A maturity model of evaluating requirements specification techniques

Shin, Yonghee 15 November 2004 (has links)
It is important to evaluate and understand the state-of-art technologies to position our research and invest our energy and resources in more effective ways. Unfortunately, no systematic approach has been introduced to evaluate the maturity of technologies except a few models such as Redwine/Riddle's model (Redwine and Riddle, 1985), which does not contain a significant concept, "goals" of technologies. A new goal-oriented, technology maturity evaluation model has been proposed in this present study. The model aids to measure how a technology meets the goal of the technology along with a well-defined procedure. The model has applied to evaluate the maturity of the requirements specification technology as a case study. The results showed that this approach promoted effectiveness of measuring the technology maturity and understanding the state-of-art technology.

Using Job Analysis to Establish Job Description and Job Specification-J Company Is The Case Company

Hung, Fu-Mei 08 September 2008 (has links)
¡§Job Analysis¡¨ is the basic constitution of human resource management, and it is also a management activity in an organization. The main purpose is to collect, analyze, and integrate all kinds of information from the job and its correlation. ¡§Job analysis¡¨ also offers objective, sciential, and useful messages in order to organize projects and plans out human resource management and other administrative functions. Two kinds of reading reports that are ¡§Job description¡¨ and ¡§Job specification¡¨ can be the result of job analysis. ¡§Job description¡¨ is the standard description of jobs in human resource. ¡§Routine¡¨ is the main purpose of job description, for example, mission, duty, and responsibility, and etc., ¡§Job description¡¨ can provide overall details and deep-going description in order to set up the foundation in human resource or other administrative work. Besides, every employee and staff can comprehend the aim exactly that their organization wants to succeed. ¡§Job specification¡¨ is the foundation and definition of qualification in hiring employee and staff. Moreover, ¡§people¡¨ is the central point, for example, knowledge, technology, ability, job quality and etc., The main goal is to describe the standard qualification in each position. It can provide the basis in hiring, selecting, training, evaluation, and deploying. This research is to adopt observation, work diary, questionnaires, and interview in processing job analysis. It is an integrated method. The ¡¨Job Description¡¨ and the ¡§Job Specification¡¨ are the consequence of utilizing job analysis. Moreover, this research is to investigate the problems that the case companies will face. In addition, job analysis can provide the analysis of difference altogether. The conclusion is as following: 1.To establish ¡§Job Description¡¨ and ¡§Job Specification,¡¨ and to describe the details for each employee and staff. As a result, it has the standard requirement. Select different persons for different duties; recruit and utilize talented people; be well suited with one¡¦s place; get twofold results with half the effort. 2.To provide the forecast of human resource in case company, to know the work content exactly, and the qualification of talent. The purpose is to be prepared beforehand and supply the internal training for employee and staff in case the insufficient of external talent. 3.It is the foundation to have an efficient educational training, the job description and the job specification can provide the resource of educational training for case company in the future. 4.In the procedure of job analysis, it is obviously that employee and staff¡¦s level of quality are inadequate. Thus, the best way of improving quality is to modify the hiring standard rules and to train internal employee and staff at the same time. Work both ways can strengthen the competitive power of the organization. 5.In case company, the talent of middle managers are insufficient, and the manage talents are not enough. This shortcoming should be improved and let all employee and staff understand the importance of human resource management activity.

Reikalavimų specifikacijos pilnumo įvertinimo galimybių tyrimas / Research of the possibilities to evaluate the completeness of the requirement specification

Montrimaitė, Donata 17 January 2007 (has links)
ODRES (output driven requirements engineering)method, which is being developed in the department of information systems comprises the following stages: separating out the context, specification of function results, specification of data sources, specification of data source processing, modelling, automatic projectionof interface of information system and prototype. While creating requirement specification, there arises a need to evaluate the quality of it. In every stage of creating requirement specification an analyst does not know if he or she has got enough information in order to do produce a working prototype of the system. Therefore, in this study the problem of information system is analysed, namely, the problem of how to hallmark the quality of ISRS? How to measure this quality? What must the IS be, so that it is of good quality? While seeking to evaluate the quality of RS, it is necessary to understant and analyse what is quality on the whole, how it is defined, how it is measured and if it is possible to measure it at all. In this study methods which are used to measure the quality and the possibilities of CASE tools to evaluate specification quality are analyzed. In the research requirements to evaluate the RS quality have also been established and the experiment that realizes the RS quality evaluation has been done.

A Unified Approach to Adapting and Retrieving Formally Specified Components for Reuse

Hemer, David George Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis presents an approach to reusing components which alleviates some of the main problems encountered in component-based reuse; in particular modifying components to suit user's specific needs, and locating suitable components within a library. The focus of the thesis is on components described using a formal language (in other words components with a formal interface specification). The main reason for this is the concise and precise nature of formal languages, which can be exploited in developing more sophisticated methods and tools which take advantage of the semantics of the component. The solution is presented in two main stages: firstly a framework for adapting components is defined; secondly a framework for retrieving components based on matching component interfaces is defined. Both of these frameworks take advantage of the formal nature of the component interfaces, as a result more sophisticated tools can be developed. For generality it is proposed that formal languages used to represent interfaces are partitioned into three separate levels of granularity - expressions, units and modules - and solutions to adaptation and retrieval are developed separately at each level. An important consideration in developing these frameworks is to ensure that certain component properties are preserved when adapting and retrieving components. Having proposed these general frameworks, algorithms for adapting and retrieving components are defined in a more concrete and detailed sense within the CARE system. CARE was chosen because the language is relatively simple and compact, yet contains many of the features found in other formal languages, including: variables; functions; predicates; binders; application; typing; parameters; inputs and outputs (and their types); preconditions and postconditions; textual and formal parameters; separation of specification and implementation; case statements; modules; applicability conditions; encapsulation; and information hiding. These techniques for adapting and retrieving components have been prototyped as extensions to existing CARE tools. As a means of illustrating the value that these extensions have added to the overall CARE system, several example developments using the extended tools are presented at the end of the thesis. The approach to component reuse presented in this thesis represents a significant advance on other similar approaches. The approach given here is far more general than other approaches, particularly with respect to the scope of components and their interfaces that are considered. Also the adaptation framework goes beyond other approaches which have typically been restricted to parameter instantiation.

Estudo e proposta de metodologia para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de informática industrial para fábricas de celulose / Study and propose of a design methodology for industrial computer system in pulp industry

Albeche, Kelber de Souza January 1986 (has links)
This work deals with the development of industrial control system. First is present a survey on process control for pulp and paper industry in such a way to give a direction for the proposal. The main aspects of system are present and their impact in the economics of this industrial field. Secondly the methodology it self is presented. It departs from the formal description of the process and its characteristics as the base for the process control system.
