Designing Feelings into Products : Integrating Kansei Engineering Methodology in Product Development

Schütte, Simon January 2002 (has links)
Tendencies in product development of today make it likely that many future products will be functional equivalent and therefore hard to distinguish between for the customer. Customers will decide by highly subjective criteria which product to purchase. One task for product development in this context is to be able to capture the customer’s considerations and feelings of products and translate these emotional aspects into concrete product design. Today a number of different methods, such as Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Semantical Environment Description (SMB), Conjoint Analysis and Kansei Engineering exist and are used in practical applications. The purpose of this thesis is to understand and apply Kansei Engineering methodology and explore ways to integrate the methodology into an industrial product development process. This was done by conducting a study on forklift trucks in different European countries and business areas and by exploring ways of integrating Kansei Engineering in product development processes. The number of Kansei words collected was reduced based on the result of a pilot study using a combination of different tools. A computerized data collection method was used in combination with a modified VAS-scale in order to reduce the time for filling out the evaluation forms The results of the study in the visited Northern and Middle European companies make it evident that Kansei Engineering has to be adapted in several aspects to the circumstances in each situation. The data showed that there are differences in attitude towards reach trucks in the different European countries. These results were used in order to adapt the product requirements for each specific country. Starting at Cooper’s stage gate model Kansei Engineering was applied on a macro level, a micro level and for verifying purpose. Using QFD, Kansei Engineering helps to identify customer needs their importance and the technical responses as well as to conduct benchmarking and to connect the customer needs mathematically to the technical responses. This study of Kansei Engineering revealed that there was no general model on the methodology available in English literature. Outgoing from a previous flowchart, a conceptual framework of Kansei Engineering was developed integrating the existing Kansei Engineering Types and future tools. / <p>ISRN/Report code: LiU-Tek-Lic 2002:19</p>

Impacts de l'orientation entrepreneuriale sur la performance-export des PME Togolaises à vocation internationale. / Impact of the entrepreneurial orientation on the export performance of Togolese SMEs with an international vocation.

Kombate, Kangnaguidjoa 15 June 2018 (has links)
The objective of this research is to assess the impact of the CEO's profile on the EO level and its influence on the export performance of the SMBs in the togolese context. The results of a quantitative analysis by logistic regression led to 65 exporting SMBs to this purpose, show that the strategic vision, the key competences, the CEO's traits of personality and the SMBs characteristics, are positively related to to the international entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) and to the export performance. These results have the merit of confirming the conceptual model adapted from M/F and the one of C/S within the Togolese framework.

För gull och för edela kransar : en identifiering av 22 nyfunna ballader

Sverkersson, Micael, Bäckvall, Louise January 2006 (has links)
In February 2005, a collection predominantly containing medieval ballads was found in the library of Växjö. The collectors were mainly George Stephens, originally from Scotland, and Gunnar Olof Hyltén-Cavallius, both active in Småland in the nineteenth century. In connection with an intital inventory of the material, Magnus Gustafsson, ethnomusicologist at Smålands Musikarkiv, marked ballads of uncertain origin with a question mark. The purpose of this essay is to investigate 22 of these marked ballads. To be able to compare them with other material we have developed a method to identify differences. By means of the method both the text and the melody are compared and in addition the differences in terms of quality and quantity are assessed. We have compared the collection, named Växjö Stadsbiblioteks Stephenssamling (VSS), with the Swedish edition of medieval ballads, Sveriges Medeltida Ballader (SMB). In the comparison, a ballad forgotten since the mid nineteenth century was retrieved .

Monitoring of a Modelled Real-Time System : with Data Diode Enabled Unidirectional Network / Övervakning av ett modellerat realtidssystem : Enkelriktat nätverk möjliggjort av dioder

Sterneling, Hanna January 2020 (has links)
Monitoring and logging is fundamental in systems. Today, these techniques are widely used to detect functionality issues as well as malicious event. This thesis compares and evaluates two techniques commonly used for this purpose: the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the Syslog protocol. The protocols are evaluated with regard to their vulnerability to traffic pattern analysis, impact on network load and performance of the system, and the attack surface of the technique. Each protocol’s applicability is investigated on a modelled system, containing a data diode, using experiments and analysis of their individual features. We observe only small differences in traffic load and performance of the two techniques. The findings suggest that each of the two techniques can successfully be applied on the modelled system, and the decision on which technique should be used at each instance can therefore be left to the customer of each specific system implementation instance.

The identification and investigation of neurochondrin as a novel interactor of the survival of motor neuron protein, through analysis of the interactomes of Sm family proteins and cell fractionation

Thompson, Luke January 2018 (has links)
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a neurodegenerative, inherited disease caused by an insufficient amount of functional Survival of Motor Neurone protein (SMN), though the exact mechanism underlying this is not fully understood. The primary function of SMN is assembling a ring of Sm proteins around small nuclear RNA (snRNA) in an early, cytoplasmic stage of small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) biogenesis, a process essential in eukaryotes. SMN, together with several mRNA binding proteins, has been linked to neural transport of mRNA towards areas of growth in Motor neurons for local translation of transcripts. Previous research in our group has found that this may involve Coatomer protein-containing vesicles transported by Dynein and requiring the Sm family protein, SmB, for maintenance. Little is known, however, about what other proteins are also present and required for correct transport and localisation of these vesicles. To further investigate this, we have produced plasmids expressing each Sm protein tagged to fluorescent proteins to help track their behaviour, in some cases for the first time, and developed a detergent-free fractionation protocol to enrich for SMN containing vesicles, providing tools that can be used to further probe behaviour and interactions in the future. Using these approaches, SmN, a neural specific Sm protein, was identified to also be present in SMN-containing vesicles similarly to SmB. Analysis of the interactomes of different Sm proteins identified a novel interactor of SMN, Neurochondrin (NCDN), that appears to be required for the correct localisation of SMN in neural cells. NCDN was found to not associate with snRNPs, indicating an snRNP-independent interaction with SMN. NCDN and SMN both independently associated and co-enriched with Rab5, indicating a potential endocytic and cell polarity role for the interaction. This interaction has the potential to be key in SMA pathology and may have therapeutic potential.
