Šio baigiamojo darbo tema „Internetinis totalizatorius“, tikslas ir sritis yra nusakoma sukonkretinus teorinės dalies medžiagą pagal temos pavadinimą. Teorinės dalies išvadomis remiantis yra sukurta internetiniais tinklais prieinamą taikomąją programą, kurios pagalba registruoti ir prisijungę sistemos vartotojai galėtų dalyvauti įvykių spėjimo totalizatoriuje, pagal gausų ir neribotą sričių ir jų parinkčių ruožą. Taip pat baigiamojo darbo praktinė sistema automatiniu būdu apdoroja vartotojo įvestus spėjimų duomenis ir juos išanalizavus atvaizduoja rezultatų forma, taip sukuriant azartinių įvykių baigties spėliojimo žaidimą, už kurio teisingus spėjimus vartotojas yra apdovanojamas privileginiais taškais. Sistema kiek tai leidžia galimybės yra dinaminė ir savaime besiplečianti. Taip pat į administravimo posistemes bei taikomosios programos tobulėjimą laikui bėgant galima įtraukianti ir sistemoje registruotus vartotojus. / This concluding work‘s in title „Internet totalizator”, objectives and area are named at concretize theoretical part of this work description by the main work title itself. By theoretical conclusions internet accessible network application was developed, by which help internet users who would be registered and logged in could participate in events presumption totalizators, by vast areas and options of guessing range. Also concluding work’s practical system’s portion application is processing user’s events presumptions entries automatically and then after analyzing process display those results in processed form, this way creating events presumption based gambling game, in which participants for their right guesses receiving prerogative points. System is as much as possible dynamical and self extendible, thru out administrative functions and scopes. Also registered users should be dragged into administrative subsystem then it would expend and be more and more complicated.

A evaluation of Ruby on Rails regarding performance.

The thesis compares web frameworks Ruby on Rails and Grails. The main goal of the thesis is to compare which of these frameworks is more convenient for development of web applications using wide range of criteria. The first part of the thesis defines fundamental terms to understand the web frameworks topic. Subsequently the thesis analyzes the history, language and fundamental characteristics of both frameworks. The next section describes all the details of the reference applications in Ruby on Rails and Grails, that are part of this diploma thesis. The most important part of this thesis is the comparison of both frameworks using a number of criteria. The thesis should provide sufficient amount of information to understand the web frameworks, to obtain the fundamentals for working with the web frameworks Ruby and Rails and Grails and it should bring enough information for optimum choice between these frameworks for development of web application and for future studies. The thesis could be of benefit to both students, that decide what to study in the future, and managers or project leaders, that decide which web framework to use.

<p>Communication handicap has been observed between student and supervisor during research work owing to various reasons; unavailability of any party on desired time, distance etc. Web base platform could be a solution to these communication problems in that, students can get guidance and feedback from their supervisors in easy, time-effective, cost-effective way. Students could upload his/ her problems, questions on the forum and supervisors would read from that platform and give suggestions, advices and recommendations to students. In this way, supervisors can check students’ progress at any given time slice and students would also get timely feedback. My project is based on Ruby on Rails (RoR), it is a web-base platform, students and supervisor can communicate by this platform without face to face meeting.</p>

Ingeniero Civil en Computación / En este documento se detalla el trabajo realizado para la elaboración de una red social para el fomento de la lectura, como parte del proyecto de La Biblioteca Libre. Acá se explica la solución implementada y las tecnologías utilizadas para el desarrollo de la misma. La Biblioteca Libre nace como una iniciativa para promover la lectura. Mediante el intercambio de libros, se ha logrado liberar 60 mil libros que permanecían sin uso. Esto ha generado una comunidad en torno al proyecto que no ha sido aprovechada en todo su potencial. Para esto, se planteó la creación de una red social que permita buscar libros, para luego valorarlos, criticarlos y comentarlos. Así, cada usuario puede revisar y descubrir nuevos libros a partir de lo descrito por otros usuarios, además de recibir recomendaciones de textos por parte del sistema. En la actualidad, sólo existían sitios de habla inglesa con estas características. Para validar la solución se encuestó a participantes recurrentes de La Biblioteca Libre, además de contar con casos de pruebas para las funcionalidades principales. Esta solución fue desarrollada usando Ruby on Rails, ya que se buscó un lenguaje expresivo y un framework que entregara herramientas para un trabajo rápido y expedito. La aplicación se encuentra en los servidores de Heroku y necesitará conectarse a Amazon, tanto para buscar información sobre los libros como para guardar imágenes. También es necesario realizar conexiones a Facebook para que los usuarios puedan usar sus cuentas en el sitio.

Η παρακάτω διπλωματική αφού κάνει μια εκτενή αναφορά στα είδη των γλωσσών προγραμματισμού επεκτείνεται και στην περιγραφή των frameworks που χρησιμοποιούνται σήμερα ευρέως. Έπειτα ασχολούμαστε εκτενώς με το framework ruby on rails και περιγράφουμε αναλυτικά τις δυνατότητες που μας προσφέρει μέσα από την ανάπτυξη κάποιων εφαρμογών. Ακριβέστερα, έχουν υλοποιηθεί και αξιολογηθεί ένα site με forum και shopping cart, ένα blog, μια wiki page και ένα site για δημιουργία προφίλ από τους χρήστες του. / The following work has made an extensive reference to the kinds of programming languages and then extends a description of the frameworks currently used widely. Then devotes considerable attention to the framework ruby on rails and describes in detail the possibilities offered by means of developing some applications. Being more specific, we implemented and evaluated a site with forum and shopping cart, a blog, a wiki page, and a site for creation profile of its users.

This thesis aids at comparing two frameworks based on Python and Ruby used for agile web development. Besides the basic description, history and philosophy of both Django and Ruby on Rails, all criteria used for their evaluation are laid down, described and put into wider context. In addition, the implementation of the MVC architecture in both frameworks is described along with the basic project structure and tools available.
