Stå vi inför världskrig? : En studie om Bärgslagspostens rapportering av första världskriget / Are we facing world war?

Persson, Evelina January 2020 (has links)
Abstract This studys purpose has been to deepen the knowledge about the swedish view on the first world war, through a local perspectiv. This has been accomplished by examining which perspective story the paper used and if they took one of the superpowers’ side during the war. Materials from Bärgslagsposten during 1914–1916 has been examined and the story persepectives that’s been used are the fatalistic, the heroic, the idyllic and the tragic. The stories in Bärgslagsposten was sorted out after which perpsectiv the author had used. The texts and reports the paper pulished during this time were examined to see if the paper took any sides in the war, both by looking at how often a country were written about and what they wrote about them. The results were that the story perpspectiv they used the most were the tragic one and they never used the heroic storytelling. They did not take any sides during the war and were sure to emphasize the importance of keeping Sweden neutral. The results of this study are to a certain extent consistent  with what the previous  research has shown.

There are no medical certificates showing that he is heterosexual” : A qualitative text analysis of Swedish newspaper articles concerning Nils Quensel in conjuction with the Kejne-affair during the1950s.

Heljemo, Amanda January 2024 (has links)
The purpose with this essay has been to analyze and discuss how Nils Quensel in conjunction with the Kejne-affair was portrayed in Swedish newspaper articles during the 1950’s, and also to show how the heteronorm is expressed in the articles' portrayals of Quensel. The essay has used a qualitative text analysis as a method. The essay is also based on queer theory with a focus on the concept of heteronormativity. The essay's questions dealt with how Quensel is portrayed in the newspapers and how the heteronorm is expressed. The second question was about how the papers differ in how they have written about Quensel. This essay has shown that there are differences and also similarities when it comes to how a person can be portrayed in newspapers with different political orientations, and also how big a role the media, in this case the Swedish press, play and have played in society. Generalizations are made based on how a newspaper chooses to portray a person and which also affects the public and society's norms, which in turn affects how people see themselves and others. This essay has also shown the importance of source criticism as the essay is a living example of how false accusations can have major consequences not only for the affected person but also for other people in the society. Telling and teaching younger children early how the media works and what consequences the media can have on people is therefore of great relevance.
