A simbolização nas imagens poéticas de Cecília Meireles e Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen: tempo e espaço / Cecília Meireles and Sofia de Mello Breyner: philosophical reflections about the time and their relations with the space

Rezende, Jussara Neves 10 April 2006 (has links)
In a same age marked by philosophical reflections about the time and their relations with the space, Cecília Meireles and Sofia de Mello Breyner Andresen handed over to the world their first poetic pieces of writing, in which they reveal that those same reflections is not far from poetry. The other way round, in a space-time characterized by the transiency of things, the poetry shows itself as a way of balance in the middle of the passage, avoiding the total being\'s dispersion. This being the case, our analysis tries to focus the forms that space and time take on the poetry of both writers, investigating the possibility of those \"chronotopos\" be useful to the revelation of the human experience in the time and the space.

Finding Power Within the Language : - a securitization study of operation EUNAVFOR MED

Smith, Josefine January 2016 (has links)
This research paper takes departure from the contradictions of understandings regarding the purpose of operation EUNAVFOR Med, which operates in the Mediterranean aiming at disrupting the business model of human smugglers. The alteration of opinions concerns the question(s) regarding, to what extent the operation should be considered a securitization, and if so, of what? Research has consequently been drawn from the Copenhagen’s School theory of securitization, looking deeper into the involvement of the main actors in the operation, the EU, the human smugglers and the migrants, in order to identify if this operation could indeed be considered a securitization act. By placing the main actors of the operation in the center of the theoretical framework this research has been able to identify how this operation can be understood from a securitization theory and also what has been securitized. The methodological approach is based upon Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, framing both the structure and the analytical apparatus of the research paper, enabling an even broader understanding of the case. The result showed that there are indeed indicators demonstrating that operation EUNAVFOR Med could be considered a successful securitization of human smugglers. Also, in line with this operation, there are several indicators that shows how the EU has managed to pull a securitization move of migration, arguing that the migrants has formed an ‘uncontrolled problem’ for the EU.

Afterlives Of Hagia Sophia: The Change In The Official Attitudes Towards Preserving Antiquities In The Late Ottoman And Early Republican Periods

Keskin, Umran 01 September 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The history and ideology of preservation increasingly arouse interest in parallel with the rising importance of the cultural heritage and preserving it. Hagia Sophia is one of the monuments that comes to mind immediately when the cultural heritage of Turkey is mentioned. Both as a Byzantine and an Ottoman ecclesiastical and imperial monument, Hagia Sophia bears political and religious importance besides its artistic and architectural uniqueness, 1500 years after its construction. This study aims to expose the change in the official attitudes towards preserving antiquities in the transition period from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic, through examining the ideological and physical approaches to Hagia Sophia. In the Late Ottoman Period important leaps about two important components of cultural life, museology and archeology, were realized in terms of both preservation and exposition of the antiquities, besides the political, economical and judicial changes. Thus, the emergence of museological and archeological studies and related legislations in the Late Ottoman Empire Period and their development in the Early Republican Period are examined chronologically in this study. The reasons behind the changes in the usage of Hagia Sophia, from a church to a mosque and then to a museum, are researched in order to understand the ideology of the adaptive re-use and its results while evaluating the impact and meaning of the afterlives. The selected time period is very critical because the changes occurring in the social and political life of the country, together with the change of the ruling power, paved the way for the present situation in Turkey.
