Wissensdurst und Forscherdrang haben am 19.06.2009 dafür gesorgt, dass mehr als 20.000 kleine und große Neugierige die Dresdner Hochschulen und Forschungsstätten, Labore und Hörsäle besuchten.

This thesis is the result of a decision to extend the approach used by me when examining Irish burial practices, to a review of the archaeological and documentary record for burial practices and associated phenomena in the transitional period from late/post-Roman Britain to Anglo-Saxon England. The study considers burial rites; the method of disposal of physical remains, the position and orientation of bodies, and burial structures and enclosures: grave-goods are only referred to when they are pertinent to a particular line of argument. My intention is to draw together the various aspects of burial of the Iron Age, Romano-British and Anglo-Saxon periods in order to look at the overall picture. Occasionally this may mean stating the obvious, but by noting and plotting distributions of various burial traits first in the Iron Age and Romano-British periods, and then comparing these traits with the Anglo-Saxon period some revealing results can be obtained. It was important to begin with the Iron Age since some minority practices current in the early Anglo-Saxon period had a continuous history from the pre-Roman period. Wissenschaftliche Großbibliotheken benötigen einen tragfähigen logistischen Hintergrund, um ihren Serviceauftrag zu erfüllen. Für die Sächsische Landesbibliothek – Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden mit ihrem breiten Aufgabenspektrum und als eine der umsatzstärksten deutschen Bibliotheken gilt dies in besonderem Maße. Am Beispiel der Bereitstellung von Büchern aus den geschlossenen Magazinen beleuchtet der Beitrag zunächst die logistischen Voraussetzungen und Abläufe für eine Verfügbarkeit in optimaler Zeit. Anhand konkreter Szenarien für Ausleih- und Transfervolumen wird anschließend die Logistikplanung für die im September 2008 realisierte Serviceverbesserung durch Wegfall der Vormerkgebühr und Einführung eines Zweigstellentransfers erläutert. / Major scientific libraries rely on solid logistics in the background to be able to fulfil their service tasks. This applies especially to the SLUB Dresden, which is one of the most profitable German libraries. The paper illustrates the different logistics prerequisites and processes involved in the timeoptimised retrieval of books from the stack-room. To conclude, the logistics planning for service improvements realised in September 2008, namely the abolition of fees for book reservations and the introduction of book transfers between department libraries, is explained by way of specific scenarios for circulation transactions and transfer volumes.

Wo beginnt die Kunst? Mit der Idee oder in einer ersten materialisierten Form? Welche Stufen gibt es, und: Sind sie tatsächlich zu trennen von dem, was allgemein als fertiges Werk gilt? Die Ausstellung »Kunst im Werden« zeigt anhand 18 verschiedener Positionen das breite Spektrum einer Entwurfspraxis von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern einer mittleren und älteren Generation, die eben diese Fragen evoziert und vielleicht Antworten darauf liefert.
