Its focus is the experience of a group who enjoy culture in contact with art. The methodologies adopted include the accumulated experience and the realization of three meetings in 2007, with participants of Social Work with Seniors, organized by SESC São José dos Campos/SP. In these meetings, different actions took place, aiming at bringing the group closer to art. Moreover, a bibliographic research of the works of some theoreticians was carried out. Art contributes to the personal development of seniors, as it allows taking a plunge into the quest for the meaning of the social and existential dilemmas to which they are subjected, thus letting them know their emotions and feelings about what life is and its meaning in old age. For the seniors, the artistic experience is extremely stimulating and appropriated, as it favors the development of new relationships contributing as a result to social inclusion of these individuals / Este trabalho é fruto de olhar observador, carregado de curiosidade sobre a construção do conhecimento resultante da complexa relação interdisciplinar entre a gerontologia e a arte. Focaliza a experiência de um grupo como fruidor cultural em contato com a arte. Compõem as metodologias adotadas no estudo, as vivências acumuladas e a realização de três encontros em 2007, com participantes do Trabalho Social com Idosos do SESC de São José dos Campos / SP. Nos encontros houve diferentes ações buscando a aproximação entre o grupo e a arte. Somam-se ainda as pesquisas bibliográficas das obras de alguns teóricos. A arte contribui para o crescimento pessoal dos idosos ao propiciar um mergulho na busca de sentido para os dilemas sociais e existenciais aos quais estão sujeitos, permitindo conhecer suas emoções e sentimentos sobre o que é a vida e seu significado na velhice. A vivência artística, para os velhos é extremamente estimulante e apropriada, pois favorece o desenvolvimento de novos relacionamentos, contribuindo para a inclusão social desses indivíduos
