Web crippling of hot-rolled beams at stiffened-seat connections

Bryant, Cameron L. 05 December 2009 (has links)
The current end web crippling design equations are based on a collapse mechanism developed for interior web crippling of short-span plate girders. Yield-line theory and the mechanism solution were used to derive an expression for the web crippling capacity of a plate girder subjected to an interior patch load. The general form of this equation was then calibrated using available data to obtain an equation for end web crippling as well. This study examines the origin of the equation and identifies inconsistencies, which result from using the same assumptions for both types of web crippling. A new collapse mechanism, based on modified assumptions, is used to derive a new equation that applies specifically to end web crippling of hot-rolled sections. In addition, three full-scale tests were conducted on steel-concrete composite beams to verify the accuracy of the proposed equation. Finally, the current web crippling equations and the proposed equation are compared for all available end web crippling data, and conclusions and recommendations are made concerning the validity of the proposed end web crippling equation. / Master of Science

Diretrizes para o planejamento e controle da produção em obras de sistemas construtivos metálicos

Fabro, Fabiana January 2012 (has links)
In the construction sector, there has been an increase on the use of industrialized building systems, including steel construction systems, due to the contribution of those systems in terms of reducing the duration of projects, and reduction of waste. This change has created opportunities for the application of production management concepts and methods that have been originated in other industries, such as the Lean Production Philosophy, which has brought several benefits for the construction sector, such as waste reduction, increase in productivity and reliability in delivery time. However, there have been only a few research studies on the application of Lean Production concepts on the production planning and control process of companies involved in the delivery of steel construction systems. The aim of this research work is to propose guidelines for the conception and implementation of production planning and control systems for projects delivered by companies that design, manufacture and assemble steel construction systems. Moreover, some adaptations in the Last Planner Systems are proposed for the context of assembling this type of system. Action research was the research strategy adopted in this investigation, which involved the development of five empirical studies in projects carried out by a Brazilian leading company. This investigation started by carrying out an analysis of the material and information flows among the main departments of the company, as well as by assessing the existing planning and control process for site assembly. Then, a set of improvements in that process were devised and implemented in three construction sites of the company. The main results of this research work are concerned with extending the scope of production system design, adapting the medium and short-term planning levels of the Last Planner System to this context, and integrating the planning and control process for site assembly with upstream processes. Moreover, different types of planning and control systems were proposed for different types of projects, according to their complexity and size.

Design And Production Of Steel Buildings: A Case Study In Ankara

Besgul, Ozge 01 November 2006 (has links) (PDF)
It is vital that Turkey keep abreast of developments in the world and build up its technology to become a developed country. Steel construction is one of these areas. In this context, the main purpose of this study was to define, analyze and evaluate the general characteristics of structural steel and steel construction with the purpose of throwing new light on its advantages and disadvantages. Within this framework, a literature survey was conducted on structural steel components and structures / and on steel construction in Turkey. Additionally, a case study was carried out on a steel office building in Ankara. In this, the T&uuml / rkiye Esnaf ve Sanatkar Kredi Kefalet Kooperatifleri Merkez Birligi (TESKOMB) Building was investigated in terms of the design and production criteria for steel structures and to determine problems faced during these processes. As a result of this study, the existing condition of the construction sector and the means to improve use of structural steel in Turkey were discussed more realistically.

Autosalon v Jihlavě / Autosalon in Jihlava

Mátlová, Michaela January 2020 (has links)
The aim of my thesis was to propose two variants of the steel construction of the car showroom. The ground dimensions of the structure are 35 x 50 meters. The building reaches a height of 8.8 m above the surrounding terrain. The building consists of two parts. The exhibition part of the car showroom will be partially glazed and also includes office space. The second part is the adjacent car workshop. The variants differ in the construction of the enclosure of the exhibition part of the car showroom. The work includes two static designs of the supporting steel structure of the car showroom. The winning variant of the frame construction a solution of selected details and drawing documentation.

Administrativní budova / Office building

Závacká, Petra January 2013 (has links)
The final product of my thesis is a design of a bearing steel construction with conjugated concrete-steel elements horizontally attached to an administrative building. The thesis contains a desing of an administrative building with a parking garage which are connected. The administrative building has 8 floors and the parking garage with the connecting part has 4 floors. The height of the floor in all objects is 3,5m in 1.NP. From 2.NP up each floor has a height of 3m. The administrative building has a rectangular shape with dimensions of 36 x 48 m. The parking garage is of similar shape with dimensions of 30 x 54 m. Both buidlings are joined in an angle of 33 deg. The height of the administrative building above ground is 26, 475m. The height of the parking garage above the ground with the connecting part is 12,795m. The structure is made up of articulated beams stored in the column. Composite cross section is stored on girder hinge. The design of both objects is stiffened by vertical wall braces the transverse and longitudinal directions. Roofs are a mixture of objects for a specified period. The office building is located atrium measuring 12 x 24m. Atrium roofing is made by steel structure with glass panes. Cladding will consist of building glass facade.
