Maintien de l'intégrité de robots mobiles en milieux naturels / Preserving the Integrity of Mobile Robots in off-road conditions

Braconnier, Jean-Baptiste 22 January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focused on the issue of the preseving of the integrity of mobile robots in off-road conditions. The objective is to provide control laws to guarantee the integrity of a vehicle during autonomous displacements in natural environments at high speed (5 to 7 m.s -1 ) and more particularly in The framework of precision farming. Integrity is here understood in the broad sense. Indeed, control of the movements of a mobile robot can generate orders that affect its physical integrity, or restrains the achievement of its task (rollover, spin, control stability, maintaining accuracy , etc.). Moreover, displacement in natural environments leads to problems linked in particular to relatively variable and relatively low adhesion conditions (especially since the speed of the vehicle is high), which results in strong sliding of wheels on the ground, or to ground geometries that can not be crossed by the robot. This thesis aims to determine in real time the stability space in terms of permissible controls allowing to moderate the actions of the robot. After a presentation of the existing modelings and observers that allow the use of these modelizations for the implementation of predictive control law for trajectory tracking, a new method of estimation of side-slip angles based on a kinematic observation is proposed. It permit to address the problem of variable speed of the vehicle (and in particular the case of zero values) and also to allow the observation during a displacement without reference trajectory. This new observer is essential for the further development of this thesis, since the rest of the work is concerned with the modulation of the speed of the vehicle. So, in the further work, two predictive control laws acting on the speed of the vehicle have been set up. The first one provides a solution to the problem of the saturation of steering actuators, when the speed or side-slip angles make the trajectory inadmissible to follow with respect to the physical capacities of the vehicle. The second one adress the problem of guaranteeing the accuracy of trajectory tracking (keeping the vehicle in a corridor of displacement). In both cases, the control strategy is similar: the future state of the vehicle is predicted according to the current conditions of evolution and the simulated one for the future evolution (obtained by simulating the evolution of dynamics models of the vehicle) in order to determine the value of the optimum speed so that the target variables (in one case the value of the steering and in the other the lateral deviation from the trajectory) comply with the imposed conditions (not exceeding a target value). The results presented in this thesis were realized either in simulations or in real conditions on robotic platforms. It follows that the proposed algorithms make it possible : in one case to reduce the speed of the vehicle in order to avoid the saturation of the steering actuator and therefore the resulting over and under steering phenomena and thus make it possible to preserve the vehicle’s controllability. And in the other case, to ensure that the lateral deviation from the trajectory remains below a target value.

Análise de desempenho de diferentes leis de controle de vibrações torcionais em colunas de perfuração de poços de petróleo / Performance analysis of different control laws for torsional vibrations in oil wells drillstrings

Hugo Leonardo Salomão Monteiro 09 April 2012 (has links)
The stick-slip phenomenon, in the process of drilling oil wells, due to the interaction between drill and rock formation can lead to large fluctuations in drill-bit angular velocity and, thus, cause irreparable damage to the process. In this work, the performance of control laws applied to the rotary table (responsible for moving the drill string) is analyzed, in order to reduce stick-slip and drill-bit angular velocity oscillations. The control laws implemented are based on a PI (Proportional-Integral) controller, for which the torque applied to the rotating table has components proportional and integral to table angular velocity with constant or variable WOB (Weight On Bit). For the drillstring, a finite element model with a linear interpolation was proposed. The torque on the drill-bit was modeled by a non-regularized Coulomb friction model, with parameters that were adjusted using empirical data proposed in literature. Several performance criteria were analyzed and it was observed that the minimization of the mean deviation of the drill-bit angular velocity relative to the target one would provide the best operating condition. Parametric analyses of proportional and integral control gains were performed, yielding level curves for the mean deviation of drill-bit angular velocity. From these curves, stability regions were defined in which the deviation is acceptable. These regions were observed to be wider for smaller values of WOB and higher values of target angular velocity and vice-versa. The inclusion of a controlled dynamic WOB reduced the levels of mean deviation of angular velocity, leading to improved stability regions for the drilling process.

Realizace inverzního kyvadla typu Cubli / Inverted pendulum realization based on Cubli

Ježek, Michal January 2019 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the development and construction of the inverted pendulum, inspired by the Cubli project. The objective is to develop and design an inverted pendulum, in the shape of one side of the cube balancing at one of its corner and for balancing is used the flywheel. For its design 3D printing is used to the maximum extent and as the electronic parts commonly available components at an affordable price are used. The design of the construction and the components allow the construction of a complete cube, without the need of further development or fundamental changes in the design of the model. For the calculations and the design of the controller the Matlab / Simulink software was used. As the controller algorithm the LQR algorithm is used with added integral feedback, to minimize control error. The 3D models of the single parts are created with FreeCAD software and printed on a 3D Prusa i3 MK2S printer.

Schützhold, Jörg 29 June 2016 (has links)

Full Automation of Air Traffic Management in High Complexity Airspace

Ehrmanntraut, Rüdiger 29 March 2010 (has links)
The thesis is that automation of en-route Air Traffic Management in high complexity airspace can be achieved with a combination of automated tactic planning in a look-ahead time horizon of up to two hours complemented with automated tactic conflict resolution functions. The literature review reveals that no significant results have yet been obtained and that full automation could be approached with a complementary integration of automated tactic resolutions AND planning. The focus shifts to ‘planning for capacity’ and ‘planning for resolution’ and also – but not only – for ‘resolution’. The work encompasses a theoretical part on planning, and several small scale studies of empirical, mathematical or simulated nature. The theoretical part of the thesis on planning under uncertainties attempts to conceive a theoretical model which abstracts specificities of planning in Air Traffic Management into a generic planning model. The resulting abstract model treats entities like the planner, the strategy, the plan and the actions, always considering the impact of uncertainties. The work innovates in specifying many links from the theory to the application in planning of air traffic management, and especially the new fields of tactical capacity management. The second main part of the thesis comprises smaller self-containing works on different aspects of the concept grouped into a section on complexity, another on tactic planning actions, and the last on planners. The produced studies are about empirical measures of conflicts and conflict densities to get a better understanding of the complexity of air traffic; studies on traffic organisation using tactical manoeuvres like speed control, lateral offset and tactical direct using fast time simulation; and studies on airspace design like sector optimisation, dynamic sectorisation and its optimisation using optimisation techniques. In conclusion it is believed that this work will contribute to further automation attempts especially by its innovative focus which is on planning, base on a theory of planning, and its findings already influence newer developments.

Experimental Transient Behaviour Characterisation of Induction Motor fed by Variable Frequency Drives for Pump Applications / Experimentell analys av transienter i omriktarmatad asynkronmotor för pumpar

Halilovic, Amer January 2014 (has links)
The use of variable frequency drives in centrifugal pump applications has raised the question of how to select a drive. Clogging obstacles in waste water applications create unknown transient loads for the pump system. A sudden load increase occurrence can clog the pump if the drive cannot supply enough current to reach the motor’s torque demand. In order to select a suitable drive, an empirical approach has been implemented, investigating three different drives. Results have shown that selecting a drive with the highest possible overload capabilities, even if for a short time is most suitable. Operation in vector speed control gives the most reliable operation if an automatic parameter tuning is performed by the drive.

Sensorless Control of Synchronous Machines in Python Using Signal Injection : An implementation of a High-Frequency Square-Wave Injection Algorithm on a Linear and Non-Linear Synchronous Machine Model in open-source Software Motulator

Lundberg, Simon January 2022 (has links)
The importance of accurately controlling the speed and torque of Synchronous Machines (SMs) in industry, transportation, aerospace, to name a few, can not be overstated. The driving unit to control the machines are called Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and they can be designed in many different ways. In this project, a speed sensorless drive using high-frequency square-wave voltage injection is implemented in a open-source Python software called Motulator, developed by Prof. Marko Hinkkanen at Aalto University. The drive is first tested on an already existing linear model of a Permament Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM). An equivalent model is built in Matlab/Simulink to benchmark the performance of the implementation in Python. The results suggest that the performance Motulator implementation is satisfactory when compared to the Simulink implementation. Next, a non-linear Synchronous Reluctance Machine (SynRM) is implemented, using data from Finite Element (FEM) simulations of the non-linear flux-current relation. By using the injection scheme (with some tweaks), the speed of the motor is accurately controlled, but a steady-state position error is observed at all operating points. The error is produced due to the cross-saturation effect and a compensation strategy is implemented in an attempt to remove this error. however without full success.
