The e f f e c t s of v e h i c l e type on t h e c a p a c i t y of t r a f f i c s i g n a l approaches are examined by t h e experimental d e t e r m i n a t i o n of passenger c a r u n i t s a t i n t e r s e c t i o n s i n London and West Yorkshire and i n a d d i t i o n s a t u r a t i o n flows and lost t i m e s a r e examined. . Vehicle type e f f e c t s a t roundabout e n t r i e s a r e i n v e s t i g a t e d and t h e r e s u l t s of f i e l d o b s e r v a t i o n s r e p o r t e d . Details a r e given of t h e gap acceptance of varying v e h i c l e t y p e s , t h e e f f e c t of v e h i c l e type on delay and comparisons a r e made with e x i s t i n g recommendat i o n s f o r t h e c a p a c i t y design of roundabout e n t r i e s . Observations of t r a f f i c flow on a r u r a l motorway a r e used to demonstrate t h e e f f e c t of v e h i c l e type on speed and observed v a l u e s a r e f i t t e d t o a normal d i s t r i b u t i o n . Overtaking behaviour is a l s o examined and conclusions drawn of t h e r e l a t i v e e f f e c t on c a p a c i t y of v e h i c l e t y p e . The subject of this diploma thesis is variant design of adaptation of T- intersection to crossroad at Frýdek-Místek. At first, there was made traffic forecast of generated traffic from regional planning. After that, there were made traffic forecast from relocation of road II/477. Then for every traffic forecast there were made two more variants of designs. The first variant is designed by one lane roundabout and signal-controlled intersection with signal timing plan. The second and the third variant are designed by turbo roundabout and signal-controlled intersection with signal timing plan. All variants have their own capacity analysis.

Adaptation of existing level crossing of road I/23 and II/602 near Ostrovačice in the South Moravian region is solved in the diploma thesis. The level crossing is a transversal crossroads with four-lane major road, directionally divided. It is place of frequent traffic accidents. The outputs of road traffic survey made for the purpose of the thesis, the evaluation of rate of accidents and the capacity analysis of 5 versions of process layouts of the crossroads with detailed commentary are contents of the thesis. The thesis also includes the section of the drawings resulting from the previous sections. The first layout is a low cost, different road marking and traffic signing are the only changes. The second layout is conversion to the spiral roundabout.

Master's thesis will deal with the second phase of shifting I/9 Dubice - Dolni Libchava passing west of the Ceska Lipa with an approximate length of 3 km stretch. Estimated start-up of this section is in 2014. This project should build on in the future by-pass Ceska Lipa and Novy Bor, which is currently without funds for implementation by 2025. Traffic load after completion of the by-pass should be approximately 16500 vehicles / 24 hours in 2030. The section is designed in the category S 9.5 with optional solving two major intersections. This thesis will focus on reducing the cost of construction of the section.

It is based on engineering survey according to which three possible models are designed. Capacity assesment is made on each of these models. Throug the evaluation is selected the most suitable design of turbo roundabout type "knee", which is technically processed and substantiated by text and drawing documentation.

The subject of my Master’s thesis is the variant redevelopment of intersections I/56 and II/469 in Hlučín. Both interesections are situated nearby bus terminal. Extent of adjustment obstructs the object of former granary. There are checked spatial options for adjusting both existing intersections to the roundabouts. In the frame of variants, there is a different manner of solution of structural layout of both intersections, possibility of connection of bus terminal and transfer of pedestrian traffic across designed intersections. Part of Master’s thesis is traffic survey and capacity analysis of designed intersections.

The main objective of the thesis is to design a roundabout in the depth of anurbanistic study. The concerned crossroad is found in a village of Prestanov where the roads I/13 and II/253 intersecting. The goal of a supposed reconstruction is to change the traffic scheme of the current crossroad to design a roundabout. The change would provide the traffic flow going from the minor road II/253 with free-flowing traffic and better safety issues. Three new versions of the crossroad were designed. The spiral type roundabout is pursued further to the final design. The drawings and the technical report are also included. On top of that, the thesis contains an engineering geology survey and a road capacity assessment.

Final thesis deals with relocation of road I/34, specifically bypass Pelhřimov west. The crossing with roads I/19 and I/112 is solved by interchange roundabout in nothern part of bypass. Reason of construction is unification road I/34, which is a part of the international route E551, to category S11,5/70. The principal tasks was to keep it in the land use plan and the effort to maximize the alignment of volumes of earthworks.
