The next part of the thesis is focused on FEM acoustic simulation and comparing results with measurements.

The master’s thesis deals with ways of controlling starting clutches of cars, especially of DQ200 gearbox, which contains dry disc clutches. The introduction describes basic principles of torque transfer and amount of clutch force. Then the description of construction of starting clutches and ways of controlling clutch types mentioned beforehand is given. In the next part of the thesis, wide spectrum of control methods is measured, from which a certain part is selected. This is followed by driving tests and based on driving data, one method of the clutch control is chosen. Then those control methods from narrow selection are tested for acoustic impact in the cabin of the car. In the end the best way of clutch control is selected. The selection based on driving data and acoustic measurement.

Methods for Identifying Acoustic Emissions From the Front Face of a Small Piezoelectric Blower

This thesis focuses on identifying acoustic noise generating components in piezoelectric blowers through transverse velocity measurements and the development of a numerical fluid model. Piezoelectric ceramics have proven useful for many industries and areas of research involving: high precision actuators, noise control, ultrasonic devices, and many other areas. As of late, a unique adaptation of piezoelectric ceramics is surfacing in the area of pumping and cooling. Air pumps that use these ceramics replace the traditional electric motor, resulting in lower power consumption, less moving parts, constant pressure gradients, lower overall weight, and a low profile. The current drawback of this application is the acoustic radiation produced by the blowers. Since these blowers are new to market, little research or development has been done to characterize the noise emissions. This thesis studies the acoustic emissions from the front face of a Murata piezoelectric blower. Jet noise and structural vibrations are two acoustic sources of interest that are studied in this research. A Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of the fluid flow through a Murata blower is developed to better identify noise generating mechanisms. The model solutions predict trends in sound pressure levels (SPL) of the jet noise and volumetric flow rates. Both the SPL and flow rate are shown to be functions of critical geometrical dimensions within the flow path of a Murata blower. Important dimensional components are identified as well as non-influential ones. Design guidelines are given to reduce noise emission from the front side of a blower and increase the volumetric flow rate. The results of this research have a direct impact on the piezoelectric blower industry and future blower designs.

The ability of the plug-in to determine the octave spectrum of ventilation noise at the calculated points, the sound pressure level on the path of noise propagation through the ventilation system, to calculate the decrease in the sound pressure level at different sites.

Gurtförderanlagen werden im Bergbau und anderen Industriezweigen zum Transport von Schüttgütern eingesetzt. Der Anlagenbetrieb ist mit Geräuschemissionen verbunden. Dies kann bei Kontrolle und Wartung eine erhöhte Lärmbelastung für betroffene Mitarbeiter hervorrufen. Im Umfeld von Wohnbebauungen oder schutzbedürftigen Objekten kann die Überschreitung von Immissionsrichtwerten zu einer zeitlichen Betriebseinschränkung der hocheffizienten Anlagen führen. Zur Lärmminderung an der Quelle oder deren Nähe erfordert dies technische Schallschutzmaßnahmen. Die Tragrollen im Obertrum der Gurtförderanlagen sind bei der akustischen Wirkung von entscheidender Bedeutung. Mit einem Prüfstand für Tragrollen ist deren Schallleistung bei unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten bestimmbar. Die Ergebnisse lassen Rückschlüsse auf die mechanische Belastung und die Schallemission beim Betrieb in einer Förderanlage zu. Die Arbeit benennt die Ursachen der Geräuschemissionen beim Ablauf der Rollen und stellt diese in Verbindung mit den Eigenschaften der Oberfläche und der Außermittigkeit der Drehachse dar. Die Prüfung beider Parameter basiert auf einer Rundlaufmessung. Die gewonnenen winkelabhängigen Daten erlauben eine Berechnung der Exzentrizität der Drehachse und des Verlaufs der Kreisformabweichung auf dem Rollenmantel. Daraus abgeleitete Kennwerte dienen als Vorgaben zur Anpassung und Entwicklung von Herstellungsverfahren sowie zur gezielten Auswahl geräuscharmer Tragrollen für Gurtförderanlagen. / Belt conveyor systems are used in mining operations and other industry sectors to transport bulk material. The plant operation is being linked to noise emissions. During inspections and maintenance this can cause an increased noise exposure for affected employees. In the environment of residential buildings or areas in need of protection the exceedance of immission guideline values can lead to a temporary operational limitation of these highly efficient plants. Noise abatement measures primarily at the source or in the vicinity are required to reduce noise immission. The idlers on the carrying belt side of the belt conveyor systems are of crucial importance to the acoustical properties. Their sound power level is determinable at different belt speeds with a test stand for idlers. The results allow conclusions about the mechanical stress and sound emissions during operation in a belt conveyor system. The thesis identifies the sources of noise during the roll process and places them in conjunction with the properties of the surface and the centre offset of the axis. The examination of these two parameters is based on a total indicator reading (TIR) measurement. The angle-dependent data obtained allow a calculation of the eccentricity of the axis and the curve of the circular deviation of the roller tubes. Therefrom derived characteristic values serve as specifications for the adaptation and development of manufacturing processes as well as for a careful selection of low noise idlers for belt conveyors.

La zona en estudio, ubicada entre los kilómetros 31 y 35 de la carretera Panamericana Norte, posee un nivel de presión sonora promedio de 76.48dB y 74.76dB en el horario diurno y nocturno respectivamente, y tomando como base Los Estándares de Calidad de Ruido Ambiental (ECA) se puede determinar que la zona en estudio se produce contaminación acústica. Por ello, las personas que frecuentan y/o circulan por esta zona se encuentran propensas a contraer distintas enfermedades y molestias producto de la contaminación sonora, entre ellas: Estrés, pérdida de audición con el paso del tiempo, problemas cardiológicos, entre otros. Ante lo mencionado, la presente tesis busca controlar el ruido generado por el parque automotor mediante la instalación de Barreras Acústicas en la sección vial de la Panamericana Norte, utilizando como materiales principales dos tipos de concreto, el concreto convencional y el concreto con agregados ligeros de aserrín y viruta. Para ello, el concreto con agregados ligeros de aserrín y viruta, material absorbente del sistema de Barrera Acústica, se lleva al laboratorio acústico para ensayar mediante el método del Tubo de impedancia, para obtener el coeficiente de nivel de presión sonora. Siendo este valor promedio de absorción sonora máxima de las muestras (α) 0.23. En conclusión, el sistema de barrera acústica diseñado alcanza a absorber hasta 23% del nivel de presión sonora percibido, y con ello la zona en estudio se encuentra dentro de los Estándares de Calidad de Ruido Ambiental. / The area under study, located between kilometer 31 and kilometer 35 of the Northern Pan-American Highway, has an average sound pressure of 76.48dB during daytime and 74.76dB during nighttime. Taking the Environmental Noise Quality Standards (ECA, in Spanish) into consideration, it can be determined that the noise pollution occurs in the area under study. Therefore, the people who frequent or pass by this area are prone to contract various diseases or malaise as a result, such as stress, gradual hearing loss, heart issues, among others. Given the situation, this thesis aims at controlling the noise produced by motorized vehicles by installing sound barriers on said road section of the Northern Pan-American Highway, using two types of concrete as main materials: conventional concrete and concrete with light sawdust and woodchip aggregates. The concrete with light sawdust and swarf aggregates, absorbent material of the sound barrier system, is taken to the sound laboratory to perform tests through the impedance tube method to obtain the sound pressure level. This is the average value of the maximum absorption level of the samples (α) 0.23. In conclusion, the designed sound barrier system manages to absorb up to 23% of the perceived sound pressure level. With that, the area under study falls within the Environmental Noise Quality Standards. / Tesis

The task of the master's thesis is introduction with the problems of traffic noise, focusing on noise from road traffic. There is a description what is the noise, how it is formed, its resources and what are the methods of measuring. The following are the various noise reduction measures such as noise barriers and low noise pavements. The main attention is devoted to the noise generated at the tire / road that is reduced by these pavements. The practical part describes the implemented measurements on individual sections at various locations in our country. The measurement was carried by slightly modified method CPX with reference tire directly at the vehicle. The main aim was to evaluate the measurement data, make comparison of different low-noise surfaces with each other and with the commonly used surfaces. Then quantification of the rate reduction of the noise emission for a given section and verification of input data for noise modeling. In conclusion, the obtained results are summarized and based on them were confirmed very good acoustic properties with the recommendation to continue with measurements in the future.
