The majority of studies on European integration focus on the implementation of EU policies and regulations at the national or regional levels or on the influence of national and regional institutions in ED policy-making (Anderson, 1990; Tranholm-Mikkelsen, 1991; Geyer, 1996; Moravcsik, 1993; Marks, 1996; Majone, 1997). A smaller number of studies report on a series of changes appearing at local government level and connect them with a changing environment at the ED level and with the increasing importance of the EU funding programmes (Martin and Pearce, 1993: Goldsmith, 1993; John, 1996: Sutcliffe. 1997). However, the use of a top-down perspective has limited the findings of the previous research. The main objective of this thesis is to expand the knowledge on the phenomenon of ED funding within local governments, adopting a bottom-up approach, where changes appeared at the local government level, which were not included in EU directives, regulations and policy proposals, but represented a consequence of a changing order at the European arena. The research question asked in the study is: "Why do some local governments succeed and others fail in applying for EU funds?" Little empirical research has been conducted in order to understand the ED funding procedures followed by local government organisations, and how those procedures affected the organisations themselves and their employees. The study's objective is to build a theory exploring the process of competing for new types of funding within local government organisations. A theoretical framework is proposed at the beginning of the study which connects the phenomenon of EU funding with the presence of three important constructs: Europeanisation, networking and entrepreneurship. These constructs were explicitly measured in the interview protocol. From the analysis of the data, the constructs emerged as related to the success in ED funding within local governments through a causal relationship.

The master‘s paper provides the analysis of Lithuanian and foreign scientific literature on the knowledge economics development opportunities in Lithuania while using EU structural funds. Here are analysed theoretical knowledge economics development trends, presumptions of creation, help of EU structural funds to develop Lithuanian knowledge economics. Taking into account Common Program Document of Lithuania and the structure of Lithuanian EU structural funds here was evaluated an opportunity to develop Lithuanian knowledge economics. On May 4th, 2006 the author took part in the 6th conference for Junior Researchers “Urgent Issues of Economics and Management” organized by Šiauliai University, Faculty of Social Sciences, and read the article: “The Possibility of Knowledge Economics in Lithuania by EU Structural Funds”.

This diploma paper is focused on financing issues in microregion Sdružení Růže connected with national and European funds. The paper is divided into two parts - first, theoretical, embracing particularly profiles of selected subsidies and introduction to rural development. The second, practical part, contains SWOT analysis of microregion Sdružení Růže featuring weaknesses and risks restraining the successful development. Furthermore, practical part presents research data of subsidies utilization until the year 2009. Several possibilities of additional funding results from this output.

Diploma thesis analyzes the implementation system of EU Cohesion Policy in the Czech Republic. Based on the analysis of the implementation system are described the most crucial factors influencing the (un)successful implementation of EU structural funds in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to create an implementation based on an analysis model for the programming period 2014-2020.

During the first decade of its membership in the EU, the Czech Republic received through the EU Cohesion Policy valuable financial resources to reduce regional disparities and catch up with the economic level of the more advanced EU member states. Now, after ten years of membership in this integration group, it is time to evaluate and analyze the implementation structure of the Structural Funds in the Czech Republic, but also the impact of this instrument on the economy of our country. Preparation of the company project for financing by help of Structural funds EU One of a few centrally administrated possibilities of how to help a domestic company stand very tough fight on the market is to make use of financial resources provided by EU budget as a help in development of the entering members. These are variant sources that can be obtained despite the very complicated system of administration and that can be used to replace (or to replenish) primary financing e.g. loans or one’s own resources. Within the framework of published appeals for bringing forward the projects, conditions related to supplying these financial means and according to the purpose of these supporting programmes there are several possibilities of financing of our company. This thesis concerns the financial preparation of a project of a small company based on EU structural funds and their proclaimed appeals of Ministry of Industry and Trade. A detailed analysis of the company’s situation as a general base for entrepreneurial projects is accomplished. This analysis is followed by the project appropriate for the application to the administrator.
