Arbetsmiljöarbete och lönsamhet : en litteraturstudie

Johansson, Cecilia, Nordlöf, Hasse January 2008 (has links)
Ergopriset

The Effects Of Exchange Rates, Oil Prices, Global Risk Perceptions And Global Warming On Food Prices

Dagdelen, Derya 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis examines the relationship between food prices, oil prices, carbon emission prices, exchange rates and global risk perception. To obtain the effects of these variables on the food prices, Toda and Yamamoto procedure is employed for 5-day week daily time series covering the period February 27, 2008 and March 21, 2011. The empirical results indicate that only volatility index Granger causes food prices. Furthermore, according to results of generalized impulse response plots food prices respond to all variables in the short run.

Interdisciplinarity and self-reflection in civic education

Christensen, Torben January 2013 (has links)
Focus of interest in this article are the concepts of globalization and civic citizenship and the questions are; what is required to be a global citizen, and how to work with this in civic education. The concept of civic citizenship implies democracy. A citizen is an independent and (to some extent) educated decision maker and actor, not a mere subject loyal to the sovereign. So whenever speaking of a global citizen democracy is implied. But the world is not a democratic place as such. Most of it in fact is quite undemocratic. The question therefore is how it is possible to act as a citizen (as a democrat) in global space. The article argues that this will only be possibly if citizens are capable of dealing with complex societal problems and to understand their own role as citizens (democrats) in relation to these problems. The argument is firstly that problems and issues in global space are complex and can only be understood interdisciplinary. Therefore the ability to reflect problems interdisciplinary is crucial to the global citizen. The second argument is that the ability of self-reflection is necessary for citizens in their efforts to understand, maintain and develop their own (democratic) identity and (democratic) values and practices in relation to the complexity and unfamiliarity of the various non-democratic identities, values and practices in a global space. Therefore it is suggested that students in civic education need to develop competencies of reflection on interdisciplinarity and self-reflection-as-citizen as key tools for analyzing societal problems and to act democratically on them. And it is suggested that dealing with interdisciplinarity requires use of second order concepts and that self-reflection as citizens requires third order concepts

Modelling Electricity Demand In Turkey For 1998-2011

Sayin, Ipek 01 January 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis estimates the quarterly electricity demand of Turkey. First of all proper seasonal time series model are found for the variables: electricity demand, temperature, gross domestic product and electricity price. After the right seasonal time series model are found Hylleberg, Engle, Granger and Yoo (1990) test is applied to each variable. The results of the test show that seasonal unit roots exist for the electricity price even it cannot be seen at the graph. The other variables have no seasonal unit roots when the proper seasonal time series model is chosen. Later, the cointegration is tested by looking at the vector autoregressive model. As the cointegration is seen vector error correction model is found. There is long-run equilibrium when the price is the dependent variable and independent variable is gross domestic product. Temperature is taken as exogenous variable and demand is not statistically significant.

Statistical Modelling Of Financial Statements Of Turkey: A Panel Data Analysis

Akinc, Deniz 01 August 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Financial failure is an important subject for both the economical development of the country and for the self - evaluation of individual companies. Increase in the number of financially failed companies points out the misuse of the country resources. Recently, financial failure threatens both small and large companies in Turkey. It is important to determine factors that affect the financial failure by analyzing models and to use these models for auditing the financial situation. In today&rsquo / s Turkey, the statistical methods that are used for this purpose involve single level models applied to cross-sectional data. However, multilevel models applied to panel data are more preferable as they gather more information, and also, enable the calculated financial success probabilities to be more trustworthy. In this thesis, publicly available panel data that are collected from The Istanbul Stock Exchange are investigated. Mainly, financial success of companies from two sectors, namely industry and services, are investigated. For the analysis of this panel data, data exploration methods, missing data imputation, possible solutions to multicollinearity problem, single level logistic regression models and multilevel models are used. By these models, financial success probabilities for each company are calculated / the factors related to the financial failure are determined, and changes in time are observed. Models and early warning systems resulted in correct classification rates of up to 100%. In the services sector, a small number of companies having publicly available data result in a decline in the success of models. It is concluded that sharing data with more subjects observed in a longer time period collected in the same format with academicians, will result in better justified outputs, which are useful for both academicians and managers.

Assessment Of Criteria-rich Rankings For Decision Makers

Ozdoglar, Mehmet Rasit 01 January 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Environmental policymaking is a difficult issue for governments. It is desirable to have the decisions based on the results of quantitative and analytical studies. On the other hand, by their very nature, many such decisions have political aspects, whose subtleties are difficult to be captured by quantitative approaches alone. It is left to the political establishments to decide how best to allocate the efforts to improve environmental conditions. In this respect, evaluating the countries by generating environmental indices and the subsequent ranking of the countries with respect to those indices is a common practice. Perhaps the best known environmental sustainability index, the Environmental Performance Index-2008 (EPI-2008), is a composite index that comprises 6 core policy categories and 25 indicators. While recognizing the qualitative aspects of such decision making, in order to support and guide the policymaking process, we develop analytical tools to assist the process. We carefully delineate our models to be limited only to the provable quantitative properties of the available objective data. However, such data are processed into more meaningful statements concerning the available options. Specifically, using EPI-2008, meaningful mathematical models that shed further light onto the country sustainability measures are developed.

A Study of the Establishment of Police Work Indicator in Kaohsiung

liu, yi-hsing 25 July 2008 (has links)
A Study on the Establishment of Police Work Indicator in Kaohsiung Abstract Social security is the public issue that enjoys the greatest concerns from the civil public. This study attempts to establish a set of indicators based on current situation of police patrol work and commitment in Kaohsiung, in the method of social science indicator establishment to objectively and adequately evaluate Kaohsiung police work efficiency. This essay surveys the issues concerning police work indicators referring to bibliographies of the idea of police, the procedure of patrol duty development, patrol¡¦s effectiveness on crime deterrence, type of crime and criminal indicator in Kaohsiung City. In the first part herein, the frequency of stopping, listening, and seeing while performing patrol duty by police officers serve in the eight police stations governed by Kaohsiung County Police Bureau Fengshan Police Precinct was investigated and ¡§Patrol Duty Indicator¡¨ was established accordingly. And in the second part, citizens attained the age of twenty having household registration set in Kaohsiung City were interviewed through telephone about the seriousness of different crimes on social security to have ¡§Criminal Indicator¡¨ produced. At last, the said two indicators were combined to form the Police Work Indicator. As for statistic analysis, SPSS for windows (8.0) was adopted to perform data organization and statistics. Additionally, Descriptives, Crosstabs, and £q2,Chi-square 2,Chi-square test ,test of independence were implemented to describe the condition and then make statistics of all indicators. From Patrol Duty Indicator, it¡¦s found that the efficiency of patrol duty is determined by the ¡§Unit Personnel Number¡¨ and ¡§Age of Policemen.¡¨ While assigning patrol duties, the police work agency shall take the two principal factors into consideration more carefully to have patrol duties fulfilled. In the respect of criminal indicator, it is concluded from individual comparison that the general public considers it¡¦s good regarding overall criminal indicator, and it is improved slightly concerning criminal indicator of violence. However, it¡¦s slightly worsened in relation to the criminal indicator of theft and drug addicts. The police work agency may observe changes in indicators and modify the measurements moderately. Key Words: Social Science Indicator, Descriptives, Criminal Indicator, Hot Spot Planning, Type of Crime, Patrol Duty Indicator, Variance Analysis, Correlation Analysis

The influence of Parthenius on the new poets.

Somaroo, Harichand. January 1996 (has links)
This thesis examines the influence of Parthenius' doctrine of erotika pathemata on the Neoteric epyllion. His influence on Cinna has been readily acknowledged, but except for a few incidental and tentative references, little has been made of his role in determining important features of Neoteric poetry; in fact, many Leading scholars in the field fail even to mention him. A survey of the evolution of the epyllion in the Hellenistic world shows a radical transformation of the Callimachean type by Euphorion and Parthenius", in the late Alexandrian era. It is clearly the late Alexandrian epyllion that became popular with the Neoterics, as the relevant works of Catullus and, what can be conjectured about the nature of the lost Neatenc epyllia suggest. There is a marked bias towards tragic love-stories, sensational and bizarre, often metamorphic and with ample scope for emotional analysis and a subjective treatment. These features closely parallel the tenor of Parthenius', summary of 36 love-stories in the Erotika Pathemata, his only wholly extant work. While the collection was dedicated to Comelius Gallus well after most of the Neoteric epyllia were written, it is safe to assume that Parthenius preached his doctrine from the time of his arrival at Rome, as his widely acknowledged influence on Cinna's Zmyrna, perhaps the first Latin epyllion, seems to suggest. This thesis cannot pretend to defend Ross' extravagant claim that "without Parthenius' timely arrival there could have been no New Poetry"; but it can attempt to illuminate Parthenius' central role in establishing the nature of the Neoteric epyllion. This study has been undertaken, then, in the belief that Parthenius' influence on the Neoterics and on the creation of a new genre at Rome warrants closer scrutiny than has so far been attempted. Thus, it seeks to provide an alternate basis for the analysis of poems like 63 and 64, and heralds a possible shift from the emphasis on the autobiographical approach, which, though undoubtedly valid, has been belaboured in recent years to the point of excess. Abbreviated title: Erocika Pathemata and the Neoteric Epyllion. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Durban-Westville, 1996.

Estimation In The Simple Linear Regression Model With One-fold Nested Error

Ulgen, Burcin Emre 01 June 2005 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, estimation in simple linear regression model with one-fold nested error is studied. To estimate the fixed effect parameters, generalized least squares and maximum likelihood estimation procedures are reviewed. Moreover, Minimum Norm Quadratic Estimator (MINQE), Almost Unbiased Estimator (AUE) and Restricted Maximum Likelihood Estimator (REML) of variance of primary units are derived. Also, confidence intervals for the fixed effect parameters and the variance components are studied. Finally, the aforesaid estimation techniques and confidence intervals are applied to a real-life data and the results are presented

Testing For Unconditional Convergence Of Turkish Regions And Provinces Using A Time Series Approach

Ozkan, Pelin 01 September 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This study investigates unconditional convergence of Turkish regions and provinces. A recently introduced time series procedure developed by Nahar and Inder (2002) is used to test the convergence hypothesis for the period 1975-2001. Both the Ordinary Least Square and the Seemingly Unrelated Regression techniques are applied to analyze convergence of sixty five provinces, seven geographical regions as well as 12 NUTS - 1 regions of Turkey. The empirical findings indicate that most of the cases yield no evidence of convergence, which is a general result stated by the other studies in the literature regarding Turkey.
