Romero, Nilton Carlos de Souza. January 2009 (has links)
A cobertura do solo de 100%, em relação a 0%, reduziu a concentração de MO, no sedimento erodido, em 81,9%, a concentração de fósforo em 84,2%, a de potássio em 66,7%, a de cálcio em 84,5%, e reduziu em 89,8% a de magnésio / Abstract: Reductions in losses of organic matter and nutrients by water erosion become crucial in the current context of sustainable production systems to increase carbon sequestration in soil and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to the greenhouse gases like CO2. Thus the present work had a goal to quantify the concentration of organic material (MO) and nutrients (P,K,Ca, and Mg) into a erosive sediments and also make an calculate according to increasing and enrichment soil's rates, if there are enrichment of MO and nutrients in a cultivated area of sugar-cane plantation provided with mechanical crop the next levels of soil's coverage, 0% (CS0), 50% (CS50) and 100% (CS100). The experimental pieces were submited into a simulated raining with intensity of 60 mm h-1, during 65 minutes. After that, the analysis of the sediments, determinated the following variation: MO (2.9 to 0.5), P (1.5 to 0.2), K (2.4 to 0.8), Ca (3.5 to 0.5), Mg (3.3 to 0.3), being the soil's coverage 0% (CS0) to 100% (CS100), showing that the soil's coverage of 100% was efficient, presenting all values of enrichment rates (ER) below 0.9 with significant difference comparing to the others coverage, 0% (CS0) and 50% (CS50), except for potassium. The soil's coverage of 100%, on soil's coverage of 0%, have reduced the concentration of MO, in the erosive sediments, in 81.9%, the concentration of phosphorus in 84.2%, the concentration of potassium in 66.7%, the concentration of calcium in 84.5%, And reduced in 89.8% the magnesium concentration / Mestre

Weeds can cause damages to economic crops by competition for water, light and nutrients in cultivated areas. This work aimed to evaluate maize yield and weeds population after green manures cultivation. The experiment was conducted in an Ultisol, placed at Integrated System of Agroecological Production, in Serop?dica, RJ, from October 2014 to June 2015. The experimental design was of randomized blocks, with six treatments and four replications. The treatments involved previous cultivation with sunnhemp (Crotalaria juncea), jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis), velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima), sunflower (Helianthus annuus), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), and fallow. The green manures were sowed in October, being cultivated during 113 days after sowing. After that, they were cut. Five days after the cut and deposition of the green manures residues in the soil surface, it was sowed maize var. Caatingueiro, adopting spacing of 1,0 m between lines and density of five seeds per linear meter, with a population of 50.000 plants per hectare. Weeds population was evaluated at 15, 30, 45, and 60 days after maize sowing, collecting samples of weeds for identification and quantification of species, and dry biomass production. The obtained data were used for determining of phytosocial indexes. Dry biomass of green manures was greater for the treatments sunnhemp and sorghum. On the other hand, dry biomass of weeds was greater in the treatment velvet bean. Yield of maize without straw; yield of shoot biomass; diameter, length and N contents in grains and shoot did not show significant differences between treatments. Weeds population compositions is influenced by the soil cover crops. The use of sorghum was efficient regarding to biomass production and weeds control. Sunnhemp and sorghum produced biomass values above the recommended amounts for no-tillage system. / Abstract: Mulching practices are of major importance in contributing to the success of agricultural production under no-tillage conditions. Plant residues employed as mulching material are considered as the major factor in improving the physical, chemical and biological soil proprieties for subsequent crop growth. The identification of soil management system takes into account the grows rate as well as the concentration of the selected mulching culture. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the combination of different quantities maize crop residues and mineral nitrogen, deposited on a dystroferric Red Latosol soil type, linking its decomposition to the physical and hydic attributes associated to the no-tillage system adopted with irrigated beans. Tests were carried out on the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at UNICAMP in Campinas, São Paulo, from June to September 2007, in randomized blocks with three replications using a 3x4 factorial design (total of 12 treatments and 36 plots). The nitrogen levels were zero, 50 kg ha-1 and 120 kg ha-1 and the straw mulch amounts were zero, 4.0 Mg ha-1, 6.0 Mg ha-1 and 10.0 Mg ha-1. Data were submitted for analysis of variance to evaluate the treatments and to compare the means by Tukey test with 5% probability for comparison of means through the SAS program. The results showed that the treatment associate to the highest doses of maize residues on the soil surface provided an increase in the moisture content over the culture cycle of irrigated beans. Maize residues decomposition curve was similar in all assessed treatments, and was not influenced by nitrogen application, reflecting a slow decomposition which guarantees good coverage throughout the culture cycle and supporting subsequent crop activities. Plant residues incorporation in the soil, resulted in an increase in organic matter content in the first 2/3 of the bean cultivation cycle. Treatments with the highest doses of straw residues on the soil surface provided a decrease of soil resistance to penetration and an increase in the moisture content over the culture cycle. However, under no-tillage system the presence of straw and nitrogen together promoted an increase in the yield of beans when compared with the one using mulching without any treatment. / Mestrado / Agua e Solo / Mestre em Engenharia Agrícola

Coastal livelihoods : A study of population and land-use in Noarootsi, Estonia 1690 to 1940

Kiimann, Hele January 2016 (has links)
This thesis investigates how the inhabitants formed the coastal landscape of northwest Estonia through both internal change and external impact by estate owners, provincial government and imperial decrees. Two villages on the largely Swedish populated Noarootsi peninsula, Einbi (Enby) and Kudani (Gutanäs), are examined in detail. The aim was to answer questions about how the local livelihoods and farming systems of coastal inhabitants changed from the late 1600s to 1940. The background of a gradual weakening of the manorial estate system from 1800 onwards and a rapid development of freehold family farming from the 1860s is important to the analysis. To examine the complex variety of factors and interactions that shape the landscape, an interdisciplinary approach to change has been used. This approach included a conceptual model for the local production unit, such as the individual farm. Information from historical maps, diverse population registers and agricultural censuses were used. The soil cover was examined with samples taken during fieldwork in the studied villages. The study shows how the development of two villages in fairly similar geographic settings differed largely due to socio-political restrictions. During feudal times, the primary changes were related to the fact that local nobility could maintain their land ownership rights and regulations for manorial deliveries and corvée duties. Changes to natural conditions, such as soil quality and land uplift, had no substantial effect on land productivity. From the 19th century, the most important factor was the legalized opportunity to purchase farms as freeholds from estates, as well as through land reforms in an independent Estonia. The traditional niche of coastal Swedish peasants, who depended on a variety of productive activities, remained in practice. As all manor land was nationalized, many new smallholdings and crofts were created based on external activities by inhabitants, such as farm day labor. Farm productivity was now increased primarily by improvement to land quality (use of artificial fertilizers and meadow drainage), and by the introduction of new implements and crops on farms consolidated from open fields.

Klisch, Anja January 2003 (has links)
Soil erosion models become increasingly more complex and contain physically based components, resulting in changing requirements for their input parameters. The spatial and temporal dynamics of erosions forcing parameters thus produce high requirements on data availability (costs and manpower). Due to this fact, the use of complex erosion models for extensive regions is strongly limited by the high in-situ expense. Moreover, conventional measurement procedures provide parameters at certain points, while remote sensing is a two-dimensional retrieval method.<br /> <br /> This thesis demonstrates, how satellite data can be used as a cost-effective supplementation or alternative to conventional measurement procedures. Leaf area index (LAI) and soil cover percentage are examplarily derived for the EROSION 3D physically based soil erosion model. The main objective of this study is to summarise existing retrieval methods in order to operationally provide such paramaters for soil erosion models or for process models in general. The methods are applied to a catchment in the loess region in Saxony (Germany), that predominantly is agriculturally used. For comparison, simulations based on conventionally estimated parameters for 29 rainstorm events are available [MICHAEL et al. 2000]. <br /> <br /> The remote sensing parameters are derived from Landsat 5 TM data on the following dates: 13.03.1999, 30.04.1999, 19.07.1999. To get temporally continuous data for all events, they are interpolated between the acquisition dates based on the LAI development. Therefore, LAI is firstly calculated for all occurring crops by means of the semi-empirical models of CLEVERS [1986] and BARET & GUYOT [1991]. The coefficients appropriated to these models are taken from literature. Furthermore, a method is investigated that enables coefficient estimation for the Clevers model from Landsat data combined with a simplified growth model. Next, soil cover percentage is derived from LAI after ROSS [1981]. The LAI interpolation is performed by the simplified crop growth model from the SWIM hydrological model [Krysanova et al. 1999]. It has to be mentioned, that plant residue remains unconsidered by the used methods. In comparison to conventional measurement procedures, these methods supply a differentiated mapping of the spatial variability and temporal behaviour regarding the vegetation parameters.<br /> <br /> The simulations with EROSION 3D are carried out for the remotely sensed soil cover percentages, that are retrieved in two ways. Soil cover is directly derived from the remote sensing data for each pixel at the acquisition dates as well as estimated by means of the interpolation for each field on all rainstorm events. In comparison to conventionally determined soil cover, both methods provide an improved spatial allocation of this parameter and thus, a spatial reallocation of erosion and deposition areas. The used Landsat Data provide an adequate spatial resolution suitable for the spatial heterogeneity given in the test area (e. g. field size). These results show that satellite based remote sensing can be reasonably used within the scope of these investigations. In the future, operational retrieval of such remotely sensed parameters necessitates the validation of the proposed methods and in general the automation of involved sub-processes to the greatest possible extent

The sewage sludge, major waste volume generated during treatment processes of domestic effluents shows a problematic final disposal, impairing its direct use in agriculture. The experiment was installed grass grower property locates in Itapetininga, São Paulo. The used crop was the Zoysia japonica Steud, known as “Esmeralda”. The experimental delineation used in the work was the randomized blocks one, with twelve treatments and five repetitions. The treatments were defined by five compound sludge doses (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 Mg ha-1 , dry base), an inorganic fertilizer dose and two applications (compound unique and parceled application). It was used the sewage sludge compounded from the Sewage Treatment Station of Jundiai County. The rates applied correspond to 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg ha-1 of nitrogen. It can be concluded that the 212 days after the compound application, the 30 Mg ha-1 rate allowed the complete formation of the sod (100% cover rate). It was verified that happened a weight loss in zoysiagrass sod with the applied compounded sewage sludge doses raising, and resistance raising for 30 Mg ha-1 doses. The control and plots which received doses of 10 Mg ha-1 have not formed sod. There were no losses and all sod were good using the rates of 30 and 40 Mg ha-1. There was a reduction of 8% in the weight of sod that received 40 Mg ha-1 rate compared to 30 Mg ha-1 rate, and 10% compared to chemical fertilizer. The 30 Mg ha-1 rate showed the best sod strength and formation. Control and plots that received 10 Mg ha-1 rates did not form sod. In the 30 and 40 Mg ha-1 rates, 100% of the sod showed integers, with no damage and with great marketing features. The application of composted sewage sludge did not affect the soil moisture in the 0-5cm layer.

Backes, Clarice, 1976- January 2008 (has links)
Com a utilização do escarificador ...(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The final disposal of municipal waste in the ground is not only an appropriate system, but also the opportunity for management of those with the least possible effect on the environment and can generate chemical and physical benefits to the soil. The present study aimed to evaluate the sewage sludge doses and its residual effects in the zoysiagrass sod production system and also the chemical changes in the soil. The experiment was carried out in a grass grower property, located in the city of Itapetininga-SP. The turfgrass used was Zoysia japonica Steud. known as esmeralda. The experimental design adopted was randomized blocks with split plot design, with four replications, the main plots consisting of two management systems (with and without chisel use, to break a compacted surface layer) and subplots consisting of five doses of sludge (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 Mg ha-1, a dry basis), another treatment with chemical fertilization, according to the requirement of the culture. The sludge used came from "Estação de Tratamento de Esgoto de Jundiaí". The doses of sludge applied correspond to the doses of 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg ha-1 of nitrogen. After sod harvesting it was evaluated the residual effect of the sludge doses and evaluated the management system used. It can be concluded that 165 days after application of sewage sludge the dose of 31 Mg ha-1 allowed the complete closing of the zoysiagrass sod (100% of soil cover rate). The same results were found when used chemical fertilization. The control and the plots that received 10 Mg ha-1 of sludge did not formed sod. There was a reduction in weight of zoysiagrass sod with increasing doses of sludge applied. With the use of surface chisel, there was a decrease in the strength of zoysiagrass sod. There were residual effect of sludge application and also of chemical fertilization in...(Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Orientador: Leonardo Theodoro Büll / Coorientador: Roberto Lyra Villas Bôas / Banca: Dirceu Maximino Fernandes / Banca: Heitor Cantarella / Banca: Wanderley da Silva Paganini / Banca: Leandro José Grava de Godoy / Doutor

A produção do homem e da natureza no campo: a Comuna da Terra \'Irmã Alberta\' na reorganização da dinâmica da paisagem e seu inverso / The production of man and nature in the field: The Commune Earth \"Sister Alberta\" in the reorganization of the landscape dynamics and its inverse

Catarucci, Amanda de Fátima Martin 25 April 2014 (has links)
O trabalho abrange, ainda, a discussão das limitações da modalidade de assentamento rural de Desenvolvimento Sustentável, proposto pelo INCRA, e respectivamente, de Comuna da Terra, pelo MST, na promoção do bem-estar e reprodução material das famílias camponesas e no alcance dos objetivos de sustentabilidade que se propõem / The research addresses the understanding of the relationship between society and nature in the field, through the case study of the Commune Earth \"Irmã Alberta\", established as a rural settlement by the Movement of Landless Rural Workers ( MST ), since 2002, in the district of Perus São Paulo / SP and regularization process by INCRA. We were careful to grasp the influence of the physical environment in determining modes of farm area in question and the impact of agricultural production systems in the dynamic landscape, questioning the practices of families in relation to the management of the physical environment. In this sense, it is understood that there is a production landscape by historical process of appropriation of land and vice versa. The historical reconstruction of the agrarian structure of the region and preparation of thematic maps of the physical subsidized the study of interactions of the pedological and agricultural production systems of the settlement. The characterization of pedological systems occurred from the characterize the impact of human actions on the morphology of the soil using the technique of Cultural Profile. The work also covers the discussion of the limitations of the type of rural settlement of \"Sustainable Development\" proposed by INCRA and respectively the Commune of the Earth, the MST, in promoting well - being and material reproduction of peasant families and achievement of sustainability goals proposed

Determinação de parâmetros hidrológicos por técnicas de sensoriamento remoto em macrodrenagem urbana / Determination of hydrological parameters by remote sensing techniques in urban macrodrainage

Martins, Leandro Guimarães Bais 11 May 2012 (has links)
In urban centers, precipitation always been related to problems such as floods and spread of disease. To solve them, it is common to make hydraulic interventions in the urban drainage systems. For this, it is necessary to know the conditions of the watershed and the consequences that any change in the environment can cause. Therefore, hydrological models are used to predict the river behavior in opposite to precipitation events, increasing the efficiency of the hydraulic interventions and reducing the associated risks to these. For the use of models, it is necessary to have several hydrological parameters related to the basin such as drainage area, river length, slope of the thalweg, type of soil cover etc. Trough the technological advancement, the parameter determination becomes more accurate as well as the models, and the Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing appear as powerful tools to support hydrological studies. In this study, we have applied the automatic supervised classification process by the Object-Oriented Analysis method to a high resolution satellite image of the córrego do Gregório watershed, to classify soil coverage and to determine the hydrological parameters curve-number (CN by the SCS method), vegetation degree (PP), area (A), length (L), and slope of thalwegs (S) of the sub-basins of the córrego do Gregório watershed, for which the results were quite satisfactory. Finally, a hydrological model for the São Carlos macrodrainage system called EESC model (1993) was updated with the new parameters, obtaining final hydrographs with differences from the original model up to 33.96% for peak discharge (Qp), 77.78% for peak time (tp) and 29.86% for total volume of runoff.
