Organizational-Public Relations| A Cultural Measure of International PublicsWest, Chasah E. 27 August 2015 (has links)
<p>This thesis aims to measure the dimensions that comprise a relationship between an organization and its public (Organization-Public Relationship) across cultures in order to ascertain which of the dimensions are valued most in those various cultures. Through a historical look at public relations literature, the relatively new theory of Organization-Public Relations is traced, explained, and then applied. O-PR dimensions considered for study are trust, control mutuality, relationship commitment, relationship satisfaction, and face and favor. The study undertaken will be exploratory in nature; the survey will be distributed to international college students currently attending American universities, 18-25 and analyzed using one-way ANOVA to provide a comparison. While many culture-specific models of public relations exist, this study does not attempt to build a new model, but to measure cultures across an existing one. The expected outcomes will provide insight into building and measuring effective cross-cultural, and multi-cultural public relations campaigns, as well as allow for a further validation and understanding of international application of the Organization-Public Relationship Assessment (OPRA): a cross-cultural, multiple-item scale for measuring organization?public relationships developed by Huang (2001). Data will also be collected, analyzed, and compared on perception of likelihood of relationship dimensions affecting word-of-mouth advertising from students

Choice and inevitability in modelling an organization's future : how management, depending on the company's organizational context, can shape an organization's future with the use of choice and/or the reliance on determinismTumidei, Daniele January 2016 (has links)
The literature presents us with two distinct, and at times opposed, approaches to strategic management: the use of strategic choice and determinism. This research shows that these approaches can actually be considered as two distinct variables, which create a space or framework in which it is possible to identify, according to the available different amounts of strategic choice and determinism, the four different ontological perspectives of determinism, hard incompatibilism, libertarianism and compatibilism. According to the literature, within each ontological perspective of the strategic choice/determinism framework, companies use different levels of strategic choice and determinism to produce organizational outcomes. This research provides empirical evidence of the real life existence of these ontological perspectives, in which companies’ performance of revenues is driven by a different amount of strategic choice or determinism according to the perspectives in which companies operate. This research also shows that other important performance indicators, such as EBITDA, depend only on deterministic variables, while ROA depends neither on strategic choice nor on deterministic variables. These findings suggest that future research could increase our knowledge on the internal environment of companies, as it could do from the hard incompatibilist perspective, which was not possible to study thoroughly within this research. The research conclusions provide several contributions to both academic knowledge and practice.

Previous issue date: 2015-08-24 / This essay aims to examine the prevailing organizational dimensions in multicampus
model of the Federal University of Pampa and its 10 campuses demonstrating that the The
dissertation aims to analyze the prevailing organizational dimensions in multicampi model
of the Federal University of Pampa and its 10 campuses, where the differentiating element
of physical and territorial dispersion is articulated in shaping organizational dimensions of
this model, unlike located in a single County. To scope of the proposal, a qualitative
research was conducted by studying integrated single case, whose purpose was the
multicampi model of university organization. The analysis was organizational level; the
data collected techniques guided in the literature; official documents and statistical data.
For data analysis, we used the documentary analysis and interpretation model, combining
theoretical propositions with guiding questions of the study. They set up criteria guided the
conceptual theoretical basis and weighted with similar research studies. In the analysis of
the work breakdown structure, it stood out as characteristic of the studied model,
structuring the university, and the campus as the operating core of the organization,
different from the traditional model, structured in academic units. In the aspect of the
organizational complexity of multicampi model analyzed by the campus number,
UNIPAMPA is among the most complex in the country, consisting of 10 campuses, while
the average of federal universities is up to 05 campuses. The spatial dispersion
characteristic is present, with significant distances between campuses and the rectory; 142
to 448 km. The vertical differentiation of the structure through the university hierarchy
indicated by the composition of the dome positions: rector, vice rector, pro-rectors and
directors campuses, and academic and administrative coordinators campus. The
differentiation of the horizontal structure, there standardization for all UNIPAMPA
campuses. The integration mechanisms acting to conform the organic character of
multicampi model proved to be fragile. Decentralization of power in top decision-making
bodies is characterized by the representation of college campuses, not academic units, as
traditional models. It was found that there are organizational dimensions of multicampi
model that distinguish it from traditional models, still behind features of structured models
as indications of the 1968 university reform, evidence of the need for further study of the
predominant model and little explored in studies of Brazilian university administration .

The Pièce de Résistance of Leadership Networks : A study of network member attitudesOttosson, Fabian, Albertsson Engman, Linus January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to clarify and document the member perspective of leadership networks in terms of how members’ attitudes toward, and underlying reasons for participating in, leadership networks can be explained. This purpose was fulfilled by asking and answering the questions of how member attitudes toward, and underlying reasons for participating in, leadership networks can be explained. The study was conducted via a pre-research study of one network organization as well as interviews with two other network organizations. In total, the study investigated three network organizations, including 19 respondents, 13 for the survey and six for the interviews. It was concluded in both the pre-research as well as the main research, that expectations from the members’ perspective had a tendency toward organizational outcomes in the pre-consumption phase, and that the expectations on the network were mainly focused on individual outcomes in the post-consumption phase. The study also demonstrates that there are factors outside of the study’s analytical framework, such as the network position, the ego network structure and the whole network structure, that affect the network outcomes, and thus potentially the explanation for the members’ attitudes toward, and underlying reasons for participating in, leadership networks.
