education among the Roma. And thirdly, we conducted a survey among the clients of the endowment fund Verda to find the relationship between their education, employment status and other variables.

Využití modelu J. N. Giger a R. E. Davidhizar v klinické a komunitní praxi u romské minority / Usage J. N. Giger and R. E. Davidhizar Model in Clinical and Community Practice in Roma Minority

TOUMOVÁ, Kristýna January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this paper was to find out the specifics of nursing care in clinical and community practice in Roma minority. Furthermore, to find out which of these specifics are missing in the J. N. Giger and R. E. Davidhizar nursing model and modify the nursing documentation based on this conceptual model accordingly. A combination of qualitative and quantitative research was used to achieve the set goals. The whole research was carried out within the framework of the team research project of GAJU No. 048/2015/S. Within the qualitative survey, 8 interviews with members of the Roma minority were carried out to verify the context of individual areas of the conceptual model. Furthermore, the focus group technique was used with nurses from clinical and community practice to verify the use of modified nursing documentation. The quantitative research used a non-standardised questionnaire based on the conceptual model areas for 600 respondents from the Roma minority. The research carried out has shown that health is one of the highest values in life for Roma people. Although health comes first, their way of life does not match this finding. This mainly concerns the area of substance abuse and disease prevention. Health care is influenced by their education. The more educated the individual is, the more they visit a doctor, they keep the treatment regimen and more generally they look after their health. The Roma minority is a relatively closed group of inhabitants, which to this day is difficult to assimilate into the majority society. Nevertheless, there is a gradual loss of some specific features. Above all, it is the loss of knowledge of the Roma language or the failure to observe some traditional Roma customs and traditions. This is mainly influenced by the social environment of the individual. All information obtained is clearly presented in the proposed documentation according to the Model of thoughtful and adapted care. Using this model provides us with a comprehensive assessment of the individual and the ability to better plan nursing care according to the needs of each individual.

BŘEČKOVÁ, Gabriela January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on identifying the image of excluded localities in media discourse. During the recent few years, the media have been forming the views of the majority population of the Roma minority, while the concept of social exclusion in the Czech Republic has been used most often in relation to the localities inhabited mostly by the members of the Roma minority. Excluded localities have become a very hot topic in the media and the media have been presenting excluded localities as problematic in terms of unemployment, poverty, maximum use of social welfare by their inhabitants, housing problems, crime, organized crime, disorder and problems with school attendance of the children.

Diskriminace Romů na trhu práce? / Roma discrimination on the labour market?

Suchá, Jitka January 2016 (has links)
This diploma deals with the problem of the participation of Roma in the work market. The scope of the investigation is focused on the Broumov region, where I look for possible causes, hurdles and reasons for Roma unemployment. The empirical part deals with gathering data from three different informants. The goal of this research is a complex overview of the actual situation from the view of employers, Roma themselves, and the state, represented by the Job Centre (Work Offive). To this end I used the involved observation method, and in-depth interviews. The target of the diploma was to find out what the main hurdles are in the scope of the participation of Broumov Roma in the work market, and what are the main obstacles to the participation of Roma in the work market. The result of the completed research is that among the main obstacles are insufficient education, low qualifications, frequent property re-possession and the unwillingness of employers to employ Roma. The source of this unwillingness is distrust of Roma due to bad experience with this minority.

Destined to failure? Persistent Segregation of Roma Children in Schools : Case study: Slovakia

Macková, Simona January 2024 (has links)
The segregation of Roma minors in Slovak education system is an enduring and widespread phenomenon, despite its formal legal prohibition. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyse Slovak education laws and policy developments relating to this issue, and closely examine how the problem is framed and represented in the selected legal measures. By extension, I aim to investigate deeply entrenched societal assumptions from which problem representations derive, their limitations, produced effects, as well as the role of racism and systemic discrimination in the course of its creation. To this end, Bacchi’s ‘What’s the problem Represented to be?’ methodological approach combined with Critical Race Theory was used. Key findings of this study showed, that deeply entrenched prejudicial and racist assumptions underpin the policy-making processes, creating stigmatized category of Roma pupils. Additionally, the issue of segregation is addressed and problematized only vaguely, hampering possible desegregation efforts. And lastly, the focus on Roma children’s placement into mainstream education fails to account for complex problems that Roma face in regular schools.

The theoretical part defines the term socially excluded locality and deals with distinctive features that influence the situation of people living here. The Roma minority, which is often associated with social exclusion, is also characterised, and unfortunately is still frequently represented in socially excluded localities. The main topic is a socially disadvantaged pupil, their needs and current educational opportunities are taken into account. Special attention is given to Roma children and pupils with regard to cultural and ethnic specifics. The practical part is processed in the form of 12 case studies describing individual families from socially excluded localities and their attitude to children's education. The main objective of the research was to identify barriers that influence the education of their children from the parents' point of view. Partial objectives focus on other circumstances that families may have to limit access to school in relation to their social situation.
