The test takes about 90 minutes of application, a long time considered for evaluation. Short Forms can reduce the time of application and interpretation of results, facilitating its use in contexts where the intelligence assessment is secondary or in cases of search. But they are not suitable for classification of intelligence, or clinical purposes. The study was based in the standardization sample to the Brazilian context (n = 801). The reliability coefficients ranged from 0.81 to 0.94 and the validity of 0.66 to 0.93. Such coefficients were significant and acceptable, suggesting that the four Short Forms can be used for a quick estimate of IQ Total / O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar qual a Forma Reduzida da Escala de Inteligência Wechsler para Crianças terceira edição (WISC-III) é mais adequada para a utilização no contexto brasileiro e apresentar as características psicométricas de quatro modelos com dois, quatro e oito subtestes.

COMPARING BRIEF MEASURES OF NARCISSISM: INTERNAL CONSISTENCY, VALIDITY, COVERAGE

Melissa Packer West (12469356) 27 April 2022 (has links)
<p>Narcissism is a personality construct linked to dysfunction in several domains. It encompasses grandiose and vulnerable variants as well as antagonism, agentic extraversion, and neuroticism higher-order factors. Many measures that vary in breadth and length have been constructed to measure narcissism. In recent years, super-short forms have become popular in research settings. Although brief measures hold some advantages, their brevity can come at psychometric costs. The comparative limitations of these short narcissism forms have received relatively little empirical examination. The goal of the current project was to fill this gap by determining the potential costs and benefits of using short measures of narcissism rather than longer measures in an online community sample (<em>N</em>= 473). This examination included assessing short form completion time, psychometric properties, structure, and measurement invariance across gender. Generally, the short forms demonstrated adequate internal consistency, variable convergence with each other, and mostly moderate to strong convergence with long forms. Short forms with long form counterparts performed well in terms of accounting for the variance of their long form counterparts. The short form items used for the bass-ackward analysis successfully replicated the factor structure of narcissism found by Crowe et al. (2019) using longer narcissism measures at both the two- and three-factor level, which showed measurement invariance across gender, generally at the scalar invariance level. Taken together, these findings suggest that it is still likely most advantageous to use the long forms whenever possible but that some short forms could be used when efficiency of survey administration is particularly important without significant psychometric cost.</p>

Les ressources du français dans l'oeuvre de Giacomo Leopardi : théorie et pratique / Resorting to French in the Works of Giacomo Leopardi : theory and practice

Andreotti, Francesca Romana 30 June 2010 (has links)
French - meant as a cultural and linguistic whole with a unique philosophical-literary coding structured in ensemble of forms, genres and texts – has a crucial role in the thought and in the works of Giacomo Leopardi, from the beginning of his philosophical and literary education to his very late writings. It is, indeed, the only modern language - i.e. the only available resource for the interlinguistic exchange in the translation-transaction - which acted significantly in the author’s elaboration and production, emerging as the other language par excellence. Its ambivalent role both in writing, where French is used in a fruitful and refined way, and in theory, where it is faced to a polemical and critical approach, is evident throughout the Zibaldone, in author’s theoretical considerations about languages and translation, in many notes about lexicology and contrastive linguistic as well as in literary forms varying from the assay to the poem or the letter. In this context, the first section of this thesis explores, from a translatological point of view, Leopardi’s use of French in those various forms of writings where the linguistic invention and the genesis of literary texts themselves set up in the field of the entre-deux between similar languages. The second section, instead, focuses on the relation among short forms, poetic writing and the practice of the re-writing from a language to another, in the translation-remake of A.V. Arnault’s La Feuille, the tale in form of a poem, that Leopardi put at the end of the Canti, in its very last structure published in 1835.

Specifika češtiny ruských studentů (se zaměřením na vybrané fonetické a morfosyntaktické jevy) / Characteristics of the Czech language of Russian students(with a focus on selected phonetic and morphosyntactic phenomena)

Ramasheuskaya, Katsiaryna January 2015 (has links)
Language adaptation of foreigners is always accompanied by a number of problems connected to the acquisition and the use of the language which becomes the primary communicative tool in the new environment. Ignoring and underestimating these problems typical of a particular language community can result in a failure to master the target language and consequently in the unsuccessful integration in the new society. This thesis is aimed at specific problems in the area of morphosyntax and phonetics, characteristic of Russian-speaking students of Czech. At the same time, it warns about the danger of overestimating positive transfer from Russian and emphasizes the necessity of using special didactic approach in teaching this group of foreign-language speakers. The analysis of the chosen language phenomena is based on the data from the Database of the voice recordings of spoken Czech by native speakers of Russian and the Database of language mistakes in Czech made by speakers whose native language is another Slavic language, which were created, among others, for the purpose of this thesis. The attention is specifically focused on the use of the reflexive se/si, forms of the auxiliary verb to be in the past tense, short forms of personal pronouns in spoken and written production of Russian-speaking...
