Komplexe Systeme mit dynamischem, nichtlinearem Verhalten durch Simulation verstehen und optimieren

Burkhard, Adam 14 June 2017 (has links)

Development of a Graphical User Interface Prototype for an Ambulance Dispatchment Simulator

Tranucharat Falk, Josefina, Wieder, Tuva January 2023 (has links)
This paper is based on Amouzad Mahdiraji’s research about an agent-based ambulance dispatchment simulator. A simulator which is currently not focused on visual user interfaces and usability. In this study, we implemented design science to structure our research for creating a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) prototype for an ambulance dispatchment system. We used theories concerning usability and human cognition to support the development of the prototype which was later evaluated through interviews. Cognitive overload or confusion concerning a GUI can cause stress and problems which results in various errors and costs, affecting businesses and users in multiple ways. Our study resulted in a second version of the prototype in which interview analysis and theories, mainly the Gestalt principles and heuristics, were applied. Design decisions for the second version were made to improve the usability and minimize risks of confusion. Usability in a graphical user interface can be achieved in different approaches, this study shows one of them. However, to create a suitable interface for an ambulance dispatchment system, more research is required.

Matematický model kotle na biomasu pro účely řízení / Mathematical Model of Biomass Boiler for Control Purposes

Máša, Vítězslav January 2010 (has links)
he thesis focuses on building of dynamic mathematical model of biomass boiler as a controlled system and the use of this model in practise. At the first part of the thesis the area of energy production using biomass is introduced and the current development at the area of the automatic control of biomass boilers with medium energy output (in units of MW) is described. Although the main topic of the thesis is the construction of model of biomass boiler for control purposes, thesis deals with technology of boilers and principles of its inner processes as well. Creation of the model comes out not only from these important findings, but also from experimental data collected during measurements in real operation. Heat and mass balance calculations were made according to these data and they serve to precise static properties of experimental unit for biomass combustion. Central part of the thesis presents development of the final model that resulted from balance calculations and from step responses of the system obtained by measuring. Built dynamic model is compared with experimental data through simulations in Simulink and verified. At the next part the model of controlled system is completed with control system and closed-loop control circuit is validated and verified by simulation. Then the design of new controller configuration, which improves the quality of control considerably, is presented. At the final part of the thesis, possibilities of other use of the model of boiler are given, both in control theory and in industrial practice.

An Extensible Component-Based Architecture for Web-Based Simulation Using Standards-Based Web Browsers

Myers, David S. 23 September 2004 (has links)
Web-based simulation (WBS) systems offer tradeoffs between user interactivity and hardware requirements striking to seek a balance between the differing concerns. Server-based systems offer little interactivity or concurrent visualization capabilities, while client-based systems have increased hardware requirements asking the user to provide high-end workstations. Concurrent visualization of simulation output proves execution intensive, or unusable in some situations. Creating an execution efficient and user friendly WBS system greatly improves user experience while gaining all of the benefits inherent in a web-based system such as high accessibility and ease of maintenance. In order to provide a usable concurrent visualization WBS this thesis developed the Web-Based Queuing System Simulation System (WebQS3). WebQS3 splits the responsibilities of simulation execution and simulation visualization into a client-server environment; the client is responsible for the visualization display and server is responsible for simulation execution. The system differs from many previous WBS systems in that the client-side application is developed using web-standard technologies such as HTTP, XML, SVG, and ECMAScript instead relying on Java Applets and associated technologies. Using web-standards as the foundation of the client agent opens the visualization and model construction functionality to any user that accesses the application using a web browser while also making the application more scalable in terms of user load. Implementing the client with web-standards also included the development of an asynchronous client-server communication protocol as opposed to traditional synchronous communication protocols used by Java WBS systems. The asynchronous protocol demonstrates similar or better execution performance than similar synchronous communication protocols in most quality characteristics. By creating a WBS system using web-standards implemented in most modern web browsers any user may visit the WebQS3 site and have simulation tools available for use. Providing simulation services on the web makes eases the creation of simulation models my making the tools to readily available while facilitating information sharing and collaboration over the web. The WebQS3 system serves as a model to drive research in WBS systems away from proprietary Java technologies to web standards for front-end visualization technologies. / Master of Science

Modellering av ett rapportgenereringssystem ur ett designperspektiv

Tabibzadeh, Sam, Moradi, Adrian January 2017 (has links)
Writing reports is very important in many functions of society and is mostly done manually today. To be able to automate the generation of reports has for a long time been a challenge, and a solution would save time and resources. The question of how an infrastructure of an automated report generator could be designed is very relevant for both research and practice. The Swedish Armed Forces is no exception, currently they write reports manually when they use their simulation system for fictional battles which they later on use for training of personnel. We have cooperated with the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) to study this question. In this study, we present an information infrastructure model. The model is based upon a design perspective and concerns an information infrastructure that supports a simulation system. The model takes into account both practical and research related perspectives. With the help of requirements that were gathered via interviews and discussions with FOI, Swedish Armed Forces and an expert within the field of information infrastructure, we took into account practical related aspects in the development of the model. The research related aspects are taken into account by using other studies and methods.
