El departamento de Arequipa durante el evento ENSO 1982-83 sufrió junto con otros departamentos de la sierra sur peruana una de las sequías más devastadoras de su historia, sequía que afectó intensamente a la economía de la zona. A partir de este suceso se suele asociar la ocurrencia de eventos ENSO con déficit hidropluviométricos en el sur de nuestro país. Sin embargo durante la ocurrencia del evento ENSO de 1972-73 se produjeron, por el contrario, inundaciones que afectaron la infraestructura vial y agrícola incluso en departamentos del sur peruano como Arequipa. En el presente trabajo se analiza el comportamiento del régimen de descargas del río Camaná-Majes, uno de los ríos más importantes y representativos del departamento de Arequipa para un período de registro de 1950 a 1991. Buscando establecer si efectivamente existe alguna asociación entre los eventos ENSO y las variaciones en el régimen hidropluviométrico en el área en estudio. During the ENSO 1982-83 the Department of Arequipa and others of the Southem Sierra of Peru suffered one of the worst droughts of the history, which strongly affected the regional economy. After this event, it is common to associate El Niño phenomenon with hydropluviometric deficits in Southem Peru. However, during the ENSO event of 1972-73 there were, on the contrary, floods that affected the agriculture and transport infrastructure, not only in the North Coast of Peru but also in the southem sectors. In this paper, I intend to analyse the discharge rates of the Camaná-Majes river, one of the most important and representative of the Department of Arequipa. To do this I ha ve worked the records 1950-1991, looking to establish if there is any association or not between the ENSO events and the hydropluviometric variations in the area studied.

The geographical landscape has always been attractive to everyone because there you can express the human curiosity to know the surrounding world. The ways to present or to describe these landscapes fill the literature books and, in the Peruvian case, there are the works of all writers to a major or minor degree. Thus, at the beginning of the 20th century it is notable the figure of the historian José de la Riva-Agüero y Osma, himself an aristocrat from Lima who made an heroic travel from Cusco to Ocopa, Huancayo, at a time when there were not roads, making the trip on mule back. Here we present a brief description of an experience made in October, 2012, where we look to capture some of Riva-Agüero’s impressions that could have marked his vision about the life conditions of the high mountain people of the Andes, which may have changed his political view of them. / El paisaje geográfico ha sido siempre el atractivo de todo ser humano porque allí se expresa la curiosidad de conocer el mundo que nos rodea. Las formas de presentar o describir estos paisajes llenan los libros de literatura y en el caso peruano están los trabajos de todos los escritores en mayor o menor grado. Así, a comienzos del siglo XX destaca la figura del historiador José de la Riva-Agüero y Osma, un aristócrata limeño que realizó un viaje heroico para la época en que no habían carreteras y cubrió a lomo de bestia el trecho entre Cusco y Ocopa, en el valle del Mantaro. Aquí se hace una breve descripción de la experiencia realizada en octubre de 2012, en donde se buscó captar algunas impresiones que pudieron haber marcado la visión de este viajero acerca de la vida de la población andina y que, de alguna manera, le hicieron cambiar su pensamiento político.

Last August marked 10 years since the start of the Camisea project, and it is undeniable the influence that it has had in Peru. However, it is also unquestionable that during the last decade, the country has suffered from critic mismanagement, called «centralism». In this context, the author gives an overview of the state of the natural gas industry in Peru. Finally, he makes reference to researches aimed at gaining access to natural gas outside the capital. / El pasado mes de agosto se cumplieron 10 años desde el inicio de operación del proyecto Camisea, y es innegable la influencia que ha tenido este proyecto en el Perú. Sin embargo, también resulta incuestionable que en esta última década el país ha padecido de una crítica mala gestión, llamada «centralismo». En este contexto, el autor hace un repaso de la situación de la industria del gas natural en el Perú. Finalmente, hace referencia a investigaciones destinadas a lograr el acceso al gas natural fuera de la capital.
