Shah, Syed Fawad Ali January 2010 (has links)
The Intelligent Algorithm is designed for theusing a Battery source. The main function is to automate the Hybrid System through anintelligent Algorithm so that it takes the decision according to the environmental conditionsfor utilizing the Photovoltaic/Solar Energy and in the absence of this, Fuel Cell energy isused. To enhance the performance of the Fuel Cell and Photovoltaic Cell we used batterybank which acts like a buffer and supply the current continuous to the load. To develop the main System whlogic based controller was used. Fuzzy Logic based controller used to develop this system, because they are chosen to be feasible for both controlling the decision process and predictingthe availability of the available energy on the basis of current Photovoltaic and Battery conditions. The Intelligent Algorithm is designed to optimize the performance of the system and to selectthe best available energy source(s) in regard of the input parameters. The enhance function of these Intelligent Controller is to predict the use of available energy resources and turn on thatparticular source for efficient energy utilization. A fuzzy controller was chosen to take thedecisions for the efficient energy utilization from the given resources. The fuzzy logic basedcontroller is designed in the Matlab-Simulink environment. Initially, the fuzzy based ruleswere built. Then MATLAB based simulation system was designed and implemented. Thenthis whole proposed model is simulated and tested for the accuracy of design and performanceof the system.

Seamless speaker recognition

Chatzaras, Anargyros, Savvidis, Georgios January 2015 (has links)
In a technologically advanced society, the average person manages dozens of accounts for e-mail, social networks, e-banking, and other electronic services. As the number of these accounts increases, the need for automatic user identification becomes more essential. Biometrics have long been used to identify people and are the most common (if not the only) method to achieve this task. Over the past few years, smartphones have become frequently used gadgets.  These devices have built-in microphones and are commonly used by a single user or a small set of users, such as a couple or a family. This thesis uses a smartphone’s microphone to capture user’s speech and identify him/her. Existing speaker recognition systems typically prompt the user to provide long voice samples in order to provide accurate results. This results in a poor user experience and discourages users who do not have the patience to go through such a process.  The main idea behind the speaker recognition approach presented in this thesis is to provide a seamless user experience where the recording of the user’s voice takes place in the background. An Android application is developed which silently collects voices samples and performs speaker recognition without requiring extensive user interaction.  Two variants of the proposed tool have been developed and are described in depth in this thesis. The open source framework Recognito is used to perform the speaker recognition task. The analysis of Recognito showed that it is not capable of achieving high accuracy especially when the voice samples contain background noise. Finally, the comparison between the two architectures showed that they do not differ significantly in terms of performance.

Contribution au Dimensionnement et à la Commande d’un Générateur de type Cascade de Machines Asynchrones à Double Alimentation / Contribution to the Sizing and Control of the Cascaded Doubly Fed Induction Generator

El achkar, Maria 12 December 2016 (has links)
This thesis is a contribution to the power sizing and the control of a Cascaded Doubly Fed Induction Generator (CDFIG). The machine model for simulation is based on a modular representation, derived from the Park model of two distinct Doubly Fed Induction Machines expressed in their own reference frames. The dynamic model of the cascaded machine is then extended to be described in a unified reference frame. This representation is convenient for the sizing of the machine and for the design of the controller. The steady state power operating margins of the cascaded machine are investigated. A generic analytic method is suggested to derive the active-reactive power domain. The limit curves are defined in terms of the rated quantities of the machine. The study takes into account the magnetic circuit saturation effect. It is proven that the power capability of the machine is determined by the stator current maximum values and is subject to several limitations. The analytical approach is tested and validated by experimental measurements. The CDFIG is controlled in grid-connected and standalone operation modes. In grid-connected application, the attention is paid to high power wind generation systems. A new maximum power tracking of a variable speed wind turbine is suggested. The generating plant is carried to provide a quasi-constant maximum power regardless wind fluctuations. In addition to active power optimization the power factor is adjusted according to the grid code requirements and the operating domain of the integrated unit. A virtual flux oriented vector control is applied for the decoupled regulation of active and reactive powers, leading to grid voltage sensorless operation. In standalone operating mode, the study treats in particular the embedded aircraft power system generation. Two distribution networks are considered: constant frequency AC network and DC network. In both cases, the control aims to maintain a constant output voltage. The operation of the CDFIG supplying unbalanced three-phase load is further explored. Control schemes to cope with unbalanced stator voltage conditions are developed. Two compensation methods are elaborated: the first dealing with dual rotating frames and the second is based on repetitive controller. Simulations with Matlab/Simulink software and experiments validate the control approaches.
