There is nothing in history which can be classified as an isolated event with no bearing on the whole. The Warsaw Rising of 1944 may seem to be a remote episode in the history of Polish-Soviet relations but it has, in fact, many aspects, not the least of which is its context in the history of twentieth century world relationships. It would have been beyond the scope of this work to analyze all these aspects. I have only attempted to present the genesis of the Warsaw Rising in the Polish underground struggle against the Germans and in the Polish-Soviet relations during world War II of which it is also the climax and the last forceful expression of dissent. Nationalism, which we will attempt to define later, has been the stimulating force of European power-politics for the last century and a half; it is now in the process of sweeping the vast Asiatic continent, it has an exceedingly solid hold on the Latin republics in South and Central America, it has taken firm roots in the United States, it is being consciously and purposely developed and indoctrinated in Canada, it is not being forgotten in the Soviet Union - in short, it is still a dominant force throughout the world. Nationalism has played an important role in almost every war fought in the 19th and 20th centuries, it has found historical expression in the Treaty of Versailles, it is honoured by every wreath laid upon the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - whether be it in Paris, Washington, or Warsaw. This thesis has explored a number of concepts of Soviet business management, and trends of development from the theory of Marxism-Leninism to the practices of Stalin, Khrushchev and Kosygin.This thesis has examined numerous characteristics of Soviet business management in contrast to capitalistic business practices of the United States. In reference to the U.S.S.R., particular emphasis was given to reforms initiated after 1965.
