Výživa v dětství ve vztahu k utváření sociálních rolí a zdravotnímu stavu velkomoravské populace / Childhood diet in relation to the determination of social roles and health status in Great Moravian population

Jílková, Michaela January 2017 (has links)
This study is focused on dietary reconstruction according to stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen in bone and tooth collagen. The material used for this study is represented by set of 46 skeletons of adult individuals from 6th church's burial site in Mikulčice, which belong to the Great Moravian era (9th -10th century). Isotopic values are discussed in relation to the formation of social roles and health status. The presence and eventually degree of severity of some non-specific stress indicators and pathologies (Cribra orbitalia, presence of tooth caries, caries intensity, linear enamel hypoplasias, dental wear and length od femur) was observed. The results of isotopic analysis suggest, that diet in this population sample was based on terrestrial sources, both animal and plant protein. Plants in Great Moravian diet belonged to C3 and C4 group. C4 group of plants in Mikulčice was represented by millet (Panicum miliaceum), which supports the hypothesis of "Millet - typical crop of old Slavs" (Reitsema and Kozlowski, 2013). Millet was consumed mainly in childhood. Significant differences between diets of high social class and rest of population was found with people of higher social rank consuming more animal protein. These differences were created in childhood and persisted to adulthood....

Spontánní dobrovolníci a jejich role v dynamickém humanitárním systému / The role of spontaneous volunteers in the dynamic humanitarian system

Smejkal, Richard January 2018 (has links)
Increasingly, we hear that the humanitarian system has exhausted its potential and is over the abyss. The volume of funds, the number of humanitarian organizations and the number of rescued people are growing year after year. Nevertheless, the gap between needs and real humanitarian assistance is steadily increasing. Traditional humanitarian actors have been unsuccessfully looking for ways to repair the system that once worked well. Attempts at financial and institutional reform fail, and the debate on humanitarian principles annoys the main actors. This work shows that the traditional humanitarian system is only a part of the larger ecosystem of humanitarian assistance, and analyzes the external influences it fails to cope with in the last decade, and why minor repairs and corrections are not enough and a new system architecture is needed. The author identifies new humanitarian actors with whom the traditional system does not count and points to spontaneous volunteers as a group with dynamic potential and ability to create a parallel system to professional disaster and emergency managers. Since it is an undervalued and overlooked actor, the author refines the definition of spontaneous volunteering. Using the case studies of the Cajun Navy in Louisiana (U.S.) and the confessions of medical rescuers...

Normalita výjimečnosti? (Z)vládnutí krize v reformě azylové a migrační politiky Evropské unie / Normality of the exception? Crisis Governance in reforming the Asylum and Migration Policy of the European Union

Kaleta, Ondřej January 2019 (has links)
This doctoral thesis examines the issue of crisis governance of the European Union in the context of migration developments after 2015. The author investigates how relevant EU institutions (European Commission, Council of the EU, and European Council) construct exceptionality within the common asylum and migration policy and what might be its impacts on the functionality of this policy. Theoretically, the research is based on the concept of "state of exception" originally introduced in the works of Carl Schmitt and Giorgio Agamben. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze and interpret the extraordinary migration measures from 2015 to 2018, which were proposed and implemented by the EU political actors to address the migration situation. The institutional level is further broadened and contextualized by including three EU Member State governments - Hungary, Austria, and Germany - and their involvement in the interactive shaping of emergency policies. The author studies how the exception is constructed in the EU official discourse, the relationship between exception and normality, and the exercise of power to create a state of exception at supranational/intergovernmental level of the EU as an international organization. The thesis approaches the topic using critical discourse analysis. It...

Vliv bariatrického výkonu na fyzický a psychický stav pacienta / Influence of bariatric surgery on the physical and mental state of the patient

Fořtová, Tereza January 2020 (has links)
1) INTRODUCTION: Obesity is a global problem and its the prevalence is constantly rising. Overweight and obesity are key risk factors for many diseases. Obese patients are a greater economic burden for the state, they often rely on the help of others. The goal of obesity treatment is to reduce weight and then keep it within the recommended range. In an obese patient, it is not always just about the actual weight loss, but also about treating the associated diseases caused by obesity. Bariatric surgery allows patients to lose weight in a relatively short period of time and has a very positive effect on associated diseases. 2) OBJECTIVE: The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the physical and mental condition before and after gastric bypass and to determine whether this surgery has a positive or negative effect on the physical and mental condition of the patient. The objective was further divided into sub-goals and hypotheses. 3) METHODOLOGY: The research was carried out using a quantitative method. This is an observational study, in which the mental and physical condition and advancement of patients who were about to undergo bariatric surgery - gastric bypass - were monitored for 6 months. Mental status was monitored using four standardized questionnaires: MAF, HADS, iADL, SF-36 in four time...

Ohrožená sídla v periferních oblastech Česka / Threatened villages in marginal regions in Czechia

Taitl, Lukáš January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis is generally devoted to the endogenous potential of the development of the smallest settlements of the selected part of the inner periphery in Czechia. This internal potential is created by the socio-economic and socio-cultural status of the settlement. At a time when the rural development paradigm, ie the top-down approach and the principle of local governance, prevails according to OECD, it seems that the socio-cultural part of the endogenous potential of the settlement is probably the key one. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the possibilities of local actors, especially permanent residents and subjects of the second housing, in influencing the overall state of the given settlement - socio-economic part of the internal potential of the settlement. In the practical part, it analyzes the internal potential of selected settlements, statistically tests the relationship between these factors and looks for probable reasons for different potential. The relationship between the internal factors of development was confirmed and the socio-cultural nature was identified as a key aspect of potential success. The thesis does not aim to predict the exact future of these settlements, but it realistically reflects their internal potential and thus presents their likely direction...

Vliv bariatrického výkonu na fyzický a psychický stav pacienta / Influence of bariatric surgery on the physical and mental condition of the patient

Fořtová, Tereza January 2021 (has links)
INTRODUCTION TO THE ISSUE: Obesity together with possible occurrence of many difficulties carries with it negative effect on physical and mental health. Many patients with severe obesity (class 3) cannot do physical activities or usual daily activities. These patients suffer from feelings of inferiority, decreased self-esteem and other mental issues. It could be classified as a vicious cycle for patients, but the bariatric surgery offers a way out. A gastric bypass is one of the bariatric procedures which is very helpful to reduce the weight of the patients who belongs into class 3 obesity. OBJECTIVES, METHODOLOGY: The main goal of this study was to find out if applying the gastric bypass to patients has positive or negative effect for their obesity level, quality of life, physical and mental state. The research sample was consisted of patients who were about to undergo gastric bypass. The patient's weight, BMI and body fat ratio were monitored to obtain data related to the assessment of the severity of obesity. The quality of life was evaluated using the SF-36 questionnaire (Short form 36). The standardized MAF (Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue Scale) was used to review of patient's fatigue. The mental state of patients was subjectively assessed using the standardized HADS scale (Hospital...

Politický nepotismus / Political Nepotism

Šebek, Jiří January 2015 (has links)
There is circumstantial and scientific evidence of nepotism in Europe and USA, and among politicians, judges and other elites. Despite this, an access to positions of power in a liberal democracy is restricted in the sense that occupational following in the offices is subject to public scrutiny. There is a conflict between a personal obligation to promote one's kin and a public obligation to promote liberty. This public duty emerges from a duty to allow access to offices of power to those who have the misfortune of not being born as dynastic followers. It is based on John Rawls's original position which is a thought experiment establishing an impartial environment to detect chief principles adjudicating conflicts of moral doctrines, fairly. In it, the condition of impartiality is achieved by means which are found in this dissertation to be excessive. Its blanked ban on biases immolates even those biases which contribute to fairness, despite their partiality. When nepotism is partly considered an expression of altruism, it shows a capacity to increase cohesion, impede free-driving and improve economy. In order to preserve these virtues, an improved condition of impartiality is offered to enhance Rawls's theory and to classify instances of nepotism according to their effects on improving or hampering...
