There is also analyzed the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation, which is primarily aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. confidering the allocation of financial resources it is the most important subsidy program for the development of this segment.

Možnosti sociálně pedagogické podpory matek samoživitelek / Possibilities of social pedagogical support of single mothers

This thesis deals with the problems of single mothers. Its aim is to describe the characteristics and problems of single mothers in the contemporary social context and the possibilities of socio-educational support that are available for them. The above is based on expert sources described in the theoretical part. The practical part, points out the problems which selected single mothers mostly address in their lives and describe possibilities of socially pedagogical support, especially as regards the offer and awareness of their contribution. Based on qualitative research, which was carried out through five case studies, the most frequent problems are financial hardship, psychological, occupational and educational problems and finally housing problems. Regarding the socio-educational support programs are found very little awareness of their availability and offer. Contribution of the completed course was for participants of research very significant, especially in the sharing of experiences, training situations and assertive communication and the encouragement for further action.

First-generation College Students: Their Use of Academic Support Programs and the Perceived Benefit

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which academically successful first-generation college students, compared to academically successful non-first-generation college students, used academic support programs provided by UNT and to measure their perception of the benefits of these programs. Differences were examined using information gathered from a Graduate Student Survey administered to students graduating in fall 2006 from the University of North Texas. Analysis of the data from the survey indicated that there was no statistical significance between the use and perception of benefit of academic support programs between the two groups. Overall, students that used academic support programs provided by the university believed they benefited from the programs they utilized. Both groups indicated that they believed the Math Lab provided the most benefit. The Graduating Student Survey also examined input, environment and output factors of academically successful first-generation and academically successful non-first-generation students. Again, both groups indicated similar responses to the questions asked. First-generation college students in this study were successful in graduating from the University of North Texas and utilized some of the resources provided by the university to do so.

The state plays a prominent role in the process of regional development. State interventions might bring radical influences into the entire socioeconomic system, to which the other actors of regional development have to adapt. Importantly, the state administrates a large amount of funds, creates large numbers of jobs, and it is led by "elites" which might influence the other people's opinions. The need for studying of the role of the state and the expenditure side of its budget for an understanding of the mechanisms of regional development is recognized by many authors. However, deep discussions of the function of the state could be hardly found in regional development theories. The aim of this dissertation thesis is to contribute to understanding of the role of the state as one of major actors in regional development via investigation of the regional impacts of public support programs. To provide concrete scrutiny, parliamentary grants (so-called "pork barrel") were depicted through which deputies annually sent large sums of money from the state budget during its approval process in the Chamber of Deputies on projects with local impact. This diploma thesis with the management of health support program in a hospital, because of increesing interest in relevance of health support nowadays. Theoretical section attempts to map out health supportin global context and also outline some health support programs, which are in progress in Czech Republic today. Another goal is to specify the most frequent noncommunicable chronic deseases and their risk factors. The last part of theoretical section deals with quality of health care, implementation of quality management and quality planning and also highlits quality as a result of modification of management process. Practical section analyzes data from questionaire survey, colected from in-patients with ischemic heart disease in The Hospital Pelhřimov. Results show, that patients wanted to change their life style. There is also a big group of patients, who don't think of changes of their habits. But this group is interested in informations about changes of their life style. The informations are provided by physicians. As for this group, group consists of patients with overweight or obesity, and patients who are suffering from their disease less then one year. Innovative developmental education: Student perceptions of the Watsonville Digital Bridge Academy

This multiple case study investigated impact and perceptions of students enrolled in the Watson Digital Bridge Academy Foundation Course at Cabrillo College in Watsonville, California. The Watsonville Digital Bridge Academy is an innovative community college program that integrates four theoretical frameworks in student learning: self-efficacy, accelerated learning, team management, and developing a desire for learning. Students identified three crucial components of the Foundation Course as impacting their success in and desire to continue college. First, students believed the self-assessment of their team networking skills was useful during and after the Foundation Course. As part of identifying their own team interaction style, students also reported they learned to understand and appreciate differences in others. Second, students believed the Learning-to-Learn skills made them more efficient learners, able to take notes and engage with texts. Students were amazed that they had read and written so extensively, and felt they could approach other college assignments with new skills. Third, students were energized by the social research project that required them to gather data from community sources, facilitate group discussions and speak in front of others. While each of these components resulted in important skills, the combination had a remarkable impact on these students' beliefs about themselves. Students described themselves as more self-confident, more aware of their own strengths and weakness, more capable of academic success because of their reading comprehension and note-taking skills, and more motivated to continue their education. This case study confirmed much of the literature about the importance of learning to manage teamwork and applying these skills to real-life community projects. Community colleges play a large role in helping at-risk students achieve economic and social advantages. The key to student success is to ensure that for high-risk students, the transition into a college learning environment is both challenging, as well as a safe and comfortable environment. The Watsonville Digital Bridge Academy Foundation Course presents a unique model designed to help students make a seamless transition into the college environment with the goal of teaching students essential academic skills to become successful in college.

Between 2003 and 2009, we experienced a clash between antagonistic postures in defense of this right, which occurred together with the dissemination of researches on childcare that highlighted the need for the State to implement more effective policies to ensure the exceptionality and temporality of this protection measure. As participants in the São Paulo movement against the approval of the National Adoption Bill No. 1756-2003, we aim to contribute to the understanding of the processuality which resulted in the enactment of the law No. 12.010 in 2009. The text covers the subaltern classes historic rupture legacy of family life and community, claiming back, in legislation, the genesis of the ideas of adoption as a "solution" for those who are taken in. The approach to the course of the the National Adoption Bill No. 1756-2003 sought to answer the following guiding questions: What is the concept of family and community life that permeated the debates? How was the articulation of the PNCFC construction process and the legal procedures of PLNA? What is the influence of the São Paulo movement, contrary to the PL, on its legal procedures in the legislative process? What remained from the original proposals and what has substantially changed? Are there new bills pending whose purpose is to make adopting agile? And after all, was the centrality of the family strengthened in terms of support or accountability in a familist perspective? In order to be able to reconstruct all this, we favored the documentary research in primary and secondary sources, such as previous versions of the plan and several bills in addition to the National Adoption Bill No. 1756-2003, as well as the results of public consultations and shorthand transcripts of sessions of the House of Representatives. The conclusion shows that, in the gap between the legal guarantee and the reality of no access to fundamental rights, the "centrality of the family" can assume perspectives that reinforce the process of inequality they experience. Despite the legal and regulatory advances, actions in defense of the fundamental right to family and community life tended to emphasize the reorganization of institutional care services, the need for the implementation of foster care and the adoption-centered interests of the child, having progressed very little in terms of the control of public policies aiming at the protection of socialization, prevention of rupture and reintegration to the family of origin. Anchored in a contradiction of the Brazilian capitalist society - economic reordering overlaps the social investment, which focuses on meeting the minimum necessary needs - public actions still tend to reproduce failing mechanisms of rupture instead of mechanisms of promotion and strengthening of the family and community life of subaltern classes in the child best interest / À luz dos fundamentos teóricos e ético-políticos do Serviço Social, esta tese problematiza o direito à convivência familiar e comunitária e a recorrência do poder público e da sociedade civil em privilegiar a adoção, como forma de resolver a situação de crianças e adolescentes acolhidos institucionalmente. Entre 2003 e 2009 paralelamente à divulgação das pesquisas sobre os serviços de acolhimento - que evidenciaram a necessidade da implementação de políticas mais efetivas por parte do Estado para garantir a excepcionalidade e a provisoriedade dessa medida de proteção - vivenciamos um embate entre posturas antagônicas na defesa do direito à convivência familiar e comunitária. Em que momento a adoção se torna a solução para a pobreza? Qual o conteúdo da primeira versão do PLNA? Como ele foi construído? Qual a influência do movimento de São Paulo contrário ao referido PL em sua tramitação no legislativo? Como se deu a articulação do processo de construção do PNCFC e da tramitação do PLNA? Como chegamos ao texto da Lei 12010-2009 que, apesar de ser conhecida como a Lei da Adoção , trata da convivência familiar e comunitária? O que se manteve conforme as propostas originais e o que mudou substancialmente? Qual a concepção do melhor interesse da criança que permeou os debates? Temos novos projetos de lei em trâmite com o propósito da agilização de adoção? E afinal, qual o sentido da centralidade atribuída às famílias das crianças e dos adolescentes acolhidos institucionalmente? Para essa reconstrução privilegiamos a pesquisa documental em fontes primárias e secundárias tais como ofícios, relatórios, versões anteriores do PNCFC, de vários projetos de lei relativos a adoção e as transcrições das sessões taquigrafadas da Câmara dos Deputados do PLNA 1756-2003 e seu substitutivo PL 6222-2005. A conclusão aponta que entre a garantia legal e sua (não) efetivação na realidade, a centralidade da família pode assumir perspectivas que reforçam o processo de desigualdade que vivenciam. Apesar dos avanços legais e regulatórios que se aprofundaram na segunda década do ECA, as ações em defesa do direito fundamental à convivência familiar e comunitária tenderam a enfatizar o reordenamento dos serviços de acolhimento institucional, a necessidade da implementação de acolhimento familiar e a a ampliação da adoção, pouco avançando no controle das políticas públicas para proteção do convívio, prevenção da ruptura e reintegração à família de origem. Os projetos de lei em tramitação indicam que, cada vez mais, ganha força o ideário da adoção de crianças como solução para as expressões da questão social brasileira, numa perspectiva funcional à lógica capitalista e aos interesses de determinada classe social, mascarado sob a defesa do melhor interesse da criança

Working, but Poor: A Study of Georgia's Economic Self-Sufficiency Policies

The "work first" philosophy of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act sent millions of people into the labor force, many for the first time. The result was a dramatic increase in the number of workers whose earnings failed to pull them and their families out of poverty. Assistance in the form of childcare, transportation, medical coverage, and the Earned Income Tax Credit is beginning to receive attention as support mechanisms for people who do not earn adequate wages and receive little benefits from their employers. This study examines the effectiveness of Georgia's approach to providing work support programs to its working poor citizens. No single entity is responsible for making work supports accessible. Thus, services often go underutilized because those who might qualify are not aware of their potential eligibility. Further, there is no state level strategy for ensuring that wage advancement is considered by agencies providing work support services. Using client administrative wage data from the Georgia Department of Labor and qualitative interviews from program staff, the state's structure for assisting the working poor is examined.
