Factors that influence prepaid churn subscribers when choosing a mobile-service providerMankum, Ethesen 15 July 2012 (has links)
High prepaid subscriber churn impacts on the service provider's profitability, financial evaluation and resource utilisation. Simultaneously it deprives subscribers of improved service because service providers are committing resources to subscriber acquisition and the management of subscriber retention instead of committing these resources to improving the value propositions offered to subscribers. A prepaid churn rate of just less than 50% in South Africa (2009) highlights the need for research into the factors that influence churned prepaid subscribers' choice of mobile-service provider. This in turn will increase the knowledge of retention and acquisition of prepaid subscribers. Using a telephonic survey on a sample of 861 prepaid subscribers, quantitative research was conducted to determine those factors that churned prepaid subscribers consider important when choosing a mobile-service provider. By making use of Analysis of Variance 4 out of 11 factors that, prepaid subscribers considered very important were identified when choosing a mobile-service provider. These included, in order of importance, Customer service quality, Mobile tariffs, Prepaid airtime and Starter-pack availability and Promotions. Discriminant Analysis highlighted 9 factors to be used to predict and classify groups of subscribers based on average monthly spend. The discriminate equation coefficients highlighted how these two groups of subscribers view the 9 factors when choosing a mobile-service provider. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

Badges, Bits, and Bots : Exploring the effect of chat badges on Twitch interactionsDenaityte, Valerija January 2020 (has links)
This study aims to observe and understand what effect influence-earned and appointed badges have during Twitch streams and their interactions. Twitch is the most popular live streaming platform online and draws in a large number of content creators, with its primary draw being video game live streams. During video game live streams, streamers play a game and interact with viewers, of which there are different types depending on monetary contribution and status given by the broadcaster. Using ethnographic observation, two weeks’ worth of streams on a medium sized channel were viewed and later analysed with thematic structure, focusing on streamer-audience, viewer-subscriber, and the place of moderators and VIPs. The results show that while badges can delineate who is a regular viewer and who is not, beyond this they show little significance towards the positions of different audience members. Moderators and VIPs are shown to have more sense of regularity and more power over or exemption from chat limits. Additionally, those contributing monetarily are shown to get extra appreciation via on-screen alerts and triggered audio segments, making the streamer aware of their contribution. In chat, this earns them an additional badge, showing their level of contribution to the stream. This did, beyond recognition on stream, not show a longitudinal affect towards people who contributed monetarily. Overall, badges thus did not hold significant power, but observations raised more questions that inspire future research.

民眾對有線電視及其地方新聞需求之研究 / The Research of Cable Subscriberships and Needs of Local News藍宜楨, Lan, Yi Jen Unknown Date (has links)

The purpose of this research work is to analyze the increase in Netflix subscribers with respect to the competition from 2010 to so far in 2020. We have determined that the approach will be predictive so that the organization in charge can make use of the supervised model in the way that best suits them and they can make the best strategic decisions. For this, a database compiled from various reliable public sources has been generated to obtain the variables: "number of subscribers", "cost of original content", "covid-19" ... and after that, with all the data acquired Each stage of the data science methodology described in the course will be carried out during the data science program.
To clarify the panorama we have opted for the use of the Pearson correlation technique, which allowed us to determine the variables that had the best correlation between them, this warns that the most appropriate variable to determine future forecasts and analyze the increase in subscribers is the of the cost of original content.
Finally, to show the results of the research, it has been decided to use Power BI as a visualization tool to present the present study and respond to the objectives set. / Trabajo de investigación

Chatbots as Interaction Modality : An Explorative Design Study on Elderly Classical Music Concert Subscribers / Chatbotar som Interaktionsmodalitet : En Utforskande Designstudie på Äldre Konsertabonnenter av Klassisk MusikBerglund, Fredrik January 2017 (has links)
This thesis is a pilot study aimed at exploring how a chatbot can be designed to be used as a tool to give elderly classical music concert subscribers information about concerts they are attending. Previous works have indicated chatbots to be useful as information retrieval systems. To test this theory, a chatbot called “BerwaldBoten” was created and tested on eight elderly concert subscribers. Apart from testing the chatbot in everyday settings during a week leading up to a concert, the users also answered questionnaires before and after the study for qualitative data. Data from the chats was also collected for qualitative analysis. The results were generally positive, where most users found it easier to acquire concert information when using the chatbot. A need to provide the alternatives to interact using either quick reply buttons or free text was indicated. Furthermore, the importance of stating limitations and being transparent regarding the system state at all times is discussed.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Engagement Journalism in Local News: An Ethnographic Study of the Dallas Morning NewsWise, Hannah Marie 05 1900 (has links)
The Dallas Morning News is a leader in using engagement journalism to increase and retain digital subscribers. This ethnography examined the efficacy of the engagement journalism work by the News in rebuilding trust and forming relationships with its audience. This research is exceptionally timely as more newsrooms are erecting paywalls to their content and asking their audiences to offer monetary support in exchange for greater access and engagement by journalists. This work is examined through two mass communications theories: functionalism, which says a society can be viewed like an ecosystem as a "system in balance" consisting of complex sets of interrelated activities, each of which supports the others in maintaining the system as a whole; and the dual responsibility model, which says that companies should operate in the best interests of all in the community who depend on them, not only those who benefit financially. Additionally, the work is considered from a human-interaction design standpoint to evaluate whether the News has created affordances that enable the journalists and the readers to communicate, and whether the journalists are effectively practicing service design when publishing news and information for the audience.
