Previous issue date: 2007-12-14 / In an effort to identify responses pointing towards resilience in the behavioral system of individuals who are successful in confronting adversities and also to understand how such behaviors unfold 220 people were interviewed for the event 148 women and 72 men. The following instruments were used: Identification Data Form Inventory of Stress Symptoms (I.S.S.) Database of Stress Source and Database of Behaviors Pointing to Resilience. It is observed that 72% of individuals are stressed. There is notably a frequent occurrence of psychological symptoms and 76% of the individuals agree to be daily susceptible to innumerous stressful situations. The main stressor refers to the administration of personal tasks especially if the individual is a female and it also refers to the work itself. It is noted that men show a more frequent behavior of resilience than women do. Moreover men manifest a greater ability to control emotions and to face new challenges. However it is noticed both in men and women that those individuals with more distinguished sense of self-control and ability to understand the basis of adversities and those who are optimistic and sympathetic are less likely to develop symptoms of chronic stress. A balanced emotional attitude is considered the main protection factor. Most of those individuals who are not stressed consider that effective skills to confront the adversities are learned throughout the course of their lives. / A fim de identificar comportamentos indicadores de resili?ncia no repert?rio comportamental de indiv?duos que obt?m sucesso no enfrentamento de adversidades e o modo como tais comportamentos foram desenvolvidos, entrevistaram-se 220 pessoas, das quais, 148 mulheres e 72 homens. Utilizaram-se os seguintes instrumentos: Formul?rio de Dados de Identifica??o, Invent?rio de Sintomas de Stress (I.S.S.L.), Levantamento de Fontes de Stress e Levantamento de Comportamentos Indicadores de Resili?ncia. Observou-se que 72% dos participantes apresentaram stress. Houve maior freq??ncia de sintomas psicol?gicos e 76% dos participantes consideraram-se expostos a muitas fontes cotidianas de stress. Os principais estressores encontrados referem-se ? administra??o de rotinas pessoais, especialmente no caso das mulheres, e ao trabalho. Os homens apresentaram maior freq??ncia de comportamentos indicadores de resili?ncia do que as mulheres e demonstraram maior habilidade em regular emo??es e em se predispor a novos desafios. Em ambos os sexos, constatou-se que pessoas com maior senso de auto-efic?cia e com habilidade em analisar as causas das adversidades, controlar emo??es, ser otimista e se comportar com empatia est?o menos expostas ao risco de desenvolver quadros de stress cr?nico. A regula??o emocional mostrou-se o mais influente fator de prote??o. A maioria dos participantes n?o estressados considerou que o repert?rio eficaz de enfrentamento de adversidades foi aprendido ao longo de sua hist?ria de vida.

tens?o e altas exig?ncias. Aspecto central para o homem contempor?neo, a atividade
laboral nem sempre se d? em condi??es adequadas, o que faz com que o trabalhador
esteja cada vez mais propenso a desenvolver doen?as ocupacionais (f?sicas e
psicol?gicas) que podem gerar consequ?ncias pessoais e profissionais diversas. A
S?ndrome do Esgotamento Profissional ou Burnout ? uma s?ndrome psicol?gica
desencadeada em resposta ? exposi??o a fatores estressores interpessoais cont?nuos. ?
considerado um constructo multifatorial, que ? comumente caracterizado por tr?s
dimens?es: a exaust?o emocional, a desumaniza??o e a falta de realiza??o pessoal. Este
trabalho teve como objetivo identificar a incid?ncia da S?ndrome de burnout junto aos
servidores do Minist?rio P?blico do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte ? MPRN, aferindo em
que medida cada uma das tr?s dimens?es acima est?o presentes no grupo estudado, ao
mesmo tempo em que buscou analisar a rela??o entre as var?veis sociodemogr?ficas e
funcionais e as dimens?es encontradas. Na pesquisa descritiva empreendida, optou-se
por uma abordagem multim?todos. Assim, utilizou-se o Maslach Burnout Inventory -
Popula??o Geral (MBI-GS), a observa??o sistem?tica e a entrevista semiestruturada. Os
resultados obtidos indicam que a preval?ncia da patologia na institui??o ? baixa, mas
observam-se aspectos potencializadores para a incid?ncia da doen?a que merecem
aten??o, notadamente no que se refere ? realiza??o profissional. Espera-se que o
diagn?stico empreendido amplie a compreens?o sobre as rela??es entre trabalho e sa?de

interventivas de car?ter individual, organizacional e/ou combinadas. / The constant changes in the workplace promote a charged atmosphere of tension and
high demands. central to contemporary man, labor activity does not always happen under
appropriate conditions, which means that the worker is increasingly likely to develop
occupational diseases (physical and psychological) that can generate personal
consequences and several professional. The Professional Burnout Syndrome or Burnout
is a psychological syndrome triggered in response to exposure to continuous interpersonal
stressors. It is considered a multifactorial construct, which is commonly characterized by
three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, dehumanization and lack of personal
accomplishment. This study aimed to identify the incidence of Burnout Syndrome with the
servers of the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte State - MPRN, assessing to what
extent each of the three dimensions above are present in the study group at the same time
sought analyze the relationship between variables demographic and functional partner and
the dimensions found. In undertaken descriptive research, it was decided by a
multimethod approach. Thus, we used the Maslach Burnout Inventory - General
Population (MBI-GS), systematic observation and semi-structured interview. The results
indicate that the prevalence of the condition in the institution is low, but are observed
improvers aspects to the incidence of the disease that deserve attention, especially with
regard to professional fulfillment. It is expected that the diagnosis undertaken expand the
understanding of the relationship between work and health in the prosecution Potiguar, in
order to subsidize preventive and interventional strategies of individual character,
organizational and / or combined.

As bibliotecas, de modo espec?fico, acompanharam essas evolu??es, passando a demandar nova compet?ncia organizacional para os seus funcion?rios. Necessitando assim, de funcion?rios mais comprometidos que atendessem a um p?blico cada vez mais exigente de forma eficiente e eficaz primando sempre por servi?os de qualidade. Neste contexto, este estudo teve como objetivo geral analisar o comprometimento organizacional dos servidores t?cnico-administrativos que comp?e o Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte utilizando-se do modelo tridimensional do comprometimento organizacional proposto por Meyer e Allen (1991). A popula??o e a amostra do estudo foram compostas pelos 127 servidores do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo, descritiva, de natureza quantitativa. Como t?cnicas de coleta e an?lise dos dados foram utilizados os levantamentos bibliogr?fico e documental para compor o embasamento te?rico da pesquisa, bem como aplica??o de question?rio fechado contendo 40 perguntas em formato likert, validado por Meyer e Allen (1991), cujo os dados obtidos foram tabulados e realizados os cruzamentos por meio do programa SPSS. Portanto, concluiu-se que o n?vel de comprometimento organizacional dos servidores do SISBI detectado com maior incid?ncia foi o comprometimento afetivo, sendo este, seguido do comprometimento calculativo e por ?ltimo o comprometimento normativo. E, ainda que mesmo os servidores possuindo um n?vel de afetividade elevado com institui??o que determina esse comprometimento, as perdas sociais de trabalho e as perdas de retribui??o na organiza??o que fazem parte da dimens?o calculativa s?o levadas em considera??o, sendo uma forma de calcular e inferir sobre esse comprometimento. Deste modo, espera-se que os resultados contribuam em termos te?ricos, para futuras pesquisas, assim como em termos pr?ticos, para o aumento e fortalecimento do comprometimento organizacional dos servidores t?cnico-administrativos do Sistema de Bibliotecas. / In the contemporary world, globalization has provoked a revolution in the media, in the information technologies and in the very logical structure of the functioning of organizations. As an organization, libraries have, in a specific way, followed these revolutions, demanding new organizational skills for their employees, thus requiring more committed employees to serve an increasingly demanding public in an efficient and effective manner, always giving priority to quality services. In this context, this study had as general objective to analyze the organizational commitment of the technical-administrative servers that compose the System of Libraries of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (SISBI), using the three-dimensional model of organizational commitment proposed by Meyer and Allen (1991). The population and the sample of the study were composed of the 127 servers of this System. It is a field research, descriptive, of a quantitative nature. As data collection and analysis techniques, the bibliographical and documentary surveys were used to compose the theoretical basis of the research, as well as the application of a closed questionnaire containing 40 questions in a Likert format, validated by Meyer and Allen (1991), whose data were obtained cross-tabulations were performed using the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. It was concluded that the level of organizational commitment of the SISBI servers detected with greater incidence was the affective commitment, followed by the instrumental commitment, being this finally succeeded to the normative commitment. And even if employees with a high level of affectivity with an institution that determines this commitment, social losses of work and the losses of compensation in the organization that are part of the instrumental dimension are taken into account, being a way of calculating and inferring about this commitment. In this way, the results are expected to contribute in theoretical terms, for future researches, as well as in practical terms, to increase and strengthen the organizational commitment of the technical-administrative servers of the Library System.

Previous issue date: 2010-09-10 / Self-efficacy, the construct developed by Albert Bandura in 1977 and widely studied around
the world, means the individual's belief in his own capacity to successfully perform a certain
activity. This study aims to determine the degree of association between sociodemographic
characteristics and professional training to the levels of Self-Efficacy at Work (SEW) of the
Administrative Assistants in a federal university. This is a descriptive research submitted to
and approved by the Ethics Committee of UFRN. The method of data analysis, in quantitative
nature, was accomplished with the aid of the statistical programs R and Minitab. The
instrument used in research was a sociodemographic data questionnaire, variables of
professional training and the General Perception of Self-efficacy Scale (GPSES), applied to
the sample by 289 Assistants in Administration. Statistical techniques for data analysis were
descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, reliability test (Cronbach's alpha), and test of
significance (Pearson). Results show a sociodemographic profile of Assistants in
Administration of UFRN with well-distributed characteristics, with 48.4% men and 51.6%
female; 59.9% of them were aged over 40 years, married (49.3%), color or race white (58%)
and Catholics (67.8%); families are composed of up to four people (75.8%) with children
(59.4%) of all age groups; the occupation of the mothers of these professionals is mostly
housewives (51.6%) with high school education up to parents (72%) and mothers (75.8%).
Assistants in Administration have high levels of professional training, most of them composed
two groups of servers: the former, recently hired public servants (30.7%) and another with
long service (59%), the majority enter young in career and it stays until retirement, 72.4% of
these professionals have training above the minimum requirement for the job. The analysis of
SEW levels shows medium to high levels for 72% of assistants in administration; low SEWclassified
people have shown a high average of 2.7, considered close to the overall mean
presented in other studies, which is 2.9. The cluster analysis has allowed us to say that the
characteristics of the three groups (Low, Medium and High SEW) are similar and can be
found in the three levels of SEW representatives with all the characteristics investigated. The
results indicate no association between the sociodemographic variables and professional
training to the levels of self-efficacy at work of Assistants in Administration of UFRN, except
for the variable color or race. However, due to the small number of people who declared
themselves in color or black race (4% of the sample), this result can be interpreted as mere
coincidence or the black people addressed in this study have provided a sense of efficacy
higher than white and brown ones. The study has corroborated other studies and highlighted
the subjectivity of the self-efficacy construct. They are needed more researches, especially
with public servants for the continuity and expansion of studies on the subject, making it

n?veis de Autoefic?cia no Trabalho (AET) dos Assistentes em Administra??o de uma
universidade federal. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, submetida e aprovada pelo Comit?
de ?tica em Pesquisa da UFRN. O m?todo de an?lise de dados, de natureza quantitativa, foi
efetivado com o aux?lio dos programas estat?sticos R e Minitab. O instrumento utilizado na
investiga??o foi o question?rio de dados sociodemogr?ficos, vari?veis de capacita??o
profissional e a Escala de Autoefic?cia Geral Percebida (EAEGP) aplicado ? amostra
constitu?da por 289 Assistentes em Administra??o. As t?cnicas estat?sticas para a an?lise dos
dados foram estat?stica descritiva, an?lise de agrupamentos, teste de confiabilidade (Alfa de
Cronbach), teste de signific?ncia (Pearson). Os resultados mostram um perfil
sociodemogr?fico dos Assistentes em Administra??o da UFRN com caracter?sticas bem
distribu?das, sendo 48,4% homens e 51,6% mulheres; 59,9% deles t?m idade acima de 40
anos, casados (49,3%), de cor ou ra?a branca (58%) e religi?o cat?lica (67,8%); as fam?lias
s?o compostas por at? quatro pessoas (75,8%), com filhos (59,4%) de todas as faixas et?rias; a
ocupa??o das m?es destes profissionais ? na maioria do lar (51,6%), com escolaridade at?
ensino m?dio completo para pais (72%) e m?es (75,8%). Os Assistentes em Administra??o
apresentam n?veis de capacita??o profissional elevados; a maior parte deles comp?e dois
grupos de servidores: o primeiro, com servidores contratados recentemente (30,7%) e outro
com longo tempo de servi?o (59%); a maioria entra jovem na carreira e nela permanece at? a
aposentadoria; 72,4% destes profissionais t?m forma??o acima do requisito m?nimo para o
cargo. A an?lise dos n?veis de AET mostra n?veis M?dios e Altos para 72% dos Assistentes
em Administra??o; as pessoas, classificadas com Baixa AET, apresentam uma AET m?dia de
2,7, considerada pr?xima ? m?dia geral, apresentada em outros estudos, que ? de 2,9. A
an?lise de agrupamentos permite dizer que as caracter?sticas dos tr?s grupos (Baixa, M?dia e
Alta AET) s?o semelhantes, podendo ser encontrados nos tr?s n?veis de AET representantes
com todas as caracter?sticas investigadas. Os resultados indicam que n?o h? associa??o entre
as vari?veis sociodemogr?ficas e de capacita??o profissional com os n?veis de autoefic?cia
no trabalho dos Assistentes em Administra??o da UFRN, exceto em rela??o ? vari?vel cor ou
ra?a. Contudo, em fun??o do n?mero reduzido de pessoas que se autodeclararam de cor ou
ra?a preta (4% da amostra), esse resultado pode ser interpretado como mera casualidade ou as
pessoas pretas abordadas no presente estudo apresentam um senso de efic?cia mais elevado do
que brancos e pardos. O estudo corrobora outros estudos e evidencia a subjetividade do
construto autoefic?cia. Mais pesquisas s?o necess?rias, principalmente com servidores, para a
continuidade e amplia??o dos estudos sobre o tema, o que possibilitar? comparar e confirmar
os resultados

A pesquisa tem como objetivo geral compreender a atua??o profissional dos servidores de n?vel superior da carreira administrativa da UFRN no contexto do novo modelo de gest?o p?blica, considerando aspectos como foco no cidad?o, profissionaliza??o, m?rito, planejamento estrat?gico e mensura??o de resultados. ? do tipo descritivo e caracteriza-se como estudo de caso, em que foram investigados os servidores t?cnico-administrativos em educa??o ocupantes de cargos de n?vel superior lotados na UFRN, utilizando a abordagem qualitativa de an?lise, com base em pesquisa bibliogr?fica, documental e de campo. Os dados coletados atrav?s de documentos dispostos em relat?rios e estat?sticas institucionais, bem como na legisla??o e normatiza??o pertinentes, foram a base para a formula??o do perfil dos servidores t?cnico-administrativos da institui??o. A pesquisa de campo analisou respostas sobre os aspectos da nova gest?o p?blica, atrav?s do m?todo da an?lise de conte?do e da t?cnica de an?lise categorial. Com a an?lise do perfil dos servidores de n?vel superior, foi poss?vel verificar a atua??o dos profissionais t?cnicos na UFRN e as principais caracter?sticas deste grupo ocupacional em rela??o ?s premissas da nova gest?o p?blica. Ainda que, em diversos aspectos, haja converg?ncia entre as pr?ticas gerenciais e os preceitos da nova gest?o p?blica, n?o ? poss?vel afirmar que os servidores se apropriaram dos processos de trabalho no modelo da nova gest?o p?blica. As iniciativas de ado??o de modelos de profissionaliza??o e m?rito, planejamento estrat?gico e as escassas tentativas de avalia??o de desempenho com base em metas e de acompanhamento de resultados se devem ao conhecimento individual do gestor e n?o a um modelo institucional. / The public universities, as institutions which are responsible for the cultural and professional instruction of excellence, for an expressive part of the scientific and technological production and for the knowledge transference to the productive processes, represent some of the most complexes productive organizations of society. Therefore, the composition of a qualified picture of workers must reflect the routes it needs to take to project itself in the future, flattering the current premises from the public institutional context. The research has as main target understand how do the superior level workers from the administrative career of the UFRN realize the new model of public management, considering aspects such as the focus on the citizen, professionalization, merit, strategic planning and measurement of results, on the scope of his professional acting. It is descriptive type and is characterizes as a study of case, in which were investigated the technical-administrative workers in education, occupiers of crowded superior level roles in UFRN, using the qualitative approach of analysis, based on a bibliographic, documental and field research. The collected data through documents organized in reports and institutional statists, also in relevant legislation and standardization, were the base to the formulation of the profiles from the technical-administrative workers of the institution. The field research analyzes answers about the aspects of the new public management, through the content analysis method and the categorical analysis technic. With the profile analysis of the superior level workers, was possible to verify the application of the technical professionals in the UFRN and the main characteristics of this occupational group on relation to the new public management?s assumptions. Yet in many aspect there are convergence between the management practical and the precepts of the new public management, it?s not possible to affirm that the workers have taken the working processes of the new public management model.
