Techniques multi-port pour la conception et la réalisation de systèmes micro-ondes dédiés à l'évaluation non destructive de matériaux / Multi-port technology for the conception and reallisation of microwave systems dedicated to non-destructive evaluation of materials

Benzaim, Oussama 07 July 2009 (has links)
Non Destructive microwave Testing (NDT) consists in examining a material so that after testing, its future use is not affected. Such characterization is usually achieved through the measurement of reflection and/or transmission properties of the material under test by a vector network analyzer. However, this type of equipment is oversized in terms of measurements abilities and cost for a use outside the laboratory. In order to overcome this limitation, we have developed, with a view to low cost, systems based on the six-port technique. In particular, a dual four-port reflectometer is developed for the measurement of reflection and transmission parameters of passive devices in the frequency range of 55 - 65 GHz. In addition, we have proposed complete solution which integrates hardware and software resources allowing the development of specialized systems in the field of microwave characterization. The added software solutions, based on artificial neural networks contribute to satisfy the needs of a non-destructive, quantitative evaluation. Finally, in order to perform characterization of defects whose dimensions are smaller than the wavelength, a mm-wave microscope formed by the mm-wave system and associated with an evanescent wave probe has been proposed. This ensemble reveals changes in magnitude and phase reflection coefficients of the material under test, allowing non-contact measurements. ___________________________________________________________________________

Využití nástrojů Six Sigma v praxi / Utilization of Six Sigma tools in practice

Prepletaná, Miroslava January 2010 (has links)
Aim of this thesis is to show practical usage of Six Sigma tools. Six sigma is considered a system of quality control, managerial style or methodology. It is always supported by solid data as it originates in statistics.. Concept is used for improvement of current processes, design of new ones or their better management with one ultimate goal -- refinement of business results. Core of its success is a customer oriented focus and expectation fulfilment. Six Sigma tools can be employed across all business actvities from manufacture to administration. Practical part describes employment of Six sigma tools in four separate chapters. Tools were applied on a real existing company. I am focused on Voice of Customer in the first chapter, which is essential for all other activities across company. Its strong feature is customer feedback. Next chapter deals with 5S tools and their implementation in manufacturing plants and their benefits for company. Third and last chapter describe two projects, which were implemented to back office. Refinement processes were based on DMAIC procedure. Their goal was to accelerate pricing process and sublime output, which is critical for management decision.

Rebuilding identity: the District Six Museum's involvement in the current redevelopment of the District Six site.

Koseff, Lara Simone 05 June 2008 (has links)
This paper examines how and to what extent the District Six Museum has contributed the current redevelopment of the District Six site. Since its inception, the Museum has challenged accepted definitions of heritage and has transcended common museological practices through its initiative as an institution to go beyond nurturing the memory of one of the most iconic sites of forced removal in South Africa, but to also contribute to the site’s redevelopment. The Museum grew out of an organisation that was dedicated to protecting the empty wasteland that the District had become since it was announced a ‘white area’ by the apartheid government and bulldozed. The same group of people became passionate not only about protecting the site, and conducting “memory work” surrounding it but eventually contributing to a process of restitution and rebuilding the homes and lives of those whose houses where destroyed and communities were fragmented. This paper considers such an initiative, which began in a pre-democratic environment where the concept of heritage was ill-defined and cultural institutions often served apartheid agendas. This consideration will involve an examination of the way in which the District Six Museum developed; the Museum’s role and how this role has evolved and the District Six that has been re-imagined through the Museum and how this “idea” is contributing to re-development.

Aplicação da metodologia Lean Six Sigma para melhoria de um processo produtivo / Application of lean six sigma to improve an industrial process

Schaffer, Augusto January 2016 (has links)
Lean Six Sigma is a methodology originated from the integration of Lean and Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma seeks for eliminate waste and reduce defects, combining benefits from both methodologies. The objective of this dissertation is apply the Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve a production process. In this dissertation is presented a bibliography review about the Lean and Six Sigma methodology, looking for understanding of the Lean Six Sigma sources and a review about the Lean Six Sigma methodology. Based on the bibliography review is presented a methodology to apply Lean Six Sigma, that has the DMAIC as the structure (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control). This methodology is applied to improve a production process. The results of the Lean Six Sigma application were the increase of sigma level and reduction of process defects, showing that Lean and Six Sigma can be combined and how this combination happens. The success factors of the application of Lean Six Sigma methodology were evidenced.
